    Oh boy, first faction I managed to get my own "immersive victory". I conquered whole steppe, got west as far as northern part of the map reaches baltic sea and east as far as baktria. It was beatifull and hard fought adventure that started my love for DeI. Thank you for covering this!

    i remember in my campaign i migrated to the balkans and took over the odrysians. from there i defeated the barbarians and the entiire grece declared war on me. so like any true nomad i fought and defeated them all ( only possible cuz of their great shock and missile cav. ) overall 10/10

    After 100 turns into my nomad campaign for the vast majority of that my income has been negative. So sacking and looting is extremely important. Due to the military reforms you need to expand east and fight thr other nomad factions. Put it also means you need to take a lot of unprofitable land which increases your empire maintenance.

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  Рік тому

      Can be nice to do a small all-cav army and do the raiding stance in other territory too. As you gain xp you can boost the income from looting/raiding too :)

      @bassamalfayeed1384 Рік тому +1

      @Immersaholic To be honest if you get the right army traditions looting and sacking will get you an unlimited amount of money to spend on building. The hardest thing in the game besides being patient during your battles is keeping your political control low. The nomad factions seem to be geared to heavily punish you if you don't use other political party members as generals

    Great review ❤
    Never played this faction before . But the fact you start far away from rome and carthage is a plus 😅. The lack of heavy infantry makes taking walled cities painful, but I guess you can always starve them out

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  Рік тому +5

      Thanks mate! Tbh the axemen and archers of this faction make taking cities at least a decent possibility now. Their new roster is really fun and impressive for nomads imo.

    Good video as always man, and I do like what the DEI team did with Scythia I wouldn't have minded seeing a few more things but they're more nit-picks then anything else. Out of the Steppe tribes though I'd say I still proffer the Roxalani unit roaster wise but start position wise I'd go with Scythia (walled city and all) lets see how the Saka faction looks.
    Main things I wouldn't of minded seeing was woman horse archers like with the Roxalani last I checked it wasn't just unique to them but the vast majority of steppe tribes did this, and when I say this I mean from a historicly accurate stand point. I also found the Greek legend of the Amazons came from their encounters with (mostly) Scythian tribes, and a team of archaeologists dug up a Scythian burrial mond something reserved for great warriors and nobles and the remains were female and they found battle injuries on the remains. Also woundn't have minded seeing a faction bonus towards Gold, archaeologists discovered Scythian gold smithing techniques that were supperior to anything even the Greeks or Persians could accomplish as well as other metal working marvels. Hopefully one day we can learn more about the Steppe tribes.
    As I said before though still a fantastic improvement for the Scythian faction and a much needed one, looking forward to the Saka faction next man.

      @Immersaholic  Рік тому +1

      Interesting insight mate, I’d love to see more female warriors too although I don’t know much about the history of these cultures. Some sort of really nice resource like gold being in the area would add a lot more strategic value for the western factions to go out that way.
      I really like the Saka eastern units, I’ll be sure to show them off soon

    • @gabrielalexander4685
      @gabrielalexander4685 Рік тому

      @@Immersaholic Can't wait personally think that if there is a faction that can come close to matching factions like Parthia in Horsemenship then the Saka should be one of the closest. From what I've been able to learn about Parthia they were once a Nomadic people possible distant cousins of the Saka before settling in the area and embracing Persian culture.
      And as for the gold and metal works things for Scythia yeah gold and valuable metals out in the Steppes would be good, I just wouldn't of minded the Scythians themselves getting some sort of bonus when they get those resources.
      And yeah sadly there isn't much on the Steppe tribes but luckily more is being found today and hopefully we can learn more about these mysterious cultures. Not to mention just playing as Nomads and going Proto-Hun/Mongol on everyone is kinda fun. A shame Three Kingdoms didn't release the Northern Tribes culture pack before dropping the game entirely.

    I understand jav cav (compared to horse archers) are in theory 1. more effective against enemy heavy cav (or armour in general) and 2. better in melee . Reality of course is that there are better tools in both circumstances.

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  Рік тому +2

      The problem with jav cav is that you have to be very close to use their javs. Leaving little error for your micro management and then your also risking the enemy getting into the charge animation which will always allow them to catch up to you

    I never use infantry with the nomads, I just go full cav and when I need to take a town I siege it out, wait for the enemy to sally out or attack a nearby army out on the field and defeat the reinforcing garrison in the open.

      I just recently completed a no auto-resolve Very Hard campaign with Massalia. Just last week, actually and it was tough, for sure. Their roster is very limited in the early game but pretty amazing in the late, post-thorax reform. Still, if you just lean heavily into the hoplites they will outlast any of the nearby Celtic factions on the battlefield provided you support them with vocantae AoR cavalry charges. (Massalia gets the Vocantae Veterani mercenaries as a permanent, unlimited AoR in their capital region)

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  Рік тому

      @@matthewcarroll2533 Interesting mate, I'm surprised that aor unit is still unlimited though, almost all of them have limits now :?

    • @matthewcarroll2533
      @matthewcarroll2533 Рік тому

      @@Immersaholic Hmmm, well it's a mercenary unit but it only appears in the Narbonensis province (massalia's home region) and I had nearly 4 of those exact mercs in about 16-17 different armies towards the end of the campaign so unless the limit is massive then it doesn't have one.
      You might be thinking of their "little brother" versions that're the AoR Immigration building chain unit, the vocante epos (notice they don't have the word "mercenary" or "veterani" in the name) and those guys are still excellent, they're just very light cavalry with about 8 base armor so not as useful later on in the campaign against Rome plus they're limited like you said.
