Looking good Brother 👍👍👍
Thank you so much brother, and thanks for coming up last night it was an amazing time.
Almost there buddy..
I like the mix of coral and the sand.
That might actually look good, lets see how it looks as these fish sift through it and really mix it up. Thanks for the opinion and for stopping by.
Not far off now Gabriel 👏🏼
Yes I am VERY close, i know i will be there in no time :) thanks for stopping by.
You're getting there brother
Thank you brother, i will pay more attention to this tank for sure and add some color. Thank you for stopping by.
Cheers from my fish room channel in Chicago! I'm glad to be one of your subscribers. You'll get 500 in January. i know it!
Good to see my friend Steffan on another friends video!
Thank you for stopping by, I will get that 500 soon which is not to far in the future.
@@FathomAquatics It sure is a small community, it is good to have a good group of great people.
One for the algorithm. Hope you get it man!
Thank you for stopping by, every one counts :D
Dear Gabriel:
In order to keep live, aquatic plants, it is necessary to fertilize them. Some think that detritus (fish waste) is sufficient. It is not. You can add compost, to an established tank, by wrapping it, in brown paper (like from a paper bag) that has no glue or toner, on it, and push it beneath the substrate. Root tabs and liquid fertilizer are inferior, to compost, but might help.
I hope you have good success, with your endeavors.
Sincerely,
E. J. Brinegar
Oh wow i never thought of that, to have some compost in there but also not have a full dirt bottom, how long is it good for? do i just go to home depot and ask for compost or do i need to make sure of anything?
I get compost, from a company called "Natural Solutions," here in my city. They have tons of various topsoils, in piles, outside. For a few dollars, I can get a 5-gallon bucket, full of compost, which is just horse manure that has been chopped and baked. If you don't have such a company, locally, you need to make sure the compost you purchase does not have any chemicals added. As to how long it lasts, I'm not sure. I haven't kept any, planted tank running for more than a few years, before replacing it. But, I suspect compost has sufficient nutrients, to keep aquatic plants fertilized, for more than three years, depending on how much you use. It is important not to add too much, as excessive nutrients will encourage algae. Also, with a new set-up, too much compost seems to lengthen the period of the nitrogen cycle. My friend's latest tank has had ammonia spikes for about two months,
Whaaaat another video from G&C let’s go!! Gabriel those cichlids have such vibrant color on white substrate looks good. Wish I could have white sand
I Always used gravel , planning a white sanded 120 for discus and a few geos. The white bottom looks amazing 👍. Happy new year
Thank you so much for stopping by and the kind words, I really do like the crushed coral and knew i had to record it right away because these sand shifters would mess it all up really quickly :p I think i will have to get on it and spend some money on this main tank.
@@josepolanco1228 Yes i like it thank you, now i just have to spend the money to buy more of it and remove the sand and put just crushed coral because this morning it already doesn tlook nearly as nice as it did when i first put it in.
Happy new years eve
Thank you Mr Coop, Happy New Years to your and yours, hope 2024 is your best year yet.
I've used crushed Coral in all my African cichlid tanks It's supposed to help the water hardness.
And it just looks so very nice. In the future i might take out the sand and put only crushed coral, but it will have to wait until after i get a few more fish to add color.
I think it looks great! Yes I love the crushed coral. I'm a big fan of yellow labidochromis so I hope you do get some more. I've never had African cichlids, but maybe one day. I have the exact breeder box, and I love guppy grass. Also, is that what they call Texas holey rock? Happy new year to you and yours, and stay safe
Thank you, and yes the next step for me will to be picking up some more color for the tank, possibly the yellow labs, and possibly another blood dragon or to as that orange looks nice. I am not sure what the rocks are called, I always thought it was coral however maybe not?
@GCaquatics well it absolutely could be coral. If you google Texas holey rock fir aquariums, you'll see it looks very, very similar. But anyway...it looks great!
@@FishRfun Thank you so very much i appreciate you.
Thats a very cool tank
Thank you so much, I will start putting way more attention to it as i put it on the back burner while trying to set up the fish room. Thanks for stopping by.
