The Wild Edges
The Wild Edges is a short, environmental documentary inspired by the increasingly pertinent discussion regarding the limitations of nature within our society.
Within our own Cornish community of Millbrook, where this film was produced and filmed, there are a number of debates occurring, from grass length to mowing practices, with some wanting to see ecology thrive while others see this growth as an insulting neglect to village aesthetics.
Talking to local children, those who will be inheriting the landscape we create, this film meets with those involved in the environment to seek their perspective on why our wild edges are more important than we may realise.
This film was written and directed by forager and Family Foraging Kitchen founder, Vix Hill-Ryder, and filmed by Tom Kirkman and Lucien Harris, with an original score by Jon Tye (Seahawks, Ocean Moon Group). Featured in the documentary are twitcher and performance poet, Mike McCan, wildlife photographer Lucien Harris, field mycologist Leon Frey, and David Curry, from Living Churchyards the Environmental Advisor for the Diocese of Exeter, as well as our rising star child presenters, Bluebell, Sage, and Rubus!
We would like to thank the National Lottery for their huge support with this project and our ongoing community initiatives, as well as to every individual who made this film possible.
Thank you.

I kinda love how we got to see how you roll with the punches when you can't get what you intended. It's a fun twist. I love using foraged ingredients in stir fry, especially since a lot of what I'm able to get in the winter is mushrooms. I wish the ground wasn't frozen here, so it would be an easier time for roots!

Greetings from London Heathrow area! Our water are one of the cleanest in the country too ! 🤣🤣🤣 LOL You made me hungry... What a good content you do! your knowledge is amazing! I thought that everybody nowadays buys their stir-fry in Tesco's 😂🤣😂🤣 Little fact about carrots-carrots were originally in that colour you've got ! Yes white-ish, and Dutch people as a tribute to their king and flag modified the color of carrots to orange! ( I think it Was in late 1800's ) so yes, you've got a carrot in it's original. I can't wiat until you've got 200 thousands subs , instead of 200. 🤔oh, maybe we need to add some silly TikTok pranks to reach that 😂🤣😂
