The Cimbri Elite skirmishers use a shockspear weapon entry. That weapon entry is designed to be a short spear like the Germanic framea. It trades some of the anti-cavalry value of the regular spear for more attack and AP damage.
Cimbri Heavy Spears have no javelin and only 15 armor because they have Defensive Formation. That formation prevents the AI from throwing a javelin. And it also vastly improves the armor rating and resilience.
You missed one of the best parts about the Elite Skirmishers, their 200 man count. That makes them able to go toe to toe with a lot of infantry units, not just a flanking charge.
My favorite build with this faction so far is a main line of 8 300-man disposable axes or spearmen, 1 berserker, 2 light cav, 1 archer, 2 wolf warrior or naked spears, and 5 elite skirmishers. Behind the main line of disposable axe infantry you have your 5 skirmishers with 2 spearmen on the flanks. Behind your second line is a berserker unit and an infantry general. Mass your skirmishers to concentrate fire on 1 unit in the middle of the opposing line to break a hole for your berserker+general while your main line charges, archer does flaming shot, and general pops intimidate. Meanwhile use your light cav to fix the enemy cav for your spears to eliminate. I've found this tactic to be really effective versus Romans and Hellenic factions, basically anything with better heavy infantry than yours, and you get more value out of being able to use your berserker(s) quickly rather than taking time to maneuver it around a flank. Plus when your flimsy main line starts breaking, you can use your excellent skirmishers as an infantry reserve.
@@Immersaholic Thanks! I really enjoy these "weird" factions that rely on unconventional tactics. This build also works extremely well for the Nervii IMO, since you can throw a chariot into the mix and cause a mass rout easily.
@@Q_Sertorius don't get me wrong all I play is DEI, but factions like Saba,Masaesyli, Nabataeans,Saka Rauka ,Rhodos and it's not just lack of better units but debuffs to many faction units, Parthia is missing a few units, I like to see camel cataphracts for Saba, tribal warriors, buff up Oath sworn, lack of armor and AP for factions that badly need it. Other than that I do enjoy DEI, it just needs a bit more flavor and units to factions. And hopefully in future updates we can get that.
I have done Bosporus before but that was on a old patch, Baktria is the same but I believe they have gone through changes. They'll both be done soon :)
“But as they pursued those that fled to their camp they witnessed amost fearful tragedy; the women, standing in black clothes on their wagons, slew all that fled, some their husbands, some their brethren, others their fathers;and strangling their little children with their own hands, threw them under the wheels and the feet of the cattle, and then killed themselves. They tell of one who hung herself from the end of the pole of a wagon, with her children tied dangling at her heels.” ~ Plutarch On the Cimbri

I probably should have mentioned it explicitly but I tried to tease it at the end by showing some axes being thrown lol. I don’t want to give everything away to everyone
That migration campaign with the Kimbri was very intense and very fun to watch. But I think you would have been more successful raiding or migrating the British isles 😅 As especially early game Briton units are far inferior to yours as the Kimbri
@@Immersaholic Viking style doesn't really fit the timeframe of DEI tbh 😅 But it would definitely be interesting with the Kimbri, especially when you go for Flevum
@@YWYW476 that's quite the journey mate ^^ Especially considering how difficult it could be for them to deal with Parthian horse archer armies. Makes me curious if you can do it.

Top Q spitting DEI bars!
Yeah he forget that when he talked about the Galatians thorax infantry
My favorite barbarian faction right here cause they are so unique with the emphasis on melee infantry.
They are fantastic! Love em!
really love this series. think ive watched this episode 3 times lol
When you play the faction don't forget to put on immigration song by led zeppelin

Really? I swear I mentioned that… 🫠
Maybe I accidentally deleted it during the edit lol. But yes of course your right!
@@Immersaholic Perhaps I missed it, either way though you're correct that they are a great unit and definitely one to be part of any Cimbri army
no he said it.

I prefer Suebi over Cimbri. I just can't break myself of the Hellenic Phalanx formation, once i found the Suebi have Pike unit, i was sold.
I feel you there, the Cimbri guerilla deploy is just too good for me to resist lol
But ... Don't the suebi have guerilla pikes? 😅
Their shieldwall units are without guerilla deployment though, but understandable
Been waiting for ma boys from the north 🎉

Thank you for the overview mate, I just wish DEI can bring in more units to, many factions that are just lacking terribly and no fun to play.
Thank you for watching! I’m fine with the number of units as aor and merc units boost it to be hundreds of units being available
I am curious which factions you think are terribly lacking and no fun to play. Most factions have about the same number of units.
