Jesus expresses this many times in the Bible. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

You strike me as a big reader JM. I'd love to see a video of you picking out your favorite 5 books and talking about why you picked those 5, and what they've changed for you.
    Take care.

I read quite a good bit these days. I have time! I am so fond of Kurt Vonnegut that I read his entire body of work this past summer. Slaughterhouse Five is my favorite, but a quote from a lesser known work has rocked my socks and I'll be doing some videos about it soon. I have now begun my fall/winter mission of covering the big Fydor Dostoyevski books. His style (depending upon translation) isn't anything special but his ideas are superb. Outside of texts, I've been partial to Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Candide, Walden, etc all in the classics that EVERYBODY loves. Nothing unusual. I'm NEW to fiction believe it or not. I read physiology texts, religious texts, psychology texts and generally ONLY things that I deemed would help me as a competitor. So fiction was abandoned after high school English! Now, I'm returning with renewed enthusiasm. I am finding PLENTY of things that could have built me up as a competitor in the good stuff I was missing. Everything has a season, I've been told. Please choose one book you recommend that I read. Also brief me on why you chose that one. Thank you.

@@jm7thlevel237 I can relate to what you’re saying. I’m 26, and I do read quite a bit. But I feel like whatever im reading these days - I do it with the intent of achieving more success financially and academically.
Books are a underappreciated medium in the age of feverish consumption, and I regret not doing it more for enjoyment. Especially since I have an easy time painting images in my head whenever a story is told.
I looked up Fyodor Dostoevsky, and decided to order “The Idiot” and “Crime and Punishment” on a whim, which texts in particular are you looking to dive into this winter?
As for book recommendations I should preface that I’m at a point in my life where I’ve mainly read “self-help books”. Dale Carnegie wrote a very popular book called “How to win friends and influence people” which is, in my opinion a very clichéd title and should instead be called “How to become a better person”
Anyways, there’s a quote in there where I can draw similarities to what you’re discussing in the video, it goes like this: “Be heart in your approbation and lavish in your praise”; I think if you live by that principle you’ll practice a lot of Unjustified Goodness.

I read Notes from the underground and the Brothers Karamazov earlier in my life. I am midway through Crime and Punishment and plan to read The Idiot and Demons. I am no big fan of his writing style. But he approaches some critique of society and religion from interesting perspectives. I read Carnegie when I was 18 and remember and apply lots of concepts to this day. At the top of my list are giving compliments w/o flattery, calling people by name, and looking at people when you listen or speak to them. It's time to revisit him!

Thanks for speaking on a spiritual level. The only mistake in life is not to accept that everything within it is a spiritual experience!

Another great video JM! One of my favourite quotes is “Those who are hardest to love need it the most.” -Socrates.

JM I know this may hit on a personal level but I hear you speaking Christian undertones and beliefs. Are you a Christian sir?

I was raised as such, and all my values are rooted there. What I struggle with is the exclusion of all other Faiths as heretical. From my understanding of Christ's teaching (again, as is MY understanding) we are called to love them. What would happen to the world if I (or anyone else) were to love someone who was not deserving of love? That did not merit love? What happens if I show kindness to someone who deserves derision? From what I can see, nothing bad! I have chosen to be kind to those who are unkind. To love those who are less than lovable. I have exempted myself from judging them as "in" or "out" of my group. I just put a big circle around them and choose compassion. I let God judge them if He be so inclined. Or to forgive them if that suits Him. Me, I accept them. If God rejects them, that's none of my business. I feel called to include them. My Christian friends seem to think something terrible will happen if I don't "denounce evil". I want to be clear: I DENOUNCE EVIL! I just treat evil doers with compassion. All the while not condoning, supporting, or engendered it. I despise it. But I can choose how I treat anybody. I've chosen kindness. That has in some way I can not understand gotten me excluded from Christian circles. So it goes. Living as a kind person and not having the burden of having to decide to love or not to love is more than worth it. What do you think of all that? I hope I explained it right.

@@jm7thlevel237 Sir we are both on the same page I believe except that are other faiths that can lead you to Jesus. The Bible simply says and I know you know this as well. “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father but through me.” You and I know where we will spend our eternity when we breath our last breath on this earth. We are here to simply spread the seed and God will cause the growth.
