    In the very early game I recommend recruiting the subeshi archers. They have 175 range and easily outshoot the horse archers of your neighbors while coming from the 4th tier population. Extremely efficient against nomads and u can save population and money for melee cavalry

    Man, seeing those new reform units really makes me wish one day we have a total war game that stretches from britain to japan during this time period. Even just India and the Himalayas would be incredible, history from that region and time is so under appreciated!

      Absolutely! They look really really cool too, loved their outfits and armor! Not some unrealistic armor that's usually forced on women in movies/tv.

      I saw one done in the DEI discord, he migrated all the way to Africa. He made sure to conquer and hold Bactria long enough to get the reforms, so you have to do that before migrating west if you want reforms.

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  7 місяців тому +1

      That seems like a really good strategy! I'll have to keep that in mind if I attempt a migration too ;) @@vergilroth

    Great video! I'd love to see you play a few dozen turns as the Saka, I've tried it myself a few times and it's super brutal waging war against parthia and/or bactria with such poor early lands.
    You mentioned that it's nearly impossible (at the start or in general) to migrate since you're landlocked. I think it would be particularly interesting to sail across the Caspian Sea and/or walk through the lands on your way to the Armenian lands. They start off with a lot of enemies, and if you can take their provinces and grow a nomadic population, the gold and resources could give you a nice economic heartland to fund big horse archer armies? Seems like it could work, will update if I have success.

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks mate! I definitely would like to try and migrate as them, I just feel like many players wilm struggle with the migration, since you need to hold the Bactrian lands for a while to get their awesome reforms. Good luck to you let me know how you do!

      Also it's a Chinese word for a people who were decidedly not Chinese in any way, shape, or form, so to call it "Chinese influence" is a misnomer. It's just the name the people of mdoern-day China called these people before they migrated westward.

    Your content is amazing @immersaholic. Now, in your opinion, how would you rank the rosters of the 3 nomadic factions overall? For sure, Saka has the toughest campaign challenge early game

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks so much!
      If your only comparing their actual military rosters I’d argue the Scythians probably are about the most useful. Saka would be 2nd

    • @victorjacquemont5556
      @victorjacquemont5556 7 місяців тому

      @@Immersaholic would you argue that because of their hoplite frontline? I'd argue Saka horse archers and shock cav are better

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  7 місяців тому +1

      That and I prefer their heavy archer unit, very very heavy and their reforms are also easier to attain. The Saka reforms make getting their great units very difficult@@victorjacquemont5556

    Definitly my favorite faction to date, the mod team really knocked it out of the park with the visuals. The only complaint is that all of their low tier infantry only have 200 men (Saka warriors/saka axemen), which is inferior to parthia, which is similar in alot of ways. That and tribal guard arn't recruitable as a melee unit. Otherwise they're perfect.

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  7 місяців тому +1

      I usually have favored Royal Scythia but with these awesome Eastern units I think the Saka have won me over... maybe :P

      No they have more javelin so they are hybrid of skirmisher/infantry

    • @Konrad_IV
      @Konrad_IV 7 місяців тому

      Saka are awesome, but in my opinion the Rauxa Alanna are the coolest nomadic faction. Good shock cav and best HA catas plus actually good infantry.

    • @vergilroth
      @vergilroth 7 місяців тому +1

      I think the decision to only give them 200 men infantry is to compensate for how strong their cavalry are and the only situation where you really need Saka infantry is if you want to fight sieges manually otherwise an all cavalry army is the way to go.

      @Immersaholic the why i like them is a complex reason to explain,but... I love Horse Archers and shock cav based armies, and my people origin is related in culture and KIN to the MassaGETAE.
      Tomyris Queen of the Massagetae was the sister of a Dacian(Getae) king,Yuzehi Tocharian Nomads,who later formed the Kushan Empire(Not Chinese😅) looks amazing,all thier military roster looks 🌟 and 🌄 and the Battles in the Region against the Parni and Bactrians,Mauryans if you like, against the Persians are so immersive ❤️

      @@Immersaholic The Saka are 1) a nomadic faction, that's always a plus. 2) They're not well documented, and that air of mystery has a lot of appeal to me. 3) Europa Barbarorum 2 painted the Saka/Bactrian wars in a very epic light, and that impression has always struck me. 4) they're aesthetically outstanding. Scythian cataphracts wearing tiger and leopard skins? The Saka are full of drip. And finally, 5) the Saka are the only Nomadic faction in Rome 2 who created a lasting, settled empire in the east. So succeeding as them feels significant, like you're seeing a historical story be made real.
