    I know it’s an old video but this video really opened my eyes for the importance of proper hydration. As JM said he is not talking about dehydration, just suboptimal hydration. I’ve used this trick each time I have a big lift lined up and it works absolute wonders

      @ironaddict7472 I like the term "sub-optimal hydration" to make the distinction between it and dehydration. The "normal" feeling of being slightly dehydrated all the tine is very close to the feeling of being fully hydrated or hydrated "good enough." And it passes for acceptable. Just because you aren't cramping up doesn't mean you are at an optimal hydration level for doing your very, very best. Good phrase! Thanks!

    Hello JM Blakley, I am a big fan with a question. I want to be 220 lbs in Bodyweight. I’m a decent bencher at 5’8” at 203 lbs. I don’t train legs that much and my squat is 280 lbs. If I took my squat from 280-440 lbs, do you think I could weigh 220 without bulking, but rather maintaining calories? Brilliant video by the way 🇮🇪

      @sylenx02 What do you intend to build the extra 20 pounds of muscle out of? Hard work? Hope? Prayers? Wishes? Air? You will have to build them out of food just like everybody else. Muscles are made out of food. If you want more muscles, you'll have to eat more calories.

      Wrist problems are a big issue in squatting. As is shoulder irritation. Just like lots of sports, a lack of flexibility limits performance. You have to stretch. If your shoulders or wrists block you from attain8ng optimal positioning, you have to settle for sub-optimal. In the short term, you can move your hands out tward the collars.

      You can use an electrolyte powder if it suits you. I've always simply enjoyed the taste of Gatorade. If I try to drink it with a meal, it isn't very refreshing. But when I'm hot, thirsty, and tired, it is a wonderful sensation! It's just a habit I've fostered. If your diet is on point, you don't necessarily benefit from extra electrolytes. It's mainly the H2O that is so vital. I sip on a diluted Gatorade during the sessions as a habit as well. But I can't really tell you you "should" drink them. The trick is to find a flavor and sensation that you LIKE so you'll be more likely to keep drinking the fluid. So, opt for something that makes you WANT to drink.

    Cool video. Are there any simple exercises one can do to "train" their desire for something? You mentioned somewhere that you can 'train' Discipline by tying your shoes repeatedly at some interval. I'm wondering if there's an elegant exercise like this for Desire.

    • @jm7thlevel237
      @jm7thlevel237 9 місяців тому

      The first exercise that I tried was one of a "discovery-type" nature. It centered on uncovering ones deeper motivations for desiring something. It's just asking "Why?" over and over until you come to am snswer that both emotional and personal. That means your answer has nobody else attached to it but yourself and it is connected with a feeling rather than a concept. You can't stop asking why until both requirements are met. In exploring one's desire to achieve a college degree, it's far from over to answer the why question ,"Because I want a good job." The next "Why?" explores why you want a good job. Answering that with ,"Because I want to get married ...ect" involves other people. So you ask about why the desire to marry is there. And on and on it goes until it comes to a deeply personal (private) and emotional rationale. The exposure of deeper motives likely enhances the strength of the desire. Other exercises are ones that involve creativity. Writing about ones desire is a creative activity that explores the roots of it and spending time creating, while engaged with ones desire tends to heighten it. That will get you started.

It is the beginning and I'll only do it better next time. And the time after. I can look back on today and say it was my worst try. I will ONLY get better. Things will improve. Don't think that this is the BEST it gets. It gets way better. This is the worst it will ever be. Tomorrow is another say.

    very good! I wonder if we can stretch the pec minor more effectively from this position, instead of contracting. It would be so useful for correcting rounded shoulders. There are many videos in YT about it (like door stretch etc) but they are not as effective since the pec minor is mainly a respiratory muscle, linking the scapula and the ribs.

    Wise words. You couldn't be more right. I was already injured, but got cut down by Covid. It's been a long three years back to something resembling progress. In line with what you said: compare not to where you were at your best, but how much better you are than yesterday post-injury, is exactly what I started doing. Drawing a new baseline and forgetting that the weight for my deadlift now used to be my bench. It doesn't matter because two years ago I couldn't deadlift at all. I keep thinking back to when I couldn't even do a bodyweight squat or even kneel down.

I also did them at several angles from flat to inclined in my bodybuilding days. I have to admit that the angle I chose to demo this was not optimal for true pec minor activation or isolation. Perhaps I could have shown a spread of angles and spoken more about the serratus. Maybe a video that shows more angles and illucidates what you've pointed out is in order for the future. Will try this out in my next session! This advice reminds me of something I used to do when I was mountain biking. When I would ride rough terrain I'd look at the rocks or roots I wanted to avoid. And I was always told to look where I wanted to go. Look at the path between the obstacles, not at the obstacles, and the body will follow your eyes. Tried it and it helped immensely. I can only imagine this works the same way. We look at what we do right and teach our brain to do our best rep every rep.

If you can give me something new...I promise you, I'd be thrilled! Throw a bone my way. And, if you're as willing as I am to consider the opposing viewpoints, maybe I can do you the same service. This is not a bait. I'd like to know what you find disagreeable about something I've said. But bear in mind, it moves nobody forward if you just claim that I'm wrong. You'll be asked to show me why. @@jm7thlevel237 It is always possible to find common ground, if the interest is legitimate from both. To make my concern general so everyone reading this can get both our points of view, I would claim that your logic and reasoning for the wast majority is straight out of the lodges (masonry). Especially when it comes to the subject work. As long as the masons are the stooges of the jesuits (and jews), doing all the heavy lifting by exploiting people right, left and center, you can do all the work in the world not leading you anywhere, due to the complete corruption of our society. In regards to work on the subject of training that is an extreme long term commitment to make gains without the use of steroids (and the abuse of food). Realistic parameters would be much appreciated, especially since you know how difficult progress is even with the use of steroids. The doctrine of masonry (and jesuits and jews) are extremely dangerous as it replace our Almighty Justice with the individual itself as the supreme being. Well, they claim satan is their God of worship but in fact they worship themselves. Funny how they want to become God (our Almighty Justice / Almighty Creator), when they deny the existence of God in the first place. The doctrine of masonry (and any other religion for that sake) can be destroyed in one single move; the sun is not a physical object but a reflection of the moon. If you visit my channel you can have a look at it yourself. I am all about evidence which each individual can verify for themselves and not just a theory, or indoctrination for that matter. Even if there are bits and pieces of truth in masonry, the real danger is that it flips the individuals perspective 180 degrees, and then you end up losing your life. That is exactly what satan wants, hence why that entity invented all religions (masonry included), as the only thing in this world which holds any value is the life of the individual.

They had a complete neutral, blank face showing no effort and their last rep looked exactly the same as the last one. I was much weaker than a lot of the guys in the gym but now I'm stronger than most of them and caught up to even my friends who started working out months or even years before me simply because I wanted every set and every workout to be as high quality and as high effort as possible. I deeply respect you dude. Always have and found how you explain things to be authentic and from a place of genuine care/kindness that is very rare these days.

    As usual Awesome information coach. Appreciate your efforts of spreading awareness free of cost. Following your advices have always resulted positive. BTW you look like that you have joined a Harley Biker Gang, did you ?
