Had 2 Silverados, both with the 5.3 and never an issue. I think pushing the 4CYL turbo is just part of the marketing BS to get people to buy that garbage.

I just received a recall letter about the lock up thing on my 2021 Duramax W/ Allison tranny. I traded my 2018 100 year anniversary edition in for the Duramax because the transmission was slipping at 34k miles. All they did was change the fluid and said it was all good! I asked them about all the wear on the clutches because it had been slipping for a while. They said they had to follow GM repair guidelines. I told them they could keep it!

The best deal is definitely the Colorado. You get all the bells and whistles for only 32k. That Trail Boss is bad ass! My second choice would be the Frontier.

i have a like new 2019 1500 ( old style ) with the 5.3L engine ; have had no problems yet , got 75K on it now , use like a car really , at about 62K i plugged in that module to keep engine from switching into 4 cylinders ( have NO noticeable mileage difference ) hopefully for longer engine life ! after watching this video am really thinking of finding something else like the 2.7L as suggested !!

My 2019 6.2l Silverado just shut off on me on the interstate and would not start or even turn over. Only 56k miles on the clock and only 6 months out of warranty. Got it towed to the dealer and found out the engine was locked up tight. I changed the oil every time the notice came up. Come to find out it had spun the rear main bearing. Was going cost me almost $14k for a new motor. Fortunately Chevy stepped in and picked up half of the tab. That tells me right there that they admit they have a problem.

as a Ranger owner im looking at dumping it for a Nissan but that price on the Colorado is nice too and my ranger is only few years old might be worth a trade in.

My 2019 that had 3 miles on it when I bought it has been in the shop five times for transmission issues. Had the torque converter replaced and you name it other than a new transmission. POS. Never again.

My 5.3 is a 2006, the last year for non-AFM. My brother's 4.8 is 2009, the last year for that engine with non-AFM. You can keep the newer "stuff".

Manufacturers need to allow us to choose options we want without having to pay for a package. Dealerships all need to go to fixed pricing, no haggling. People are sick of the current business model. Stop with adons and markups! Until this stuff changes, I'm not buying a new vehicle. I'll maintain the stuff I have.
