I know it’s an old video but this video really opened my eyes for the importance of proper hydration. As JM said he is not talking about dehydration, just suboptimal hydration. I’ve used this trick each time I have a big lift lined up and it works absolute wonders
@ironaddict7472 I like the term "sub-optimal hydration" to make the distinction between it and dehydration. The "normal" feeling of being slightly dehydrated all the tine is very close to the feeling of being fully hydrated or hydrated "good enough." And it passes for acceptable. Just because you aren't cramping up doesn't mean you are at an optimal hydration level for doing your very, very best. Good phrase! Thanks!
Great stuff. I'm in the 4l/day range (at 240 walking-around weight) and will definitely ramp it up to 6l for 3 days before my heavy day. Is a follow-up discussion on rehydration techniques after a water cut & weigh-in possible?
You can use an electrolyte powder if it suits you. I've always simply enjoyed the taste of Gatorade. If I try to drink it with a meal, it isn't very refreshing. But when I'm hot, thirsty, and tired, it is a wonderful sensation! It's just a habit I've fostered. If your diet is on point, you don't necessarily benefit from extra electrolytes. It's mainly the H2O that is so vital. I sip on a diluted Gatorade during the sessions as a habit as well. But I can't really tell you you "should" drink them. The trick is to find a flavor and sensation that you LIKE so you'll be more likely to keep drinking the fluid. So, opt for something that makes you WANT to drink.

very nice, how about a teaspoon of extra sodium while drinking all that water? wouldn't that help extra?
What about maintenance for lifters? Thoughts on this? Thanks for the great video!!
Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
👍🏻
what if drink more than 5 litlers every day?I am optimal for all workouts?
I feel like I’m not getting enough, I sweat a lot also. Do you recommend adding anything to water, after a workout where you sweat a lot.
