Super Appetizing Indian Fish Curry, Never Try Never Know
Ingredients:
Chilli Paste:
• 25 dried chilli
• 1 ½” thumb size ginger(Blend till fine)
Spices:
• 4 tbsp Corriander Powder or 3 tbsp coriander seeds.
• 4 tbsp Cumin powder or 3 tbsp cumin seed.
• 2 tsp Turmeric powder or 1 ½ thumb size Turmeric.
• Blend all seeds into powder, then only add in fresh turmeric, mix them into fine paste if use seeds.
Main Ingredients:
• 1 rice bowl thick tamarind water.
• ½ big inion (julienne cut).
• 400ml thick coconut milk.
• 450ml light coconut milk(150ml thick coconut milk & 300ml-400ml water).
• 4 blocks of grouper fish
• 3 brinjal cut lengthwise of 4 pcs each
• 70ml-100ml cooking oil.
• Chicken granules
• Salt to according to taste.
Method:
• Fry the chilli paste into hot oil till give out aroma.
• Add in Tamarind Juice, mix well.
• Add in the spices
• Add in light coconut milk, then onions, chicken granules & salt.
• Let it boil for 3-4 times.
• Add in the cut brinjal & pour in the thick coconut milk.
• Once gravy is boiling, add in the fish.
• Let it simmer for a while & gently overturn the blocks of fish till the gravy boil for a few times till the fish is cooked.
• Off fire & serve while hot.

Thank you so much Puan. Most of the recipe that I found uses ingredients that I've never heard of like biscuits exemplar. Or to add rice flour, etc. Your recipe looks easy enough and straight forward.
How come it takes so long, 2.5 hours, to boil the chang? Overnight-soaked glutinous rice takes v little time to cook. A bit puzzled. Thank u for your lovely recipe.

I felt that was what happened to my assam prawns. I marinated them overnight. Prawns became tough n clung to their shells! Or maybe prawns were poor quality. I dont know. Yes, your recipe is authentic as I learnt it from a Malacca Portuguese lady. They pronounced it as Debal Curry. They can replace cabbage with potatoes or even cauliflower. All up to different homes.
