GIRL!! ❄️ In South Louisiana here, there was 7” in my yard!!! Needless to say we were grounded!! And YES, in Louisiana like where you are, IT’S COLD, when this craziness happens!! Oh wonderful, I love the clearing and being along with you, it will encourage me!! I’ve been clearing some things both in my home and in my quilting room, where there have been some wonderful upgrades!! It has taken a while, I was persistent! Lol So along with decluttering and giving things to The Purple Cow (goodwill), it feels better and better!! Looking forward to all that is to come!! 🤗

I made a note of the quote, “The potential of a creative boundary.” I intend to share this video and that quote with my group of 7 quilty friends. It (the quote) resonates with me, one does not have to use every color of scrap in a scrappy quilt. One can set boundaries and still create beauty. Thank you Amy.

Thank you Amy, I'm a 67 year old woman from Kansas who is trying to learn to quilt via UA-cam. I have watched this video a million times. I took my tablet to my sewing room and followed step by step. It was not perfect, so I will bring you with me for the next time I try a quilt...lucky you😂

It was interesting to see you wanting more warm colors, more large plaid and going ahead with what you had. The quilt turned out fabulous! I think adding the giraffe fabric was exactly what was needed.

Hello Beautiful! I popped into our guild retreat over the weekend. They forced me to peruse the free table. It’s a very dangerous place for me. I just made some self binding flannel receiving blankets out of “found” fabric.

I so appreciate that you showed the finished quilt top up front. My brain thanks you! Also, I can so relate to keeping those leftover HSTs.

Great Amy! I love scrappy quilts.

Most all of the quilts I make are for Project Linus. Scrap quilts happen to be my favorite, which is a good thing since I use only donated fabrics! 😅Often, I don't know what I'll pair a certain print with... and then along comes one that works perfectly. The best part is knowing that a youngster in need will have a warm quilt to wrap up in and call their own! 💜

This would be great for learning exercise to work with scraps, and limited colors and values. I buy quilt kits and collections - safe zone for matching fabrics.

I love Pat Sloans patterns. And Oh My Stars is a favorite for Project Linus quilts.

Amy Make Pat Sloans Oh my Stars quilt to. It’s quick and fun. I tried to sew the way you demonstrated keeping everything together, but I always turn something around when I am sewing. I also didn’t like it being connected together. But we have to try things to know what we like and don’t like.

I went dumpster diving. 😂😂 I saw a Grandmother's flower garden quilt. Unfinished. And whoever had it used it for a grease rag..under their car!!! I have removed the octogons but not liking the darker colors mixed in. Edges are badly frayed. But I will fix it. Love your quilt. 🥰

When you make a flannel quilt do use batting?

I’ve been putting my blocks together left to right and they get twisted. I think top to bottom will eliminate that. Thank you Amy.

I just love your book story! I am going to try it....I just wonder how long it will take me to learn a new way of sewing my top. Have you been using this technique for awhile? Let me know please...I have learned so much from you keep up the great work!

I love the Oh My Stars pattern, I am making a red, white and blue quilt for my uncle, the stars will be white. and yes the purchased pattern goes up to King size. Thank you for showing how easy it really is and how cool it turns out, no matter the fabric.

Since having “met” you, I am now deep into scraps. My fellow guild members give me their scraps . I go through them and pull out any I can cut 2.5 inch strips or 5 inch squares. Whatever is left over goes into bags I make which become cat beds for our local no kill shelter, and nothing goes to the land fill! Last month I found 8 finished blocks of bright juvenile fabrics. I scrounged thru the rest of the scraps and my stash and was able to construct another block that matched. They became a finished quilt for a child living in a domestic violence shelter. The strips and squares I save also become quilts for kids or for adults at the homeless shelters

At least that’s an easy fix on the edge. Not from a quilting table or thrift store but my dad was going to chuck old tablecloths, napkins, tray cloths and doilies a lot of which have beautiful hand embroidery that were my grannies and gt grannies. They are the most beautiful sea island cotton and Irish linen. He was surprised that I wanted them. He wasn’t even going to donate them as the local thrift stores don’t want them. They were going in the trash!!! Even the plain ones are lovely material. Some I’ll keep and use. I think I’m going to showcase some of them in a quilt although cutting them up will be hard. There are two big tablecloths that are nearly identical which might end up being a pair of curtains in my sewing room!

I like this method. I just started a baby quilt with squares. This was in good time.

Rows are horizontal, columns are vertical. That said, the quilt is beautiful!

think your black and grey quilt is adorable. B & W is supposed to be really good for babies. I've got a pile of flannel in random sizes too. But I didn't understand that webbing system of sewing the rows together. Can you give us a link to show more details please?

Oh, those Farmhouse Flannels are amazing! I bought the first 2 and made a quilt. And in a house filled with quilts, it's our favorite! That pattern has been on my list for a long time. Your version is fabulous! Such fun to watch your process - thank you for taking us along for the ride!
