It's not terribly important or anything but it's pronounced "Roll-eye" (the "ei" in "Rollei" is exactly the same "ei" as in "Leica").
Haha! Yes, I found this out just after making the video 😹😹😹
@@threeminutepro It's a perfect name for a camera, too! 🙂
idiotic! learning to be familiar with a high end camera in seconds! NUTS!
Nice to meet you 😹😹😹
I worked at a camera store back then. Canon is good. Nikon of course, the Nikkormat is cheap and available. The Olympus OM-1 is small and light. I'd avoid the OM-2. Pentax screw mounts aren't worth it at any price. The big format cameras and twin lens reflexes are fun (Mamiya RB, Yashica, Rolleiflex, ....) Remember, like a fine mechanical watch, old cameras had to be serviced every few years to avoid damage. And NEVER point them at the sun, even for an instant. Enjoy!
I’ve not reviewed a Nikkormat yet. I’ll have to put that on the list. 😀
my iso setting is stuck on 200 and doesnt move. how do i fix that? Edit just figured it out you need to pull up
Sounds like you need to get it serviced
Will canon AB-47 automatic flash work ? I know the manual doesn’t mention this but I am wondering as it came with the purchase of the camera! Ty!!!
I can’t find anything on the AB47. I’ve found this article on the AB46, which seems to be made for the AE1: www.photo.net/forums/topic/417622-canon-ab-46-on-new-cameras/ Keep searching on the internet, and don’t use these old flashes on modern digital cameras due to the voltage 😀
@@threeminutepro my apologies, ab-46. I found that article too. Any harm using that flash on the camera, you think ? Ty!!!!
My very first camera, I loved it.
I’ve always wanted one. Lovely piece of equipment 😀
A-1 was less popular as it was more expensive. Canon made also AV-1 which was pure aperture priority, no manual option at all besides 1/60 s.
Yes, I have a video of the AV1. You can check it out on my list of videos 😀
How beautiful the old SLRs and rangefinders are. I lost my interest in photography when digital cameras took over and films and developing them became harder to find. I feel like I'm using a photocopier or Xerox machine with digital cameras.
There’s something classy about older cameras 😀
I found one of these cameras last weekend...$10.00. Looks like it was never used. Came with 7 rolls of film.
Holy moly! What a bargain 😀
I still have my AE1 bought new in the early 80s and all my FD lenses. It started my career as a photographer. Funny in what's old is new again.
Agreed! Running this channel is like being a kid in a sweet shop. 😀
It's 'minus' exposure compensation to fool the camera with non-dx 400 iso film not 'plus'.
Nice 👍
Cheers 😀
Hi, I have this camera. But it’s imposible to use battery. Can I use it without?
No, not without a battery 😀
I have 3, 2 are now broken because of poor quality capacitors. And replacing is a bit difficult and shops chare up to 120€ because they are so inconvenient placed. With the broken upper capacitor i can meter, but i cant wind up or release the shutter. I love the camera clearly, but for this kind of investment I have to be sure to long time use it. There a more reliable alternatives out there. Maybe a mechanical srt 101, 202, 303, xd7 or other brands. But Minolta lenses are really good. And/ but you can always use an adapter and other brands are also very good like canon fd or some nikon stuff.
It’s a shame about the capacitor problem, isn’t it? Agree, I prefer the XD7. Minolta make beautiful looking cameras, I think.
A brilliant talk through of the camera thank you.
You’re welcome 😀
I'm so glad to find your channel!
Thank you 😀
Thank you for this amazing video! I've just received this exact camera as a gift, unfortunataly the wind on lever can't be totally "cranked" and is stuck midway. It shows an "s" instead of the "1" in the video, does it mean it stuck and can't be use? Thank you if you have an idea on what could it be and if you have any tricks to get it back to take pictures!
Welcome! Glad you found it useful. I’d recommend you get it serviced
this camera has literally everything you need and nothing you don't! love the smarts of it as well as the simplicity
Agree, it’s punching well above its weight
Perfect video, this is exactly what I needed to figure out this camera.
You’re welcome! Well done for choosing a fantastic camera 😀
Thank you so much for making this video! I just bought this camera a couple days ago. I watched a few other videos on it and started playing around with the camera. I ran into a problem where I couldn’t advance the film lever after taking a picture. I had to keep taking the back off and then I could wind again. After watching your video, I realized those two little windows need to have the colour coordinated when you put the back on. This solved my problem! I’m so happy. Thank you so much.
You’re very welcome! Really glad my video helped out 😀
great video thank you:) found one on ebay. i have never used cameras before, do you think this would be a great beginner one? Im so excited!
I think this is brilliant for a beginner! The Auto modes are great for getting started. As you learn, you can eventually start using the Manual mode.
@@threeminutepro thank you so much! I bought it now:)
Wow I just got robbed
How much?
Just got the same camera on ebay for 100$ with a 50mm lens and a telephoto lens super excited
Bargain! Which telephoto did you get? 135mm?
@threeminutepro 200mm
very informative video
Thank you 😀
Very informative video!! I love my OM10, but still getting blurry photos for some reason even when I'm pretty sure I'm choosing the correct aperture.
Sorry to hear that. It can happen when set to auto if the light suddenly drops. Do you have the manual adaptor?
Lovely camera which I bought in 1981 and used to get my photography degree. I still use the excellent 50mm 1.7 kit lens on my digital cameras. Another feature is, if the camera battery conks out, the shutter will fire at 125th sec.
Thanks! I missed this. I had an ME Super for years in the 1990s. Possibly my most productive photographic period.
Nice
Thank you 😀
I recently bought an EC, and the shutter opens just very erratically. I get perhaps one image per film despite all other settings being correct. Minox themselves no longer repairs the EC. Has anyone had luck with getting one repaired?
Not that I know of perhaps search on reddit?
Nice video! I also have a Rolleiflex TLR but I think my camera is a bit older than yours, possibly dating back to 1939. I am curious about the web site you mentioned where you found information about the camera by entering the serial number. What is that web site? The serial number on my camera is at the top of the camera, just above the Rolleiflex name. I believe my camera is a Rolleiflex Automat Type 2.
They’re beautiful cameras. I think this was the web page twinlensreflex.eu/tlr66numbers.php
I love my Olympus XA! Glad you're gonna try and find it a new home since you're not gonna shoot it. That's a mature rational view. Me on the other hand I hoard every bit of gear I can. I’ve subbed to your channel cuz I'm trying to immerse my feed in fellow film people. Very nice informative piece! I love the research and attention to detail! Can't wait to see what you shoot next! If you got a minute, check out the pics I got in my Olympus XA POV Photo Walk video I just posted where I shoot some fuji 400 in mine.
Hey mate I loved the video! You have a great channel. Yes, the XA is a great camera, and it was hard to sell it after having it for a few weeks. It’s a real film photog favourite 😀
hello, I have a question, can I shot double exposure with this camera?
Yep. Check out page 48 of the manual: www.cameramanuals.org/canon_pdf/canon_eos_rebel_ti_300v.pdf
@@threeminutepro thank you so much. I think this is going to be my first 35mm camera 🙃
I want one so bad I can taste it. Lol
Buy it! You know you need it 😀
I Loved my Old Rolli!! I used to take pictures for the local paper!!
My absolute favourite camera! I wanted one for ages and then found a mint 3.5 T on ebay 😀
they look the same, i thought it was just a rebrand of the same camera
Haha! Don’t say that to a Nikon or an Olympus fan! 😀
6:35 you have to put the film UNDER the bottom metal beam. See 3:31 in the vidéo called "rolleiflex street photography in paris"
Haha! Not on the 3.5 T - film loading is different to other Rolleiflexes. Thanks for bringing it up, though. I should have highlighted this difference 😀
Great video. subscribed. Almost at 2K subs. Congrats.
Thank you very much 😀
when i click edit in and choose dehancer for some reason it opens for 1 second and then closes. Do you know how i can fix this ?
Do you have a lot of apps running? Perhaps this is a memory issue?
@@threeminutepro no i dont, idk it loads but closes after 1 second like the mouse does that turning thing for a second or tho and then it closes
Very helpful video tutorial. First time that I’m using my Epson V600 to scan negatives, so this was exactly what I needed! Thanks again 👍
You’re very welcome 😀
This video is fantastic. Thank you so much!
Welcome 😀
I was just gifted this camera but I am just now realizing how ...auto it is! I've never heard of 'exposure compensation' before ever! So you can't play with the ISO on this model at all? Then do you add and subtract 1 via exposure compensation setting when you want to override? Am I understanding that or did that make no sense 🤣
Yes, that’s exactly how I do it. I don’t know why Nikon removed ISO from their compact film cameras.
The FA was a logical end-game for the FM/FE series of bodies. Its sales problems were that it offered little beyond what had already appeared before, apart from the matrix metering, which itself was a huge advancement. Unhappily, matrix metering was unable to overcome the fact that the program metering not seen before in Nikons of that series was introduced in the modest FG a year previously and the major price jump for the FA didn't justify its more advanced features. At the time, I wanted an FA, but with an FE2 in hand, so much new cost for so little more camera was a dealbreaker for me. Also, after a couple of years, the FA got a reputation of being unreliable, whether deserved or not. Further, apart from matrix metering, all the advanced exposure automation distinguishing the FA had appeared years before on cameras from other makers, meaning that the market for the FA was largely limited to current Nikon users.
Yes, I agree - the FA was a catchup with other similar cameras. Ironically, matrix metering changed the game. Somehow, Nikon haven’t managed to capitalise on their innovations.
Thank you! Might get one to accompany my d40!
It’s worth the trouble 😀
This was really helpful, thank you !
Welcome 😀
Really appreciated that!
Welcome 😀
I used one for over 20 years - absolutely my favorite SLR! Beat to crap but still works. I also own OM-1, OM-2N, and an OM-PC.
They’re all great! I love the OM2 😀
i was looking up different film cameras and this video convinced me to get an Olympus, thank you for all the helpful info!!
You’re welcome! You won’t be disappointed 😀
Thank you. We have can Epson V600 and use it for scanning and printing photos. We are very happy to find out it will print negatives and slides!! Thank you!!
You’re welcome 😀
I bought this camera in my local thrift shop, I thought it was an amazing pickup for the price, can't wait to take some pictures with it, thanks for the guide!
Yes, it’s amazing value. Happy new camera! 📸 😀
Thank you for the nice video! One question, in M how can I see the metering? Is there some visual indication of the metering?
You need to match the standard exposure index with the exposure level mark on the scale. This is page 99 of the manual. 😀
@@threeminutepro Indeed :-) But the problem is that I don't see this scale in the viewfinder, only f-stop and shutter speed, and a green dot... On my previous cameras this scale was always visible in the viewfinder... Is there any button you should press? or some setting to change? (I'm in manual mode)
Nice to see the OM-10 on UA-cam, thank you. Not sure if the OM-10 does of the film light metering for flash but it does it for regular photography. My OM-10 was the perfect camera for shooting fireworks. Many current Olympus cameras still can do the same with live composite.
Yes, my EM10ii does this very well!
