  • Talking about the urgency of TODAYS training session and requisite recovery from it in plain terms. How many workouts that "don't count" can you afford this month?

I think this is great advice advocating for training with a lot of intensity. I'm trying to maximize intensity in my own training right now. I think one simple practical step anyone can take to facilitate this is to train less often. It makes each workout much more important and minimizes fatigue between workouts.
I'd love to hear more about how we can optimize our recovery. Peace!

Super important advice. I started working out a year ago in a small gym and I would look around the room between sets and look at people training and almost none of them worked hard. They had a complete neutral, blank face showing no effort and their last rep looked exactly the same as the last one. I was much weaker than a lot of the guys in the gym but now I'm stronger than most of them and caught up to even my friends who started working out months or even years before me simply because I wanted every set and every workout to be as high quality and as high effort as possible. I've never been stronger than before and I'm catching up to everyone I know in my lifts.

I deeply respect you dude. Always have and found how you explain things to be authentic and from a place of genuine care/kindness that is very rare these days.

How did you progress with the Singles portion of your workout? I know near max singles but did you increase the singles by 5lbs like you did the 6x6 (only increasing when you moved up on your 6x6)? Or was there a set progression each week no matter what? Or were the singles done by feel each workout (Auto Regulated)?

They were a REACTION to my strength gains. They didn't cause them. Because 1 rep at a submachine weight does noth8ng to promote strength. The near max singles were to PRACTICE mindset and technique, not to gain strength. They are to gain confidence and practice skill. Move them up in register with strength gains by feel, as you suggested.
