Galatia also has incredible mercenary units available in that area. Cappadocian cavalry and the 300-men Galatian Mercenary Spearmen (shock spear, 25 armor) are insane units. Not to mention Cretan/Syrian archers and Rhodian slingers which are nearby too
Aren't these mercenary spearmen not similar to Thureos Spears? Thureos Spears are also very decent for Galatia :-) But you are right about the archers in the area, plenty of choice!
One of my fav factions. I usually only really play Roman/Greek factions. Every once in a while I'll change it up but this faction has always been cool to me. I love their starting location and mercenaries. Thanks for the overview as always. :)
Great Video! Something I always wanted for Galatia was a Diplomacy bonus to joining wars of other factions, so that you could Loan yourself out as a mercenary faction to reap the rewards of battle-spoils. On a side note, I really REALLY want to see them touch up the Chariot Mechanics too. Some Higher Armor and mass on Heavy Chariots to reflect that a guy with a club or a cheap spear would exhaust himself before he beat a Chariot into submission, or higher Stamina and speed on light chariots to reflect that it's 2 - 4 Horses pulling 1-2 Men. In my testing, the light Chariots throw javelins pretty dang fast, so the idea of using light Chariots like a fast skirmisher force with a HUGE ammo pool and the ability to decimate routing units very quickly was pretty effective. Not like regular light cav can't throw javelins and kill fleeing enemies though, and for MUCH less money. Just a shame that both heavy and light Chariots essentially have no niche that isn't filled more cost effectively by heavy cavalry or light cavalry.
Thanks mate! Dude that'd be amazing if you got diplomacy buffs from that, I also agree on the chariot side of things. They just simply aren't good enough, even the scythed chariots aren't great. The cinematic background footage at the end had 2 units of chariots in it. After being thrown into the rear of the legionaries they only got about 40ish kills each (After 2 charges each too!)
I got my coffee and enjoying these overviews and now I'm an addict, We need more! Also I'm not getting notifications from UA-cam when you have new content. Awesome overviews as always mate.
You can get better skirmishers in the neighboring Asia Minor province. Rhodian slingers are available there. Also Syrian Archers are available nearby too.
interesting your verdict of the faction on how it plays was the total opposite of what the mod maker intended them to play as. there meant to play as a melee Slug faction like the Romans according the creator. Neitos Legionaries are pretty much Equal To Marian but more offensive focused
I wouldn't say complete opposite, they rely heavily on melee infantry to get kills through a grindout fight for sure. My biggest point was that they lack almost everything else in the roster. Their armor isn't great for probably half of their melee units so grinding with them isn't going to go great. The late tier units are fantastic though, but even then they'll still lose to frontal attacks against pikemen (which they are almost fully surrounded by)
@@Immersaholic Almost everything dies to pikemen frontally so that ain't to much of an argument. if you mean the early units yeah. the later units have defensive formation counted in as it gives the Thorax unit 56 Armour as you charge and go into formation. not as good as the Roman Veterans legionary but Close and you also get them way earlier
Haha nah not at all mate! I'd post every day if I had the time! I love making content and getting to chat with you all. You all are the real champs here mate
the trick with chariots is (at least at vanilla) that you need to always point direction opposite of where they looking so that chariots move or turning 360 coz they do damage while turning around, otherwise they will be slowed and killed easily or try to attack nearby units so they use charge too. watch out from javelins, pikes, hoplite wall and any range weapon that means that you need combine more units to make chariots useful
Great video thank you very much for this!! Galatia is just a lovely faction too play. Not too many units but still enough to diverse enough. I have one question for you do you know how I can train scythed chariots in the Galatian campaign??
Thanks very much mate! To know what units you can have right click on the barracks and click through each tier. I can’t recall if they have cavalry based barracks but it might be like that or as a general later on
Having a substandard army makes the game interesting. Please do mauryans next. They received the much deserved love in the last patch. Espesially the armored longbowmen.

From a historical standpoint, it makes sense to have the debuffs, as the Galatians settled basically the same year that DEI starts.
For sure, it’s just a unique debuff I haven’t seen before. I like it 😎

Also, the heavy infantry has 3 speed, on campaign, due to first technology. Quite nice, if you ask me
the best thing about Galatian Swords is that 30 damage per hit, its great for cheap.
Its very very delicious!
Would be good to see Iweriu faction guide. Tribal confederation plus and island isolated with very weak early troops.
The Irish will definitely get their spotlight soon. Probably our next Celtic faction

I'll do a nomadic faction next but I don't see why Maurya can't be in the line up very soon. Sounds good to me mate :)
@@Immersaholic Kimbroz count as nomadic enough ;)
Yes your Cimbri were pretty nomadic Imersa ^^
But I would like to see suebi more, they are completely overhauled since the last overview

You have to buy the DLCs for them.
For Galatia specifically, you need the Caesar in Gaul DLC. Wait for a sale and pick up all the dlc, they go REALLY cheap sometimes.
CHADS OF THE EAST!
Bactria next perhaps?
They’ll be coming soon although I don’t think they’ve changed too much since I last covered them
Naked spears with 4 speed would be amazing 😍
