I bought this camera in my local thrift shop, I thought it was an amazing pickup for the price, can't wait to take some pictures with it, thanks for the guide!
Well, the F60 is a basic no frills 35mm AF SLR. And therefore really good. The mighty Nikon F4 also has only 1 AF Point, no problem with that, and it's exactly the same AF System, into the 1998 F60 here. Also, it does have a bright, all glass Pentaprism, instead of a small, dim-lit Pentamirror, which the F55 does have. The F55 is only avialable into champagner, my F60 is black, as well as my F65, F75, F80 and F100 SLRs. The F55 sucks into many ways: 1) Plastic Bajonett 2) dim-lit, small Pentamirror OVF 3) AF is prone to fail, it was a serial failure on the mainboard, Nikon issued a service bulletin back into the heyday, and serviced, repaired it for free. It could get disfunctional any time, literally 4) No TTL Flash support for external Speedlights 5) No AF-S Lens support If one does need only a basic Setup, with a good light meter, and (old) G Lenses, AF-D AF lenses, the F60 does the trick very well, for my type of photography it's a cheapskate substitute for my better Nikon SLRs. Of course, only 1 dial, no manual ISO Setting (you need to know how-to hack the DX Code onto the Film roll) but since the F60 could being had literally for just 10 bucks, in mint-like condition, and as black body, which does have a better build quality than the here shown champagne version, why bother with the F55?! Funny detail aside, the Multicam AF module inside the F55 is exactly the same, which was being build into the later 2006 Nikon D40. (6 MP, DX/APS-C DSLR)
If you fit an AF-S Nikkor you’ll lose autofocus. Manual focus lenses won’t give you metering. New Z lenses won’t fit. Look at Ken Rockwell’s website to see which Nikon lens works with which camera, and what functionality you get.

And the 55 is so small!
This was really helpful thanks
Glad you liked it 😀
It's 'minus' exposure compensation to fool the camera with non-dx 400 iso film not 'plus'.
Do you have a video on the nikon u film camera. I believe its the same as the nikon 65 but is known as the nikon u in Japan (which is what i have)
I don’t have a video (yet), but you can find the manual online
What's the best auto slr film camera?
Probably this one:
Best value 35mm SLR camera: Minolta Dynax 5/Maxxum 5 in 3 minutes

Does this one work with newer lenses?

Wait so can you get your photos on your computer?
There are a few ways to do this. Check my ‘processing’ playlist.
