The very last thing i would ever want is an E.V. It is just NOT for me and i do not think it is fair they get a $7,500 tax credit. I am a disabled vet how about i get a tax credit?
What if I told you the internal combustion car market has received far more in gov. subsidies than EVs ever will in our lifetime? That being said, EVs should not be priced with gov. incentives in mind.
It won't be the death of EV cars. The only thing the tax credit has served to do is put more money in the pockets of the manufacturers. They simply add on the cost of the credit. Same thing colleges do. They are aware of all the grants and scholarships and they raise tuition accordingly. If the credit goes away, then EVs will have to come down in price to compete with gas cars.
I think the risk of intense fires from EV's scares a lot of people away from them. Burning entire homes, parking garages and closing highways is just a start as these vehicles get older. Any charging stations that are not at your home, charge a huge amount for the electricity. Road taxes are included in the price of gasoline, but in many places these heavier electric cars are running on the roads without any fees. They even get special lanes here in Ontario Canada. Electric cars are causing insurance rates to go up, as they are too fast, and repairs are expensive or impossible and often the vehicle will be written off in an accident. I think money to convert society to electric cars should instead be put into better public transportation.
Yeah there are a lot of little reasons lingering in folks heads that make them worry about EVs like you said. Even charging at home is odd because, you have to charge much more frequently than you would get gas, comparing apples to apples like a Camry to a Tesla.
Tesla doesn’t care about the credits because they’re the only company who can still make a profit without them. Nearly no other company makes a profit on EV’s, even with the credits. No credits would result in more market share for Tesla.
Ding ding ding! You win! This is excellent news for Tesla. Finally, the market will have a chance to speak. My gut tells me that teslas will remain as popular than ever, because they frankly are very good cars for certain use cases (i.e. daily commuting).
All federal or state incentives funded by tax payer money in ALL areas of the economy (which includes gas and oil) should be stopped. These disrupt the market economy.
EVs are a scam. Stop peddling this bs. If it was FREE "and i wasnt immediatelly allowed to sell it for profit and buy an ICE car" I wouldnt even take one.
Stop all tax credits and incentives...reduce EPA standards to allow OEMs time to adjust and add tariffs on completed vehicles only to start...if its built outside of the USA then tack on 25% --> 50% charge + ensure that all revenue from any sales remain in the USA...can't be pushed back to the parent company in a different country...this will shift manufacturing here and not impact existing supply chains.
Tesla does not, they require you to turn the vehicle back in. You would need to read the fine print on all other manufacturers, EV leases are very weird.
Here’s my thoughts on EVs, I will never own one voluntarily! Cars are supposed to make our lives easier and LESS complicated not more complicated. There should be NO subsidies!
I would like to see the incentives removed for used EVs. I think they are improperly propping up the prices of used Teslas. There are 1000s of them on sale but almost all above 20K and then you read the fine print, and it basically says that's the price after discounts.
Hyundai/Kia EVs will survive. Why? Because they didn't go bankrupt even without receiving any tax credits. In fact, the sales of those cars have increased, right?
Nissan has not got into the EV market in a big way either. On purpose or not this could help them out a little. But they’re also not big in hy-bred either.
The EV yearly registration is also something to think about. There are added taxes on the electric bill on top of the yearly registration fees, I'm guessing more than the fuel for a lot of people. The EV mandate will end if we all say no to it. We're good complaining among each other but become monks when it comes to standing up to the political garbage.
Musk is getting on Trump's nerves so I don't think the bromance will last long; after that happens maybe Tesla won't have the advantage it enjoys now...
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) data, hybrid vehicles have the highest fire incidence, with approximately 3,475 fires per 100,000 vehicles sold. Gasoline-powered vehicles follow with about 1,530 fires per 100,000 vehicles. Electric vehicles (EVs) have the lowest fire risk, with only 25 fires per 100,000 vehicles sold
Trump will use anyone for anything. When the richest man in the world came knocking, I'm sure Trump started salivating. Elon will still benefit from all the deregulation that's about to occur across his various businesses.

I love being old school. No BEV’s or hybrids in the garage, or turbos either for that matter. All of my power tools are corded. The lawn mower and snow blower are gas powered. The only rechargeable batteries we have in the house are in cell phones or tablets, and those are only charged during the day when we can keep an eye on them. My neighbor across the street with an attached garage has a BEV and parks it away from the house. That is very inconvenient in the winter.

Wow, you are so short sighted if you want to see the EV credits go. You are just opening the door to the Chinese makers coming in. Why honestly do you care either way? We are in the middle of a forming climate crisis as well, so chopping green energy off at the knees is just a bad idea. People can still buy their ICE cars if they want but for some reason people just don't want anyone to have an EV if the personally don't like them.
I just went to a New car show in South America. Many Chinese autos on display. America and Japan beware 😎On the surface, these vehicles seem to be of high quality ? Very impressed with the BYD
Yeah I think the Chinese will need to wait for the dems to get in office to import here. if they build factories here, costs will just be through the roof, like all other brands due to our wage costs and regs.
The tax credit for consumer purchases isn't helping subsidize battery plants and R&D as you say around the 1min mark. That is conflating the consumer-benefitting credits with a total of around $4.8 billion in grants from the bipartisan infrastructure law passed in 2021. Otherwise the manufacturers bear the up-front outlays themselves. The tax credit is meant to broaden the consumer market for EVs. They have raised prices on ICE vehicles in part to fund their EV adventures. I'm 100% with you on nuclear investment. Between AI and EVs we will need massive amounts of electricity.
I have another video that dives into the subsidies if you are interested in that....I did not want to waste a lot of time in this video explaining where all the money is going, and the lack of jobs it's producing. I also think what was "bipartisan" in 2021 won't be now, it all depends on who has the majority. I actually own a Tesla but I'm a firm believer if you can't sell a car for profit without massively subsidizing it, it should not be on the market.
@@TheCarGuyOnline I generally agree that subsidizing needs to be scrutinized - is there a market failure that a government-led correction will lead to a better outcome for society? But think about the amount of money we spend on roads. Our tax dollars subsidize private vehicle ownership over public transport, rail, etc. We had auto bailouts, Tesla's Fremont facility had a $465 DoE loan; they've sold billions in reg credits, and has gotten preferential treatment from the government of CA. Let's not forget the massive tax giveaways for foreign manufacturers in the US South as well. When we step back and look over time, we have subsidized the auto industry a lot. And just about every manufacturer has taken advantage of these subsidies. It's possible that, optimally, there would only be 3-4 automakers in a more-free market. But then we would also run into some Too Big to Fail situations when economic calamity arrives.
Tariffs don't function as taxes, they're basically an international enforcement mechanism. Putting a flat tariff on EVERYTHING will just raise prices of everything. Transnational companies will just pay the tariff and raise prices down stream on us. cutting taxes to compensate just means consumers pay more and government services are even more underfunded.
@rubberwoody First off,.many of the government services are not required. Government is just a bloat machine today. And tariffs can give government capital it needs to operate while reducing taxes. Maybe not eliminating them but reducing them significantly because tariffs would trigger more manufacturing and employment in the country and therefore a bigger tax base. That is the idea that Trump is floating. And this is the way we used to operate.
@@andredaedone7732 You've been brainwashed the tariffs won't bring manufacturing here. Is it fair that Amazon hasnt paid federal taxes in years? Is it fair tax payers fund oil companies while paying high fuel prices?
