    Hey man. So why do we need to cut the shafts down to 36" i have the 54" salt water xi3 it was on sale for 1/2 off so decided couldnt pass that up. So i got it all mounted to my ss127 and i dont really see why i should cut it down. Its not in the way so was curious if there was any reasoning behind it or guys just like it shorter to cast off the front. Any input helps. Thanks again for your videos. I used your bungee cord idea and the 2 handle ideas. Works perfectly.

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 5 днів тому

      That’s the main reason to keep it short and out the way when casting, and when u stow It it’s not all the way back into your deck space hitting your drypod. 36” is the normal length for a kayak. Thanks for watching my videos it’s good to hear they are helping out.

    Love the video man. Excellent ideas. I am installing an Xi3 on my kayak and will be using the bungee cord and dual handle ideas for sure. My question is why did you go with the bonafide plate vs the one objective? I keep going back and forth and which one to get. Would love your opinion.

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 16 днів тому

      One objective has a really great trolling motor mount, but where it comes back it screws into the screw inserts which to me just isn’t enough. The Bonafide plate you actually do drill a hole and insert a small backing spacer that adds security to me. They are both great options.

    I want to install a different bow mount to run my Autoboat GPS system. How did you visualize the bolts on the install of your mounting plate? It seems like the deck plate is a bit far back and not in line of sight to install the bolts. Did you do it by feel? I’m nervous about that… thanks for the video, subscribed!

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 25 днів тому

      All you can do is measure the inside of the hull from where u install the deck plate to the very front of the bow. Then you can get the measurement on top of the bow the biggest thing don’t get to close to the very front of the bow, make sure you have room to get bolts through and the washer and nuts on. Just get close as you can it doesn’t have to be perfect.

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 26 днів тому

      The difference is night and day being honest. I absolutely love my outlaw, but the dislikes was no storage unless I added it harder to add my Motorguide xi3 bow mount trolling motor and it was only 11’ 5” long. The SS127 has plenty of storage much easier to rig easier to mount a bow mount trolling motor it’s 12’ 7” long. Now likes both are super stable, both look incredible when rigged out. The perception is cheaper and is a really great kayak, but the ss127 is a lot better kayak in my opinion.

    Excellent job on the review, just subscribed today and I'm interested in the Asend 133X, very affordable and available locally. I do wish it had a peddle drive like the Native Kayak, It would be much better than the storage box in the middle of the kayak. It also does not have a rudder which I prefer, it seems as though it is best off with dual trolling motors. Aside from that, I like it! I'm also considering the Milha Lite Skiff 13 foot which canbe fitted with an outboard motor up to 15 hp. Thanks again for the excellent review!

      So I’m actually about to add a motor on my Teton and I was wondering how did you feed the cord through the two drilled wholes for the foot pedals?

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 2 місяці тому

      @@bullybreed86 I removed the flush mount rod holders drilled the holes on the stern and by the foot pedals. I use a wire clothes hanger and stuck it through the holes on the stern all the way to the flush mount rod holder hole then tied some string to the clothes hanger and pulled it through. Then from by the foot pedals I did the same thing then tied the springs together at the flush mount rod holder then attached the nylon cord to the string on the stern and pulled it all the way to the pedals.

    Great video but one question. How do you transport this to the lake? Does it fit on the back of a pick up truck? or do you have to buy a trailer for it?

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 2 місяці тому

      Thank you!! You can haul it in a pick up truck but you will either need a bed extender or I’ve used a couple 12’ 2x4 it is a very long kayak so you would also need a flag to tie on the end. A trailer is by far the best way to go for it.

    1/2" ID or OD steel pipe?

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 2 місяці тому

      1/2” OD and you can use anything you have just keep the wires protected and help protect the friction of that shaft while cutting.

    How did you run the nylon cable from hole to hole? I drilled mine out but my cable just coils inside the kayak.

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 2 місяці тому

      Remove the flush mount rod holders. Drill the holes by the pedals and at the rear of the kayak. I took a wire clothes hanger straightened it out I stuck it from the rear hole to the flush mount holder hole attached some string and pulled to there then took the clothes hanger from the hole by the pedals and stuck it through to the rod holder pulled string through then tied the string together and from the hole by the pedal I attached the nylon cable to the string and pulled it all the way to the rear. It just takes some patience but it’s very simple.

    What if my old motor has two black wires from the motor wires?

      Is it just 2 big black wires? or one big black one and one small black wire with a big red one?

    Wow I bet you could just go up river for hours as long as your batteries will let you I suppose! I also subbed because that was a damn good video ! It takes a lot of patience and work to set up a kayak like that.

    This is an excellent video. Thanks. I made a video on choosing a deep cycle marine battery for a trolling motor, and I noticed that you have a starter marine battery for this. Do you normally use that for your trolling motor, or were you just using that for this video?

    • @334tacticaloutdoors
      @334tacticaloutdoors 3 місяці тому

      Thank you. I was only using that for the purpose of this video. I use a 50ah ZPRO lithium battery for my trolling motor battery.

      @@334tacticaloutdoors I figured. When I originally bought my trolling motor, I just added it to my Mercury starter battery--learned not to do that and felt like a dope.
