FX IMPACT M4: 1st Stage Regulator Install: Is It Worth It? | FX Impact M4 Series pt. 4

  • In this video, I take another exciting step in my journey of upgrading the FX Impact M4, continuing my mission to build the ultimate setup. This time, I’m installing a first stage regulator, a feature I became very familiar with while tuning my FX Impact M3. Many shooters have been asking if this upgrade makes a real difference, and I'm here to find out.
I start by diving into the technical aspects of regulators-exploring different springs, configurations, and why they’re crucial for fine-tuning performance. But more importantly, I test how the first stage regulator affects some of the common problems like slow first-shot velocity and dreaded regulator creep.
Through two different tuning methods, I demonstrate how these adjustments can influence both consistency and speed. Plus, I run tests to see how fast the regulator fills the plenum after a shot, a key factor in maintaining performance during rapid firing.
By the end of the video, you'll have a clear understanding of whether a first stage regulator is an upgrade worth considering for your shooting style-or if it's unnecessary for certain setups. This is not just a review, but an in-depth look into how these components can take your FX Impact M4 to the next level of precision and reliability.
Make sure to subscribe and follow my channel for more detailed tests, upgrades, and adventures with the FX Impact M4!

Hey Peter, you can run your front pic rails still if you want with the tensioner, just not with the stock shroud. Just use only the back holes.
I'll send you a couple photos.

Thank you for the video, great test. I agree, having 2 regs can only be a good thing with consistency. That’s a good test with adjusting the front valve to make first shot speed more consistent from the get go. I find my gun needs a few shots to settle.
I have put thousands of pellets and later, slugs through my gun with very little maintenance. As it was very accurate I didn’t want to upset that by stripping it.
I have now been experiencing some oddities with the first reg pressure, not sure if it’s an issue with the gauge or the regulator.
I must get the courage to remove and strip both regulators to clean and replace orings to hopefully fix it.
It still shoots very accurately despite the oddity which is why it hasn’t been stripped already!
I will have to recap on some of your videos on the regulator maintenance to refresh my memory!

Excellent Video Peter!!! I am following you from Perú!!!! Absolutely 1 or 2 regs depend on your objectives for hunting, hitting a Coin is more than enough, so 1 reg is ok even if you are shooting .177 or low power, low pressure setting, but if you pursue precision in a coin range you have 5 point of difference in a competition, so the 2 reg it's a must.

I have shot some really good groups without the 1st reg, but the consistancy has improved after the install for me.
But anyway you know me - measuring and caring (perhaps too much 😛) about millimeters improvements in group size 😂
I hear you loud and clear. A coin size group will do, but since I am not allowed to hunt here in Denmark I only have the accuracy to focus on. It might have been a different focus if I had been hunting 🙂

I have found with the M4 that it when I make changes to the tune it really takes alot more shots than you would think for it to actually settle in to the settings. For me its been like a full mag or a little more for it to settle in. I’m not a fan of two regs at all on FAC rated impacts . They are more suited definitely for sub 12 where less air is needed and a big differential between the two regs.
I swapped mine out many moons ago with the saber tactical delete the reg. faster replen times more consistent and no sticking of the first reg.
