Percival Parkway
Didn't holden have an optional 350 motor?
I vaguely remember this ad.
5:37 Nice little in joke, overtaking a Falcon, lol!
Memories ❤
They were ahead of their time.. ..really a commodore
5hitbox then,5hitbox now
Good grief... a cut price Elma Fudd selling new Holden's...😂😂😂😂😂
No way that EH went around that corner so quickly. Because if so with its God awful body roll it would be on its roof😂
they speedup the film speed
3:30 Why is that commodore sitting so lop sided?
The dude driving the car must be very heavy?
Love the colour.
You couldn't have picked a fatter less round type of coin.
Hey buddy, thank you for the video. Very informative. I need to tell you that the old projector sound effect you have is just way too loud and becomes monotonous. Maybe cut it back by 50% or so? Just a suggestion, my friend. Thanks again.
50 years ➕️kingwood experience
Brings tears to a fellas eyes. RIP Holden. You made good cars. My VN is proof of that.
My Dad had an ĤX Premier 4.2 in 1978 New company car.Bronze colour Brown Vinyl Bucket Seats.A/C P/S Tbar auto. Was a cool car❤
by the way my brother had a penal van version of this car as he swas really a good car he had done it up being a penal beater at the time i knew i saw this car being done up really nice as he says to me he got it from somone who was selling it toget moneyu for a house so he got it at a really good price as far i knwew thiswas a really good car as he car was a Panel van version as you guys dont really understand there was a Panel van versions was on themarket at the tie time too thiswas based on what i knew from my bros car ws a van version of the geminis cars thiswas really what i knew hes car was a td versions thiswas the 1,6 liter versions thiswas really i think that car was a 5 speed man trans models as the van versions of this car had the 5 spd trans in it at as i knew thiswas really the case as far i knew thiswas really the case in my vies on these Geminis was a really good cars in the day was late 70s and 90s too as these cars was a hit witl low income drivers too thiswas based on what i knew
Such different times great days.
It’s not that small.i have driven modern small cars that are bigger inside and not much larger outside.
I❤it's
Really like look of vh commodore!
If only the powers to be allowed the 4 wheel drive technology to compete at Bathurst, I’m sure Holden and Ford would still be in Australia today. HSV offered 4WD in the Monaro range. This was a lost direction in Australia
Much better looking than the EJ
3.3 asthmatic wheezebox engines.
Had a 72 De Ville in the 1980s. 308 Trimatic console shift. Should have kept it.
But can I get air conditioning?
1:30 - I do love me a bit of casual sexism- his 'n' hers transmissions! Auto for 'the ladies', and manual for 'the men', haha. Seriously though, the VL Calais is still a great looking car, nearly 40 years later. The VL Commodore doesn't look too bad for its age either, to be honest. Thanks for uploading these promo films, GMHNUT. They are a very cool bit of Aussie history, cheers.
I'm curious. I watched that a few times and couldn't notice the casual sexism. Both looked like men's hands? I agree, the Calais still looks excellent. In fact even in this when compared to the lower models, it really stands out.
Not much difference between the HJ and HX ..you could play spot the difference
Makes me wonder why they even bothered with the V6, to be honest, supercharged or not. Monaro has always meant V8 to me! I always loved this design- the VT/VX. Def in my top 3 Commodore designs, along with the VK and VZ.
Sadly GMH (Holden) no longer exists as a company. Thankfully, I still have a 2002 VY Berlina wagon- all original in pretty good condition- to keep the Australian built car dream alive. To some extent anyway! Thanks for the upload, even though I'm 5 years late lol
And then it all came to an end in 1997 ,,, No longer an Aussie V8 & Birth of the bow tie badging ...
Yep. Chev shit.
1997? Holden 304 5l ran threw till 2000
I concur about the HJ Premier being comfortable. Mine was extremely comfortable. Beaut car.
Not a VN but I just bought myself a VF SV6 in Red Hot. Love my big V6 Holden Commodore wagon
What's the standing 1/4 mile of an SLR 5000, what's the 5000 stand for ?
My mum had a TC sedan with optional automatic and A/C. I didn’t like it back then today I’d love one. Simple small car something missing from today.
Bought a demonstrator model as my first car....beige with the green plaid interior. Turned out to be uninspiring for a young bloke though the RTS worked ok....maybe it was because my parents advised me to buy it instead of something a young bloke would have really wanted. Traded it in after 7 years for a Mitsubishi Scorpion...now that was a fun car to own.
ZZ/Z
Another brilliant version of the mighty Holden Torana! These were a limited edition model obviously. Most likely limited colour availability too I'm guessing. I've seen a yellow one like the one in the clip. I think it could be absinth yellow being an LH Torana and I've seen a red one. Not in real life though unfortunately. The red one could possibly be a mandarin red. I don't think Salamanca red was available on the LH Torana like it was on the previous LJ model. Don't know what other colours were available with this limited edition model other than the two I've seen. Someone will definitely know more about the G-Pak Torana than I do and might wish to enlighten me on what other colours were available.
A very bright green was also available.
@@noelgibson5956 Ah righto. That's interesting to know.
I bet that’s not SORBENT toilet paper! It wouldn’t have snapped if it was….
Had 3 of them tx tg tf bullet proof. Run on a oily rag so to speak.had two sedans one van brilant little cars. Wish isusu bring back the car not just suvs
Another version of the almighty Torana. Torana 1900S and 1900SL. Australian touring car champion, Colin Bond at the helm in the promotion clip. Gee he looked cool with that hairstyle with the bold sideburns and aviator style sunnies 😎. Those were the days. Driver and car as one.
And they had to have it overtaking the opposition, an XA falcon, would rather have the XA thanks.
4:15… sideways at 300kms/hr WOW
Safer????? that car scored worst for crash safety test in 1993, that forced Holden to introduce VR Commodore with airbag.
These cars are worth a bit of money nowadays. Original unmolested examples are hard to find. Federal politicians of the day would've loved driving those statesmans.
Bad advice really, slam on the brakes and hold straight, not swerve and risk going head on into oncoming traffic! They should have made bigger changes after the HQ, not sit on their bums with minor facelifts, the Torana was the way forward, competing with the smaller incoming Japanese cars. We should have had the comfort and tech of the Japanese cars in a Torana sized vehicle and exported them.
I do kinda miss my old VH...was only a 6 cylinder but a great car.
