I would hope this new liner with the 1:16 twist would be the answer for an FX liner shooting .177 caliber slugs. I tried the 1:18 twist in my FX Impact with a 600mm liner using an Eagle Vision tuner for harmonics and groups were shotgun pattern. Since I wanted to use these .177 slugs weights I bought I ordered a 450mm Alfa Precision barrel for my Leshiy 2. So far the 10 grain and 13 grain Zans are consistently shooting MOA at 50 yards. Is your barrel tensioned and are you using a carbon fiber liner sleeve. I look forward to seeing if you can get consistent groups with this new .177 slug liner.

Nice results! I am tempted to get the liner as well, mine is the 25 cal Superior Heavy STX 800 mm and shooting 37 to 56 gr slugs, it gives me the feeling I can squeeze a bit more out of the M4. Cheers!

Nice results Peter, would see how the 20 and 22 gr from Zan do. Just got some 22 today. First time a long trip since my mishap. Krale has them in the shop now. Also got some ELR 42.3 gr ,22 for my other project. But realy would like to see what the 1-16 liner does with the 20 and 22 gr 177.

Søndag var sku en dejlig dag, MHT vinden i det mindste. Lidt koldt udenfor men inde i skuret 14 grader og varm kakao. 4 - 5 timer grov hygge med 13 gr Zan på 120 M og lidt kortere fordi jeg fik nogle nye spinnere vi stillede op og testede Fredag. Og god ide de spinnere er hvis meget .22 rimfire minded, men i det mindste med " træet " skiftede vi fjedrene og så kan man lige flippe dem fra side til side med 10 grain pellets på 55 M De konventionelle spinnere, well den store af den, den gynger kun når den bliver ramt, selv med en 13 grain slug, ikke engang sikker på 16 grain vil kunne få en omgang ud af den. Men den lille og mellemste størrelse spinner de kan godt snurre rundt. Nakkede også en mus fredag aften, der er langt imellem dem nu og rotter har vi ikke set i over en måned. Det er også farlig for dem at stikke næsen frem på min makkers matrikel. 🙂

Peter, thanks for all your efforts and videos to help others in the airgun field. Recently, I was at the shooting range and speaking with a powder burner. He relayed an issue that he has. His rifle up to 100 yards is spot on. But at 120 yards the group starts to dramatically open up. Any further, and the rifle demonstrates more of a shotgun pattern. He spoke to an engineer at the bullet plant and was told the problem was the barrel twist rate. As the projectile starts to lose velocity, it also starts to lose the ballistic performance. The spin starts to disappear. Finally, the spin fails, and the bullet begins to tumble. I was thinking that maybe a series where you test projectiles at ever increasing ranges. I’ve had projectiles shoot pellet on pellet at 30 yards, when I increase to 50 yards, it’s still very tight but starting to open. As the range increase, the worse it gets. Maybe, I’m experiencing the same things as the powder burner. I know people will say it’s all about the tune; and I agree, the correct tune makes a world of difference. Competition shooters don’t have a “one tune” scenario. They tune their airguns for a certain distance. Or at least I do. One final thing, I noticed you’re still using the older version of the FX Chronograph. The newer, FX Ballistic Chronograph, gives a lot more information, i.e., BC, velocity at up to four different ranges, etc. But no matter what, keep producing. Your videos are excellent and informative.

Peter I appreciate the time and effort you put into the making of your videos. I recently converted one of my FX Impact barrel kits ( 600mm ) into .177 caliber with some parts ordered from Huma. I have done a basic tune but the weather has been too cold here to begin accuracy testing. In the conclusion of your video you talk about matching your tune to your purpose. I agree in that I determine the purpose, distance and power needed for the tune. I mainly do pest control and hunting. It would be hard to do as you do using velocity alone to get the best harmonics for accuracy. That is why with my other FX Impacts shooting slugs in other calibers I have always used their tuner shroud or tuners. Then I can tune to a power level and adjust the tuner for group accuracy. Lately I have went to the Eagle Vision tuners as their fit, finish and quality is so much better than the FX harmonic tuners. Have you ever tried the harmonic tuners on your FX Impact. Thanks

I shoot the 16gr zans at 975fps, i only hunt and I'm shooting pigeons out to 140yds and they are so freaking good Also the expansion of these slugs are incredible, they surprisingly hit very hard Thanks to u for doing all the leg work, made tuning very easy M3 with 700mm barrel Reg at 110 Power wheel 8 Micro at 3.5 Stock gun with factory hammer, i think the 7 gram or 9 gram would help with harmonics Factory hammer is to light with the size of plenum in all calibers, I mostly shoot 22 and 177 Great video, keep up the good work!

Hello Peter!! When you installed that 1st stage reg, you also installed the gauge. Is that gauge the same as the factory back gauge? Does it uses any kind of washer? Thanks.

It constantly amazes me the accuracy of .177 over 100m! I haven't seen anyone else on youtube shoot .177 so accurately at distance and provide such detailed information. Brilliant work. #vikingairgunner

FX used to have a "slug" liner which was superb with NSA Slugs, about 6/7yrs ago, then they came out with the STX liner. As for the Standrada & Heavy liners it makes no difference which you try for light or heavy projectiles as the tolerances in production are rather poor. I have a standard 30cal that loves 59gr slugs, but the Heavy liner loves the 44.5gr. As I say to others, just try with what you have & then decide, don't think you need a Heavy liner to shoot slugs/heavy projectiles as that is just naive. Love your videos, easy going compared to the sponsored BS ones
