Hi John. I have a question. Can you remember if the alloy wheels were ever an option on the SLX? This video says it was only an option on the SL model?
These cars were very popular with young adults. Especially women. TG Gemini was the last of the rear wheel drive Gemini's. All Gemini's from TX to TG were built at Holden's Acacia ridge assembly plant which was located just out of Brisbane in Qld. These cars were brilliant. They made great first cars for new drivers. Make great budget classics these days.
I LIKE HOW YOU SAID THAT THIS HOLDEN GEMINI IS ONE OF THE MOST IDIOT PROOF CARS EVER MADE. I AM CURRENTLY SOURROUNED BY IDIOTS WHO ARE STUPID. IF YOU WANT TO KICK AN IDIOT PROOF FOOTBALL THEN REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE
I remember the gemmies they were great tough little cars and far better than the camira wich was plagued wit prablems and the gemmy had all the fetures that people were wanting in a small car. Go the gemini.
Franz Chong. Help what, the gemini engines were bulletproof proof and with a little head work and extractors went like a rocket. The piazza was a pile of shit.
I bought a TG Gemini SL/X brand new in 1985. While fun to drive it was poorly built. Panel gaps were huge and the paint quality could best be described as marginal. I now live only a kilometre away from where the Geminis were built (Acacia Ridge). To me, it's a miracle that Holden didn't go broke sooner....
The ZZ/Z was a special "sports" model that Zupps Motors [at that time Australia's #1 Holden dealer] designed and built. Yes it most definitely was sold [I had one for a time] though I know not in what numbers.
My Ford KE laser has an OHC 1.6 like this with x flow alloy head. Now I know why they sound so similar. I mainly watched this to see what the visual quality was like on laserdisc.
Had 3 of them tx tg tf bullet proof. Run on a oily rag so to speak.had two sedans one van brilant little cars. Wish isusu bring back the car not just suvs
that was then.such a shame we were denied this car's european opel kadett replacement in 1980 and the model that followed it in 1984 so were stuck with this design till mid 85.who knows how things would have been like had they followed the european model path instead of sticking with this, then the rb gemini and assorted badge engineered nissan and toyota clones till 1996 which arrived belatedly with the tr astra which would be the spiritual successor to the original gemini that started it all in 1975 for holden australia.

As a salesman in a Holden dealership the Gemini was never a problem to sell, a great little car.

1:46 nice shot of the factory panel gaps.
It's not a fault, it's a feature at no added cost!
None of the front lines up 😅
@@assada Umm, those aren't gaps, they're aerodynamic vortex generators!
Here in the USA, the Gemini was called the Isuzu Imark.
Or Chevrolet Chevette
@@sutherlandA1 Or Pontiac T1000.
Internal hood release. Omfg.Lock down antenna. Badass car
Had a new TG SL/X sedan as my first car in 1984. Lots of good memories....one of the most idiot proof cars ever made :)

simple and effective....nothing on this car that should not be there...what an era...normality is a beautiful thing
Wow, I didn't think such luxury was possible, but there you go!
Sure my Gemini at 49kw makes overtaking suicidal, but its super smooth.
This model sold well because it looked like a mini Commodore.
had a TE Gemini man had fun in that
14:25 . "pickin up barbara for hot swingers party"
+Bob Brown (OMGWTFBBQ) Old fashioned courtesy... Doesn't happen today....I wish it still did...
LMAO.
Yep - at 14:20 - He's getting high-levels of trim alright....
You think they could try to get a car where the front panels and bumper even remotely lined up for the demonstration video...
LoL
Cool old small cars, we fitted a 2lt 5 speed, after the 1.6lt 4 speed died in it. Big difference in power easy up grade.
I would like to know would a piazza engine had been available it might have helped things.
My panel van ran a 1.8lt and it was great, but first gear was useless. Always started in second, so my 5-speed became a 4-speed again :D
Franz Chong. Help what, the gemini engines were bulletproof proof and with a little head work and extractors went like a rocket. The piazza was a pile of shit.
Also known as the Chevy Chevette. I would have like to seen 86 and 87 chevettes look like this when the composite headlights were allowed in the U.S.

I believe the last score for the girls was juice. They really were real pros at hitting those balls.
3:57 - "a new type of low-fog vinyl".... 🤣
Never heard of the ZZ/Z ? The bonnet fins look like pedestrian killers. Did these get sold ?

That music tho 😊
Wow! Did you Aussies just install rectangular Opel Kadett D headlights on an ancient Opel Kadett C?!
Nope, these are Isuzu designed and manufactured lights. Holden and Isuzu redid the front and rear styling in 79.
Have a set a brand genuine new indicator lenses in boxes for this car for sale. Isuzu part number and GMH part number.
AM radio!Shut up and take my money now.!

The way it should be!!
Had 3 of them tx tg tf bullet proof.

So basically, Holden gave you fuck all in a car.
