The automobile at the beginning of this video was a Jeep Wrangler 4xe, a hybrid where Stellantis put the lithium battery inside the vehicle compartment. Videos of them blowing up have gone viral for a couple of years now.
With all the news about EV fires, I can't believe people still keep them in a connected garage. The cars and scooters need to have their own separate ordnance buildings with lift up roofs. Also, no one talks about the tens of thousands of Toyota 4 cylinder engines with bad castings that were replaced in 2019 and 2020. That's if sneaking in block sealer didn't patch the problem with coolant seeping through the block. It was automatic replacement if oil seeped through. The bad Tundra engines weren't the first.
The 4xe battery being the floor of the rear oassenger compartment and there being an access port is amazing because in case of thermal runaway the interior turns into a gas chamber.
@@THEpicND Absolutely, especially when a lot of these high mileage newer vehicles are just highway miles. It's a whole different kind of reliability when you talk about cars that are 10-15 years or more older. I wonder if any of these newer vehicles will hold up like the old ones...

It's truly insane that everyone told me not to buy a 2010 Nissan Altima in 2009, and since then I have just watched all of my friends, family and co-workers buy literally every other car under the sun except for Nissan and my Nissan outlasted almost every one of them except for the Hondas! Me and my friend have been going strong with our Japanese cars for so long! We both have over 250,000 mi and they both still feel almost new! No engine no transmission issues between the two of us! But we truly are scared because either this year or next year we're going to get new versions of what we currently have this is kind of disheartening to hear!
I bought my daily driver new 17 years ago, it has never failed to get me from point A to point B. At 150K + miles on it, it still has its original brakes.
I have two vehicles; a 2021 Tundra 1794 Edition with 51k miles and a 2013 Volvo XC60 R-Design with 105k miles. Both bought used and both mostly solid. The Volvo has had a few little annoying things go wrong like back-up camera, 3rd brake light, and air temp gauge that is always wildly wrong. Tundra has been trouble free. I was thinking about trading in the Volvo for a Jeep Wrangler. I've always wanted one and heard the 2024s were a large step forward in design. I couldn't believe all of the 2023 and 2024 Wrangler 4XEs on the lot. Dozens of them with heavy discounts. Of course, an entry-level Wrangler Sport S 2-dr is now in the 40's when they were about ten grand cheaper 3-4 years ago. Crazy how prices have gone up.
EPA and CAFE have permanently warped engineering protocols at car companies. Certainly bean-counter management is another huge problem, but reliability has taken a huge tumble trying to meet the unreasonable fuel economy, and pollution requirements out of the USA federal government and California state requirements. Lighter vehicles get better fuel economy and cheapened vehicles have a higher profit… Until they don’t.
4xe is probably the worst PHEV in the business. Unsmooth, unrefined. Also despite being PHEV, they are not more powerful than regular Toyota hybrid used on TNGA-F especially in all important torque. What a fail. Whole point of a PHEV is to give u more power, torque and response

I have an electric scooter, and I always charge it while I'm home and around to watch it. I also put the charger on a timer, so it cuts off after 60% charge for storage, OR 95% if I know I'm riding tomorrow. Granted, there's still high risk, because thermal runaway can happen within minutes, and even if you catch it, the battery can get blazing hot, and the fumes too much to bear to try and throw the scooter out of the home. There's really no real solution besides being aware that a fire CAN happen, and keeping the risks as low as you can, and just pray.
I would love a good used pre 2020, post 2012, non turbo with a 4, 5, 6 or even 8 speed automatic transmission with 1 maybe 2 owners that Haven't been abused or had multiple accidents and actually changed their oil every 5,000 miles. Takes a lot of time and patience to find them and then they are almost always snapped up within minutes of the new listing. I don't know how many times I searched a site at 10 pm and then see a new listing the next morning at 10 am, and when I call I am told it is already sold or a customer is in the process of getting financing. I did end up getting a 2005 Silverado that runs like new and looks like it too, at an okay price, after being told a customer was working on financing and 5 hours later it fell through. Lucked out. 8 months later no problems and I have done several thousand dollars worth of work with it. The 4.3 engine, at 160,000 miles burns zero oil, is pre direct injection so no carbon or sooty fuel in tailpipe, and it is almost silent so it is much more quiet than my 2023 Camry LE which got progressively louder between 2,000 and 13,000 and would often smell of coolant when I turned it off. The 4 speed transmission shifts smooth and seamless as if it were new. The noise and coolant smell that would occur, though I saw no obvious leaking, along with the build quality potential post 2020 made me decide to get rid of the Camry. I was thinking of getting a new Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid next year, but with Toyota's new found issues with cheaper parts and quality control issues and my experience with my 2023 Camry I think I will wait another 2 years to see if they get back to functional quality over maximizing profits for profit's sake. I want to put 200,000+ miles and 20+ years on a new vehicle and not worry about a garage/house fire because Toyota decided to start skimping in Hybrid quality just because every one else has. Seems like everyone follows trends, and the new car manufacturers are currently trending BADLY.
I agree 100%. It takes a while to find good used cars these days, there are enough people like us that know what to look for so I can't blame them when it sells fast. Those 2005s were awesome, right at the end of a cycle. I still see them every single day in my neighborhood and, just about anywhere. Tons of people using them for work with 300-500k miles. Pre AFM/Pre DI.....was a great time.
They have had 100 years to learn how to make these parts cheaper then ever and yet charge more then they ever have. They know exactly what they are doing, its a fine line between making the parts thin enough to function but not cost too much to make so they can still profit the maximum possible amount on every part, pennies matter.

The only company that can expertly handle battery tech is Tesla…period. Hybrids are the worse of both worlds, unbelievably complicated. Either buy an full ICE or a Tesla.
If you’re unfortunate enough to own either a 2020 to 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe or Jeep Cherokee 4xe - both hybrid electrics - you’re going to want to watch this, unless you enjoy seeing your Jeep (MSRP STARTING AT $50,695) dumpster fire go up in explosion, smoke, and flame, and, if your lucky, take your garage, your house, your pets, and YOU with it! Because of this silly little hazard, Stellantis’ ugliest stepchild - Chrysler/Jeep - has issued a recall of 194,000 of these lumps - the SAME recall, for the SAME vehicles, for the SAME problem - they issued a year ago. Chrysler/Jeep now says “you shouldn’t charge your Jeep” - kinda defeats the whole purpose of “hybrid,” doesn’t it? - and that you should “park it outside” for the “explosion/fire/house/pets/you” difficulties mentioned above. This solution provides many standard Stellantis benefits, not just to you, but to your neighbors as well! A cheery roadside explosion, a fire to keep you and your neighbors warm, while your local firefighters try to contain the fire to one - at MOST four - city block(s), and a chance at FREE DOUGHNUTS! when the Fire Department’s Women’s Auxiliary comes around with their refreshment truck! Uhhh… they STILL have those refreshment trucks, don’t they? Did I mention that Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares makes $US14.5 MILLION per year? Well, he does…

The4 cylinder sound like trash on the hybrids, and the cost is insane. Get a Toyota or a Teal!
I was a big fan of Hyundai Tucson's. I had one for 7 years and raved about it and how great it was. I never had one problem with it.
And then 2 weeks ago it was parked in my driveway and out of nowhere self-combusted.
I'll never buy a Kia or Hyundai again
Welcome to what we've already known for years and tried to tell people. Kia and Hyundai are trash.
@@user-rw7xd7qy3j Hybrid? Sorry not too familiar with Tucsons. Wasn't aware of a hybrid. That's so sad.
@@jb5nf Thanks man. Yeah I was very traumatic. It was not a hybrid. It was a normal turbo Hyundai Tucson. And I've been sitting in my driveway for a couple days and it just blew up. Absolutely crazy.
@@user-rw7xd7qy3j Glad you're okay. I still can't think of how something like that would happen. Maybe a loose fuel connection to the high pressure fuel pump. Just guessing.
@@jb5nf turns out if you Google it there are lots of recalls for this exact issue. Hyundai went so far as to tell people not to park their cars in the garage because of vehicles blowing up. Ironically my engine type was not on the recall. (Although it should have been)
American tech at its best.
Correction. Italian engineering. Stellantis is ITALIAN.
@@IanHausser Americans built, everyone knows American and European cars are garbage. Ford most recalled brand. The Chinese are going to eat your breakfast and cake.
It’s a Jeep thing.
It's pronounced 4 by E. As in 4 by electric death trap.
these companies have debris in their head
It’s not so much about the manufacturers failing, it’s a very volatile battery situation/tech. Get in a wreck, find out.
Mustang Made in Mexico

Good Lord it's hard to believe how shitty these vehicles are
Man this girl dabri is gonna get fired it sounds like
Jeep climate changed itself
do away with the EPA
Yep. EVs are a GREAT idea.
2020 less tech..??? Are you kidding? That spying shit and wayyy too many sensors and crap cars have been produced since very early 2000s. For Chevy it was 2005-2007. After that… 👎🏽
Insurance company's should refuse to insure any EV that's parked indoors. Not just charged indoors, but parked indoors. This guy is nuts, he was charging his POS Jeep inside right under his bedroom.
I wish I could play this video when I have arguments with people who want to go EV green.
Logic isn't there. Plenty of gas cars will combust if made poorly. This is more of a lesson in buying good brands when buying expensive and complex equipment.
Electric cars are dangerous AF.
How about the saltwater fires in Tesla's the last few days. Elon, what's up w that man...We love Elon, please do and say something
Yeah water and batteries don't usually mix well...
I heard about the one after Helene hurricane burn the whole house, devastating.
Fools putting their homes and families at risk adopting EVs just to virtue signal.
So china or mexico who makes the best casting ? now the auto makers will have to relearn their own manufacturing technics. LOL😄
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The only company that can expertly handle battery tech is Tesla…period. Hybrids are the worse of both worlds, unbelievably complicated. Either buy an full ICE or a Tesla.
China has best quality ev. 😂😂😂
It was labeled a woke explosion. Wouldn't happen to my Jeep.
Is every 4xe owner with exploding batteries as gay as mclovin in your video?
Nothing ever positive on this channel, this is just another hate channel.
