With the original handle on the trolling motor I think you had speeds 1-5. Does the PWM allow you to vary the speed gradually from nothing to full and anywhere in between?
The trolling motor connector came from Academy sports and outdoors. The quick disconnects on my PWM came from Amazon there called 10 gauge sae connectors.
My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

@@334tacticaloutdoors got ya, ya I’m installing a 6 inch hatch in the back for access so I’ll just go there and the front! Thanks!
You’re welcome!!
How long did you leave your shaft
36” long
@@334tacticaloutdoors so you never cut yours down for the teton?
@ArpOutdoors when I cut the head off the trolling motor I cut it to a 30” shaft so yes my apologies I did take 6” off of it. It’s the minnkota 30lb thrust 36” shaft.
@@334tacticaloutdoors thanks I’m trying to follow your build fairly closely I will post to the teton group when I’m done. Names Skyler arp I post in there every once in a while. Thanks for all the info the mount is very strong I don’t think I’ll have any issue and if I did , simple fix would be to install a hatch in the back and add some wood in the inside for the lags to secure too. But I don’t see that happening
@ArpOutdoors absolutely keep us updated, if you have any more questions just let me know.
Did you install or find it necessary to install a 30amp fuse? and if so, did you splice it in on the positive wire running to the battery or to the motor? Also did you find it necessary to set up a kill switch? Thanks again for your time.
I didn’t use one now if you prefer to use one just run it on the power wire coming from the trolling motor
@@334tacticaloutdoors Thanks
You’re welcome.
need your input. Got my kayak out last week for maiden voyage. all went well until I tipped it on 2nd day out. got home and discovered water in trolling motor. what can you advise? It runs but the CWM box controller only goes to 25 max. I need some advise. Thanks
The trolling motor may be ok. Your PWM is probably trash now you’ll need a new one.
@@334tacticaloutdoors You are so kind to respond to my issue. I just opened up the trolling motor, drain all the water that remain, and letting it dry out. Will put it back together tomorrow. Wish me luck, watched a couple of videos tonight on assembly. As for the CWM, the box was opened up and there was water inside the box. I think you are right, the water as compromised the board. I will order me a new one. Thanks again for your help. Your videos had inspired me to retro my kayak as you had done.
Thanks Gary J
@@GaryJohnson-cm9tv yea water will destroy electronics, always try to keep the trolling motor too where the wires come out seal it off so no water gets in there. And thank you for the kind words I’m glad my videos help.
Do you let the shaft just free slide through the actual transom mount?
Yes it free slides, the trolling motor lock keeps it from coming out.
@@334tacticaloutdoors thanks man. Still trying to work this out for my motor.
@@clogic7445 well let me know if you have any more questions, I’ll help the best I can.
I have the same ya. I'm curious how you get the steering cable thru the holes you drilled? I have my motor set up but still waiting to find out how I wanna set the steering up
I removed the flush mount rod holders and used a wire clothes hanger to reach from the rear hole I drilled then pulled string through. Then did the same from the front hole to the rod holder then taped my wire to the string and pulled it through.
@@334tacticaloutdoors sweet. It's such a sleek look. Thanks for the info. 👍🏼
@@Trevor-Kyles-Things thanks. I appreciate you watching. Ever have any more questions just ask.
Awesome setup! How many amp hours do you get out of your battery? What kind of range would you get with a 12V 300 amp hour battery?
Thank you!! I get 7 hours of run time. I have a video up of my battery setup. If you use a 100ah battery you would get a day and a half at least it does all depend on your battery, type, and amps the trolling motor uses.
Would you mind providing measurements for the main base of the transom mount?
You want measurements of the kayak base or the base I built?
@@334tacticaloutdoors the base that you had built, i think you had said you had used cutting boards right? was just wondering of the measurements of the piece that screws in to the kayak, cause i can't seem to measure mine right enough to get a proper accurate measurement
@@dakotadugger8803 I have a video on my page of building that bracket. If it doesn’t answer your question message me back. Building and installing trolling motor bracket and installing a trolling motor.
ua-cam.com/video/RmFjpjfEQag/v-deo.html
@@dakotadugger8803 mine is 9 1/2 inches across that base I measured in 1 3/4 inches. The best way to achieve a center point is after you build the bracket put it up on the kayak and measure each side of the bracket to make sure there both the same.
@@334tacticaloutdoors so the video where you made the bracket you only did the part where you secured it to the kayak via 2 L brackets, now it seems you have a big piece of polygranite cutting board again screwed into the kayak
Dude I have same exact kayak and I did the same exact build, almost 😅 identical!! Enjoy man
That’s awesome. Same to you enjoy.
I have the same kayak, just bought the trolling motor and mounted it on and I’m wanting to set up the steering controls like you did. How did you run the wiring through your kayak after you drilled the holes?
I pulled the rod holders out took two wire clothes hangers straightened them out tied some string to them and fished the string all the way through then took some electrical tape and taped my wire to the string and pulled it back through. Use the rod holder hole as your halfway point.
Did you like this Yukon or the outlaw 11.5 better?
I actually like them both about the same. Each one has a disadvantage over the other, but overall they’re both great kayaks.
With the original handle on the trolling motor I think you had speeds 1-5. Does the PWM allow you to vary the speed gradually from nothing to full and anywhere in between?
Yes it does. And that’s a very good question. You get a lot more control over the speed of the trolling motor that’s what helps save the battery life.
What handle is that to pull up
The trolly motor by any chance
It’s a lawn mower pull handle from lowes. It’s in the lawn mower parts section.
@@334tacticaloutdoors okay thanks did you just tie a knot for it not to move up and down or ?
Yes I did
Where did you get all those quick contest for the cables??
The trolling motor connector came from Academy sports and outdoors. The quick disconnects on my PWM came from Amazon there called 10 gauge sae connectors.
Do you have a template for the rear motor mount?
ua-cam.com/video/RmFjpjfEQag/v-deo.html this is how I built the trolling motor mount.
What size trolling motor did you use?
I used a 30lb thrust 12volt minnkota endura ct.
@@334tacticaloutdoors THX. Just saw this in Walmart...$550 sound right for kayak?
@@starchaser2489 yes that sounds right for the lifetime Yukon angler 116.
Okay I’m back lol,, what size or type of wire/cord are you using for steering?? TIA
That’s peerless 1/16 vinyl coated wire

Yes it is. I’ve surely enjoyed mine.
Did you know if you mount a trolling motor on a Lifetime kayak . According to Lifetime it voids your warranty. Also PENNSYLVANIA FISH AND BOAT REQUIRE A FORM FILLED OUT BY LIFETIME IN ORDER TO GET IT REGISTERED IN PENNSYLVANIA
Well I did a warranty claim on my seat a few weeks ago and had no issues and mine was registered without any issues, but I live in Alabama. Always good to know what other states want allow.
Got a question? Have bow mount motor with foot peddle no bracket of any kind. Shaft appears to have balance block on it. I can cut it down. Would I still need weight on shaft? 2 can I use any mounting bracket on shaft?
Yes you would still need some balance and you can make a bracket.
Dude u r ule. Actual reply. Sir I'm just about an old man now, found a jayK a dog had chewed hold in bow. Thought I'd cover it in fiberglass. Came back to our little shop after dinner and my brother surprised me and had plastic welded back together. You could not see any damage. Found that trolling motor I mentioned and went to looking for rigged sneak boats from my day. Found you. Ok so now I'll get my brother the mechanical engineer lol to watch your videos with me. He'll see what your doing and I'll chase parts and tools as usual. Thanks for response. I hope I can throw questions again if I need more help. Your work sure takes me back to some fun times on the water.
