Dear Gabriel: Ideally, there should be more female livebearers, in a tank, than males. If males out-number females, the females will be harassed, constantly. I’d move one of your, two, red, delta-tailed, males guppies, into the male tank. How hot does it get, in your fish room? None of the fauna you have should be kept at temperatures warmer than 80°F. Aquatic plants do best at temperatures much lower. Congratulations, on getting your, terrific banner. Thank you for sharing this, interesting update. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
The fishroom stays pretty cool, probably 78 as my wife works from home she keeps the ac on. oh dang, i need to get more females then, let me take out one mail and put him somewhere else. thank you for the info.

Sign is looking great! Also one way to fix your hose popping off your air pump. Cut about a 1/2 inch off where it connects to the pump that should fix the issue. That end is probably stretched out a bit. Trimming it off a bit should tighten it right up

ua-cam.com/video/itIbfmqCRWo/v-deo.htmlsi=Yo-_6eG0HZotpOiN hey there....found this video on how amazon sword plants reproduce. I thought I'd send it to you since you've got that gorgeous sword plant now, and you were asking some questions about it
Dear Gabriel: Are you able to find a vendor, of compost (processed horse manure)? It contains all the nutrients your plants need and is a lot cheaper than liquid fertilizer or root tabs. You can add it, to your substrate, by wrapping it in brown paper (with no glue or toner) and sticking that, into the sand. Simply add packets of compost, near the roots of your plants. The brown paper will deteriorate and the roots of your plants will be fertilized. It is very important to quarantine new fish, especially from a box store, for at least three weeks. They may carry pathogens that could infect your, existing stock. I hope you have good success, with your hobby. Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
I had thought about quarantine but didn't remember i had an extra tank, which i right now remember i do. I guess i figured i had very little fish in here so the risk was not too great and went for it. I will in the future make sure i do the quarantine. Thank you for your continued support.
What size tank is that?

Dear Gabriel: The species of Amazon sword plant you acquired appears to be Echinodorus bleheri. $12.00, for a specimen that size, in such good condition was a real bargain! I’m very pleased that you enjoyed the swap meet. I was surprised, when I watched your, previous video, to note that you rented a motel room, for same. I went to a swap meet, last weekend. Getting there involved a 2.5 hour drive and the event only lasted a few hours. I did have a blast and purchased several items, at very good prices. I hope you find closer, such events, in future, to attend. Please do not break your Amazon sword plant in half. That would likely kill it. The only way to propagate Amazon sword plants, from my experience, is to remove daughter plants from runners. Even this is risky. I removed two daughter plants, from the same runner and replanted them, only to have both expire. I recommend leaving daughter plants on runners as long as possible. It might even be best to root daughter plants, in the substrate and leave runners in tact, to deteriorate, on their own. If you don’t have a water-test kit, please take a sample of the water from the tank, where all the plants died, to a pet store and ask them to test it (for free) for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. If any of those parameters are high, it will be necessary to get that sorted before adding fauna. Thank you for sharing this, terrific update. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
I am so happy to hear that you had a gerat time. I hope to see a video of your purchases. Thank you for the info on the plant i will ont break it in half. I too hope more shows like this happen closer to me so that i can check them out. thank you once again for your continued support brother.
Dear Gabriel: My purchases, at the swap meet are now spread about my and Charles’ houses. I was very pleased, to get two bunches of jungle val (at $5.00/bunch) and the bunches were quite large. Other than that, I purchased three, small, plastic hides, at $1.00/each. I gave these to Charles, as he likes to glue hides, together and decorate and paint them. After which, he covers them with epoxy, making them aquarium-safe. I got a few items, for free, including a “Betta bed,” still in the original packaging. I got a fish net, which had a few holes in it. I sewed them up, with sewing thread. I was interested in bunches of floating crystalwort (Riccia fluitans), on offer, at $5.00/bunch, from the same vendor, who sold me the jungle val. But, I decided to forgo this species, as I haven’t had much success with it, in the past. Apparently, it is necessary to keep it in a tank, which has weak, water flow. I haven’t yet figured out how to keep plants, from becoming covered, in green hair algae, in such a set-up. Charles purchased a couple bunches of Alternanthera reineckii; traded an aquarium, for a tall, corner tank, with a bow-front (about 10 gallons, in size); and, around a dozen, small mystery snails. He got a couple of heaters, for free, but hasn’t tested them, yet, to see if they work. He purchased two, large bags of bloodworm flakes and gave me a generous portion, of same. He purchased a few other items, as well. The experience, of the swap meet was very enjoyable. I appreciate your enthusiasm and am very pleased to see that you acquired more than a trio of albino-red, delta-tailed, fancy guppies. Keep up your, terrific hobby and YouTubing. Sincerely, Brinegar

Make sure you add root tabs to the area under the sword
I did i put on right in between the two new plants which is about 1" away from each one.
Don't split the sword. Wait until you get runners.
Thank you brother i will make sure and wait. sometimes i get inpatient :p
That sword plant was a great deal. I'm not sure if you split it through but anything is possible if you have roots on both half's it probably would work. One thought about your blue moscows in your 125 there. I don't think the any babies will survive there pretty sure you angels and goramies will pick them off rather quickly
Thank you, yes the plant is nice and a great price i shoulda bout two. I have like 11 blue moscows in the room so they should be able to breed if the ones in the livingroom tank cant. I want some blue and some red im pretty darn excited.

@@air_ah_sa_lee bah humbug!!!
Lovely sword, a fantastic pickup
@@marksterlson thank you Mark and I totally agree.
Yeah I'm not a 100% sure, but I don't think you can just cut a stem and plant it. You'll need to wait till you get a runner then cut that and replant. Also it looks like the crown may be buried unless I'm just not seeing it clearly. I don't think you want the crown fully buried as it may not be about to produce off-shoots. This is really just my best guess because I'm no plant expert. It's a gorgeous sword plant and I'd hate for you to lose it. But please, let someone else more well educated on Amazon swords advise you than me. It's a great addition...congratulations!

@@mexicalifishkeeper it was a great time. You guys are awesome.
Yes the chlorine will come out over time, but I'd suggest still using a dechlorinator. You can get a huge bottle like tetra brand very cheap. I like prime because it also neutralizes ammonia and nitrite for 48 hours which can be an extra line of defense particularly during water changes, however it is expensive, but very concentrated. I love the banner! Things are coming along for sure
I am excited, I’m gonna go to my first show this weekend so I’ll fill up the tank tonight just in case I pick something up. Thanks for the complement on the banner, it will be going into print soon.
Yes Gabriel it will gas off all by itself. But faster with an air stone or sponge filter to breakup the surface Tanks are looking good love the blue guppies

Thank you so very much I just woke up and seen that :D i subbed ya back and welcome along for the ride. :D
They got you on the chlorine and chloramine. Here in San Diego I can't trust it since they sometimes they change the water sourse without notice. I know Alex from Fishtory also had a bad experience with tap water.
Thank you so much for letting me know, I will not try it just in case. I'm in Bakersfield but im sure all of Cali does the same type of stuff. Thanks for stopping by.
Pretty cool banner
Thank you, can’t wait to see it in its completed state. Thanks for stopping by.
Dear Gabriel: Chloramine does not evaporate from tap water. If your water-treatment facility uses chloramine, instead of chlorine, you will have to use de-chlorinator. My, water-treatment facility uses chlorine. Chlorine evaporates, from tap water. I have buckets of water, sitting in closets, about my house, so that I can use water from them, much of the time, instead of de-chlorinator. Chlorine can evaporate from tap water in a few hours to a day if left in an open container and exposed to air. However, the time it takes for chlorine to evaporate depends on several factors, including: 1. Temperature: Warmer air speeds up evaporation. Colder water can hold onto chlorine for longer. 2. Amount of chlorine: Higher chlorine levels can make evaporation take longer. 3. Amount of water: The amount of water can affect how long it takes for chlorine to evaporate. I tried, for years, to select-breed blue guppies, without any orange. I thought I had succeeded, but even my, best males wound up developing some orange, in their coloration, as they aged. If you’t like to see them, please search for this video, on UA-cam: Blue Guppies in a Shot Glass 2-16-19 I’d send you a link, but I believe UA-cam will disallow my comment, if it contains a link. If you want to grow your, UA-cam Channel, the best way I know of it to leave nice comments on many, small, FishFam channels. I’m up to 760 subscribers, but I just UA-cam, to fellowship, with other aquarists. The health and happiness of aquatic pets and plants is the point, of my channel. Thank you for posting this, exciting update. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar

I age tanks with just water, no “products”or fish. Chlorine should off-gas just fine. I cycle for many weeks even months incl. maintenance/testing.
I figured since i dont even know when ill be getting more fish in there i should just go ahead and fill it up so it at least has water. Thanks for the info and thanks for stopping by.
