Thanks so much for saying use the thread that you have. Too many people tell us which threads to use and honestly use what’s comfortable. I agree with you 100% on that.
I like seeing your “Art” quilts based on an artist you admire. I also like your varied ideas on scrap quilts and their execution. Like when you open our eyes to different charitable organizations around us, and places to source resources for quilting and other creative projects. Just keep on doing what you do and being you❤
Love your channel. Like that you skip unboxings, openings, general promotion of "buy more" culture. Your scrappy projects and "use what you have" attitude keeps me watching! Love your art quilting and books & library stuff, and your focus on creativity in general! Keep up just what you are doing!
I’m so glad to hear your hip surgery went well. I love the fact that you are so honest with your opinions on quilting and life. Thank you for the great videos and your beautiful smile.
I like tutorials with scraps. Thank you for saying "use whatever thread you like or have". I once asked at the fabric store about thread and bought a spool. I hated it! So I went back to my All Purpose 100% polyster thread.
I was married at 18 48 years ago. I have always been creative since a pre-teen with sewing clothes, embroidery and crocheting. Now I do quilting, embroidery, knitting and crocheting and colored pencil art as my main interests. Always have a few projects going at the same time. Can't keep my hands idle.
Happy New Year! I would love to see more interpretations of famous painters. You've done a few, but I would love to see more. Really enjoy your channel. Thanks for sharing. ❤👍from Somerset UK
Thank you for saying use what you have, what you like and what you can afford. There are too many quilt snobs that tell us we have to use specific brands which goes against the whole ethos of quilting and that unless the quilt has been sewn on a specific machine with certain brands of thread and fabrics our quilts will be awful, worthless piles of scraps. I donate my useable unwanted fabric to our local green market. The proceeds go back into the local community. The small scraps I donate to the local school for the nursery (kindergarten) kids arts and crafts. As someone who suffers from chronic pain it’s lovely to see the difference in your face now that your pain has gone and the joy you have now you’ve got your life back.
Thank you so much for sharing. Your words mean more than you know. I aosolutely agree about the spirit of quilting. Chronic pain really teaches you to appreciate the good days and sometimes just the good moments of days so I am trying to do just that now that I am free from the hip pain. 😊♥️♥️
Love watching your videos. I have learned so much. Love what you have been doing. Do what works for you. I have been quilting since 2010. Have been sewing since I was a child using a treadle machine. That is what I learned on many moons ago. I have never saved salvages.
Scrap quilt tutorials AND also a couple/few videos on the business side of things. Like, how you schedule your time, how much time organizing, budgeting, designing. A day in the life maybe?
Oh Amy, you made me laugh today. When someone asked about a house tour you immediately responded with “ nooo I’d have to clean” that is my initial response when anyone asks about calling in, thankfully my hubby understands my reaction and if I have to have visitors he helps with the cleaning. Life’s too short for a duster and vacuum. Take care
I also drive my husband crazy with my paper planners! He’s in software and everything is electronic for him. In 2008, I was very ill and spent about 6 weeks in the hospital and 6 months on home healthcare. He took my paper method of managing all of our bills and made it all electronic! He said he couldn’t understand my paper method!😀 Now, he handles all of that cause I don’t understand his electronic method! I’ve loved your Q&A videos! They were so much fun! I love that you said use what you have! Frankly, there are those channels that are machine, fabric and thread…snobs, for lack of a better word. My grandma made beautiful quilts and I know she used what she had! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for all your answers! Very interesting. Your home is your home. If you want to show your studio is one thing, but your home is your families secure place. Too many crazies out there.
Ridwell recycles fabric scraps and threads plus a lot of the stuff most municipal recycling programs don’t take. There is a fee (free or reduced trial period) and they provide the collection bags plus a small bin to leave near your door. They even take light bulbs and alkaline batteries which I appreciated. I only recently started watching your channel (you had 8.9k subscribers) and love the energy you exude. Your content is completely different from others which is wonderful. As much as I enjoy the immediate access to folks when they are live, I’ve realized I have been giving up my own sewing time to watch others sew. That is not continuing into 2025 though I will attend live videos that are Q&A format since I am still learning. Anything you decide to post is okay with me. Thank you for answering everyone’s questions.
Anything you wish to share is greatly appreciated! I'm excited to see such variety and out of the box vlogs that you bring. I'm over unboxings, puzzle mystery quilts, and any other cookie-cutter videos many creators share. Thank you, for being you; purple hair, red lipstick, museums and all ❤
Congrats on your new hip! I had both hips done in 2019 and that’s when I started quilting. I like your videos and personality. Best wishes for the new year!
I'm here for whatever you want to make. I know, I know, content creators want to create content that's wanted, but I'm here (albeit relatively recently) because I already find value in your content. Loved getting to know you better through vlogmas and can't wait to see what 2025 has in store for all of us. Hugs from Melbourne, Australia 🦘
To line up sashing without cornerstones. I measure out the blocks and draw a light pencil line on the back of my fabric to mark. Be sure to factor in you seam allowance with the marks. I do this all the time and works everytime.
Short answer -- More Amy! I have enjoyed all of your videos and I am often surprised by your content and ideas. I really appreciate your focus on community so content on building communities and sharing with others is great.
I am totally in line with your son: there has to be a cat video 😅 Apart from that I really like your interviews and your "how to approach"-videos (I have the feeling that tutorial is the wrong word). Oh, and scap projects are always a winner for me, as well.
Your content and message is uniquely "you" so keep being you and we will be here to watch. Your "out of the box" ideas make you different and different is good. I'm here for inspiration, not to learn specific quilting techniques.
I have loved every video you’ve put out. I made the flying geese blocks last winter. Are they a quilt yet? Nope. 😳. But very close. Keep doing what you’re doing. 🤗 I like tutorials best.
I want to have everything you want to produce. QAL’s, interviews, and you just living your life. Thanks for doing this. Hope you plan on doing something like this again.
I would love to see more sewing vlogs, tutorials, and general tips and tricks, but I enjoy everything you put out, for the most part. Your smile and cheerful demeanor just brightens my day.
Hurray I got married young as well. I have a new project after having Christmas with both our boys and their families today. I am making a supply of cloth gift bags with draw string tops for next year. It’s a great way for me to use up a lot of Holiday fabric.
Agree on using the thread that you have & that works on your machine. Sashing between blocks- put a strip on the left side & bottom of the block except for the last block on the row, then just the bottom. Put outer sashing on sides, top, & bottom (long strips).
Hi Amy! You know I'm grateful for whatever you choose on the channel. Sometimes, it's something I didn't KNOW I needed...like your stress free binding technique! Hanging out with you means that I'll share time with a Kindred Spirit, enjoy some laughs and for sure I'll have new creative ideas swirling in my head. You bring the joy with each video and I can't wait for the surprises in store for 2025!!! Hugs from Canada.
Hi from Australia love your videos have only ever made hand made quilts about 5now have arthritis in my hands and find it difficult so am going to try machine quilting I’m 79 and have bad and good days but still smiling and have been married for 61 years met my wonderful husband when I was 14 at a country dance so congratulations to you and your husband young marriages do last.have a great 2025
Congratulations on 10k. I love that you said “Use what you have” about the thread and batting. That’s what I do in general with my sewing supplies. This was fun and informative to watch. I want to see more art quilts, more creative ideas and more of you being excited about projects.
Thank you for doing the daily Vlogs. So fun and informative. For 2025 - I really like ideas and tutorials you share about scrap or use what you have to make something. I like to save and use “leftovers” from other projects, but struggle sometimes on what I can do with them. So any tips, ideas would be great. Wishing you and your family all the best for the New Year.
I think you should do follower interviews. I would volunteer if you need a Guinea pig. I have always thought it would be fun to see other quilters that follow specific utubers to see what they are working on and what they do with their quilts. I also think it would be fun to see new quilters as they develop their style.
Hi Amy. Love your posts and you. What I would like to see in 2025 are more videos ( I have loved Vlogmas), and I enjoy instructional videos (cut to quilt) and your quilt shop tours . Maybe a few on hand quilting or hand work.
Hello Beautiful! Great “interview”. I’d watch anything you put out there! Kudos on the 10k!!! I knew you were on to something from the very first video. Take a breather and have a Happy New Year!
I would like to see some tutorials. Different techniques and unique tools you use or find. Love your happy cheerful face and that you include us in your day!
I love your vlogs. It feels like a friend coming to visit and talking about all the wonderful things you've been doing. It helps to keep me motivated and wanting to talk about what I've accomplished. I am so happy to see you have 10k subscribers now. You've earned it. You're fresh air, upbeat and generous with your information. I like the attitude of using what you have and/or enjoy. It makes what you do interesting and fun. I'm looking forward to your next field trip, also.
I want to continue a friendship. It totally amazes me how similar we are in what we like and dislike. You just say it with a big smile exude positivity and that is something I want to encompass in my friendship circle. I would love to have a challenge (or several) in 2025 with accountability. I’m so glad you join d the declutter challenge. I’ve already started on mine because I’m rearranging my sewing room but my hot spot is scrap management. Any tips and strategies are most welcome!!!
You are so kind! Thank you. I am trying to devise a challenge now. I really want to create a challenge that everyone can participate in according to their taste and time etc. I’m thinking March- I am looking forward to the declutter challenge with you.
What I want to see from this channel in 2025: Whatever puts the sparkle in your eyes, gives you energy, gets you excited and keeps you engaged. The best videos are always made by authentic people exploring and sharing what they love. May this New Year be the best yet.
I do enjoy your interviews and the content you have, so continuing the interviews would be of interest to me. I’m hoping to find someone to walk through the process of doing a legit kit over the next year. I’m not sure that’s your thing, though. Happy New Year Amy!
Thank you for the feedback and the Happy New Year wishes! I’m so glad you like the interviews! 😊. Legit kits is NOT my jam but Donna at Handmade By Ying is a Whiz at them and has many videos showing her work.
I have seen some tote bags, a jacket, and a pillow cover that were made out of salvages. However, I have never done anything with them in piecing. I have used the salvages in the center back seams in dresses (to make a neat, less bulky, finish where the zipper is installed in a dress). I have also used the salvage edge on the inside of the waistband in skirts and pants. I was taught, "It's a poor seamstress that uses the salvages." The reason we don't want to use the salvages is because, "If the fabric is going to shrink in the wash, it will usually do it on the salvages." Wash your fabric before making a garment from it.
Did you know that wool does not have a memory? The wool batting is wonderful to use for wall hangings that you fold up and put away for Christmas. You can pull it out the next year and it won't have the crease of folding it and putting it away.
I really have enjoyed this years vlogmas, thank you. I would love to know how you figure out what to do with your scraps. I have a box full, I just don’t know what to do with them.
Here in Sugar Land, TX, our trash pick-up has a fabric/textile pick up if you call to schedule a pickup. I use a large JoAnn bag to fill with all my fabric scraps & thread ends. I keep them busy.
Amy, bless you for saying use what you like etc. I don’t like when people make other people feel bad about their tools. I do use Aurifil thread but I don’t think everyone has to! My friend was at a guild sew day. Another member saw her machine and said “oh you have a Brother” How rude was that?!
😳. That’s so awful! I hope it didn’t spoil her day. I love that we are all work with different machines and materials and the more the merrier. Thank you so much for your kind words.
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉 YOU did it 10,000. 70 acres UA-cam channel is in Ash county which was deeply affected by the hurricane. Location found with her public info. I hope she's safe, prayers for our fellow creator 🙏
I "strongly dislike" piecing backing and batting too! I don't like the look of the "after quilt" as one quilter calls it. Thank You for answering all of our questions! I'm looking forward to your posts next year. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Scraps please. My sister and I quilt and we have said for 2025 we have to use our scraps for a quilt before we can buy any fabric for a quilt. So it’s one scrap quilt then we can buy fabric for a quilt then back to a scraps for a quilt.
Some Project Linus chapters will take quilt tops if they have volunteers, with longarm machines usually, who are willing to finish them. Please check with local coordinators before donating. 😊
Thanks so much for saying use the thread that you have. Too many people tell us which threads to use and honestly use what’s comfortable. I agree with you 100% on that.
I am so glad you liked that part! Thanks so much. We often make things too complicated.
I like seeing your “Art” quilts based on an artist you admire. I also like your varied ideas on scrap quilts and their execution. Like when you open our eyes to different charitable organizations around us, and places to source resources for quilting and other creative projects. Just keep on doing what you do and being you❤

Oh my goodness, I want to see that 1-in finished quilt! You go girl!
You and me both! Thanks 😊

I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😄. Thanks so much.

I would just like to see you continue with your Make It Work attitude, I have sincerely enjoyed your channel. Thank you Amy.
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you for watching!
Hurray I got married young as well. I have a new project after having Christmas with both our boys and their families today. I am making a supply of cloth gift bags with draw string tops for next year. It’s a great way for me to use up a lot of Holiday fabric.
That is going to be so great! 🎉
This is on my list of things to do this year as well! And I also married young - at 18. We will celebrate 40 years in April.
Christmas drawstring bags are great for presents. I made them in all sizes from small to extra large. They are still used after 11 years.
Agree on using the thread that you have & that works on your machine. Sashing between blocks- put a strip on the left side & bottom of the block except for the last block on the row, then just the bottom. Put outer sashing on sides, top, & bottom (long strips).
Great tip for washing. Thank you!
@@amydement. I meant the right side of the block not the left. Sheesh, I should watch more carefully when I type. LOLOL
😜
That means so much to me! 😊. Thank you Lori.
Hi from Australia love your videos have only ever made hand made quilts about 5now have arthritis in my hands and find it difficult so am going to try machine quilting I’m 79 and have bad and good days but still smiling and have been married for 61 years met my wonderful husband when I was 14 at a country dance so congratulations to you and your husband young marriages do last.have a great 2025
That is so inspiring! I’m sending good vibes your way! 😊 I hope the machine quilting brings you joy.
I would love to see more tutorials. Small quilts. Quick wins.
Thank you. Great ideas!
Congratulations on 10k. I love that you said “Use what you have” about the thread and batting. That’s what I do in general with my sewing supplies. This was fun and informative to watch. I want to see more art quilts, more creative ideas and more of you being excited about projects.
I’m so glad you liked it! 😊. Thanks for the feedback, I’m going to try to give you more of what you want.
I appreciate the feedback! Thank you! I love your ideas.
I think you should do follower interviews. I would volunteer if you need a Guinea pig.

Thank you! And that’s awesome feedback. I appreciate you!
I enjoy videos telling how you chose fabrics or pattern.....I enjoy hearing about your thought process.
I love talking about the process too! Thank you for the feedback.
Hello Beautiful! Great “interview”. I’d watch anything you put out there! Kudos on the 10k!!! I knew you were on to something from the very first video. Take a breather and have a Happy New Year!
You are so kind! Happy New Year to you too! 😄
I enjoy all your videos but as a newbie to quilting I'd like tutorials. Happy New Year to you and your family.
I’m so glad you’re here! Thank you for the feedback.
Again so fun to hear your answers. Love your premise of use what you have.
I appreciate you saying that! 😄
I would like to see some tutorials. Different techniques and unique tools you use or find. Love your happy cheerful face and that you include us in your day!
Thank you so much. Products reviews have been on my radar for a bit now.
I have been sending quilt tops to Quilts beyond Borders for years! Great organization
That's awesome! They do such good work.
That means so much to me! Thank you for your kind words.
Beth, I couldn’t have said it better. I feel the same way. FranSak
Thank you
I would love to see a monthly tutorial making different patterns of scrap quilts ❤
Kinda showcasing what varied results scraps can give you
Great idea! Thank you!!!
I want to continue a friendship. It totally amazes me how similar we are in what we like and dislike. You just say it with a big smile exude positivity and that is something I want to encompass in my friendship circle. I would love to have a challenge (or several) in 2025 with accountability. Yay! You hit the 10K mark!!!! I am so happy for you Amy!
Thank you so much! It means a lot! 😊
These two days were fabulous and fun! Future: 1. Blogging 2. Interviews. 3. Local Interviews (Do Central Texas Quilting) 4. Scrappy Tutorials
Thank you so much! Those are great ideas! 😊
What I want to see from this channel in 2025: Whatever puts the sparkle in your eyes, gives you energy, gets you excited and keeps you engaged. The best videos are always made by authentic people exploring and sharing what they love. May this New Year be the best yet.
That is so thoughtful! Thank you so much. 😊
@ I’ll check out Donna’s videos. Thanks!

I agree - I always pre washed garment fabrics so I don’t understand that argument either 😜♥️
Did you know that wool does not have a memory? The wool batting is wonderful to use for wall hangings that you fold up and put away for Christmas. You can pull it out the next year and it won't have the crease of folding it and putting it away.
That is true!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! 😊
I made a memory quilt in the saw tooth star pattern. I think it is the prettiest one I have ever made.
Great feedback. Thank you!
Thanks for saying it's ok to throw away scraps of fabric.
You're very welcome! 😊. Sometimes thing just need to GO!
I really have enjoyed this years vlogmas, thank you. I would love to know how you figure out what to do with your scraps. I have a box full, I just don’t know what to do with them.
I'm so glad you enjoyed Vlogmas! Scraps are my main focus for 2025
As long as I can see your beautiful smile it really doesn’t matter. I enjoy all of your content.
You are so kind! Thank you!
Here in Sugar Land, TX, our trash pick-up has a fabric/textile pick up if you call to schedule a pickup. I use a large JoAnn bag to fill with all my fabric scraps & thread ends. I keep them busy.
That is so helpful! I need to look into that! 😄
Amy 10k so pleased for you. Thanks for the answers and the vlogs ❤❤
Thank you so much!! 😊.
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉 YOU did it 10,000. 70 acres UA-cam channel is in Ash county which was deeply affected by the hurricane. Location found with her public info. I hope she's safe, prayers for our fellow creator 🙏
Oh that’s right!! Thank you for that information! I too hope all is well or on the upside of recovery.
I "strongly dislike" piecing backing and batting too! I don't like the look of the "after quilt" as one quilter calls it.
Thank You for answering all of our questions! I'm looking forward to your posts next year. Happy New Year to you and your family.
I feel you! Happy New Year to you and your family too!🎉
I'm new here and I love your channel, Amy! Started watching with Vlogmas. Thank you for doing vlogmas.
I am so glad you're here! 😊. Thank you!
congrats on 10 k
Thank you so much! 🎉
Hi Amy. You did it. 10K. Congrats!1
I’m so excited!!! 🥳🥳🥳. Thank you!
Hi Amy and Casey. 😊
Hi friend!
Karen Brown at Just Make It Quilts has a great video on batting for the question about batting.
Thank you!
Scraps please. My sister and I quilt and we have said for 2025 we have to use our scraps for a quilt before we can buy any fabric for a quilt. So it’s one scrap quilt then we can buy fabric for a quilt then back to a scraps for a quilt.
That’s a cool bargain and you’ve got a built in accountability partner. Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Some Project Linus chapters will take quilt tops if they have volunteers, with longarm machines usually, who are willing to finish them. Please check with local coordinators before donating. 😊
Thank you so much for the helpful information! 😊
Tutorials on quilting. Basics.
Thank you!

♥️♥️♥️
I like tutorials and vlogging…..not as keen on the interviews!
Thank you for the feedback! 😊
