Misplacing fabrics is why I started a daily sewing log. I include where I put stuff so when I forget later, I have a place to check. A friend who also suffers memory issues suggested it.
Love the lost/found unfinished/finished quilt top, and I see where the quilt slider unit got its talents from, lol Quilting/Crafting bucket list item: a more ergonomic crafting space that is dedicated to crafting. Have a lovely weekend.
Bucket list item, huh ? Well, a proper studio space with room for a long-arm, and the long arm, too! Actually, a warehouse where I could have all my crafts and room for a large table or comfy couches and chairs where my friends could gather, would be ideal! And more storage space!
Oh boy! Happy Hour! I missed answering a favorite part of quilting yesterday. The challenge. Choosing fabrics. Going thru my stash and finding fabric that works better than something else. Handing in completed quilt tops to the quilt guild to be finished by someone else. A main one this year, is getting better at machine binding. Back to front. Have fun , Amy! Marion
My bucket list item is a sewing room big enough for my long arm! And a trip to Hamilton, MO! My favorite Christmas movie is Miracle on 34th Street. I don't remember seeing anyone mentioning that one😊
If I can't find something fairly quickly, I usually stop looking for it because it's sure to show up when looking for something else or just general cleaning!
14:38 Lost Fabrics are a joy when found. I have a pansy print that went missing in June 2023 then I moved in July. So, I found it in a box of old clothing I was saving to make scrapy organization this past September 2024. My dream is to go on a quilting retreat. However I have health issues and never know when I will have to go to the ER/Hospital. Travel is very limited. On the other hand I'd like to get some Handi Quilt rulers for FMQ. 🎶💐💖🫂 From Albq., NM
Oh honey, you are not alone !!😂 . I'm glad you found it. I would be running through the house waving my treasure , announcing " I'm not CRAZY" to my family who really aren't sure about that. You took your victory so gracefully 😊. I LOVE those blocks you sewed in the meantime, that is really cool. My dream is to be better organized, but I guess that's no surprise is it.😂😂
Your are so brave to do all of those thread colors. I typically use a rainbow variegated thread and call it a day, LOL:) Additionally, I have a whole closet full of flimsies (also out of the way of the doggies to prevent dust, etc.), so embarrassing. I like piecing more than quilting (even though I have a longarm) so they just accumulate. Someday I will get them all done....
Gotta love it when things hide in plain sight 😅. Dream item is having space for a design wall! The dog has taken to napping on the bed in the guest room and I have always used that bed to lay out quilt blocks.
I love that dream. I have a huge insulated foam board just waiting for a wall to magically appear. I was going to put it in the garage but my new, scaled down abode doesn't have a garage and only one bed room.
I have a friend who used to be a Stampin Up demonstrator. I was watching one of her videos, and she “lost her scissors in plain sight.” They were right thee in front of her and she couldn’t see them! She said “I’ll bet y’all are out there yelling at me, ‘there are RIGHT THERE!!” And I was.
AMA Amy, have you considered teaching an online class? Maybe about color, or inspiration for scrap quilts? There are so many things we could learn from you.
That's a very pretty hour glass quilt top. I'm looking forward to two weeks of not being on call. Christmas vacation at home. I can plan my days and get to finish something.
My bucket list is to make a Michelle Yeo Medallion quilt with broderie perse, make a Japanese style quilt with houses & life scenes, like the prize-winning ones at the International quilt festival, & go to England for their big quilt shows & of course, Liberty fabrics.
Everything I use has to first pass the floor test, e it all ends up there at some point.😂 my wish list is a long arm quilter and room to put it in. Ooh how I love dreaming. Good blog x❤
I would love to go to a quilting retreat...perhaps by the ocean. But I am disabled with a lot of allergies and the thought of figuring out what I would eat and such for even a few days away from my normal haunts feels too overwhelming
I understand. That is a lot to think about. But I hope you can make it happen for yourself. Many retreats are bring/cook your own food so maybe that is a possibility.
It can be so frustrating losing something, but at least you forged ahead and found it after all. At least you're not alone. My quilting dream is two parts: a professional organizer so I'd have a fighting chance to find what I'm looking for and a mobile longarm technician to get my machine working the way it should with no drama. The 2nd wish is the most important.
On my bucket list is wishful thinking. I would love to be able to see what I am stitching on my long arm,”macular degeneration”. What I do is memory and I have to wait until I’m done to see what I did. I refuse to quit, quilts aren’t as finished as before but finished. Not feeling sorry, feeling grateful I can still see to piece kinda and quilt. Love everything about your videos and inspiration, thank you so so much 😮
I want my guest room turned into a sewing room and my current room (also the laundry room) made into a room with built in shelves and closets. Then I want a true sewing table for my machines so my shoulders aren't hiked up around my ears while I'm trying to learn to use a ruler foot. But we still need the guest room. Mostly I wish my long-arm person wasn't 6 hours away. She's my daughter and best friend.❤💜
I’m glad you found it. It’s so frustrating when something gets misplaced. I’m usually not too bad at remembering where I put sewing stuff. My husband is good at tidying up and moving things then denying he’s touched it. I love the colours in the quilt you sewed today. It’s beautiful and bright. I have 3 and any one of them would be amazing. I’d love a long arm but I have two subluxated ribs so I’d need an automated one and that’s a lottery win purchase. I’d really love to go on a quilt retreat. They aren’t really a thing here but I hear friends from across the pond talking about them and I’d really love to go on one. Realistically that’s another lottery win. I’d also love to go to quilt con maybe when I win the lottery I can go on a quilt retreat then go to quilt con and buy my automated long arm there! 😂🤣😂
Your husband moving things is cracking me up. We often say in our family “don’t be helpful be harmless”. I’m with you on that lottery front. Wouldn’t that be amazing!
I really enjoy your videos and look forward to watching them every day this December. Thank you for being your beautiful, honest and open self! My sewing dream is a BabyLock Sashiko 2 machine. I took the Sashiko daily practice series on Creative bug with Lisa Solomon and have been obsessed with anything Sashiko ever since.
I ve misplaced patterns before. It’s very frustrating. On my bucket list would be more time. I would like to devote more time to practice free motion quilting on my longarm. I don’t have robotics on my machine. I also would like more time to use my embroidery machine. I have all these things I want to do. I need more time. My ask you anything is when you have limited time what part of quilting do you choose? Example sorting fabric, designing a quilt, cutting fabric, piecing blocks quilting the quilt or binding. My favorite part is making the blocks. I like making the individual blocks the most. Making backing for the quilt is my least favorite thing.
Really really cute quilt at the end there. My quilting bucket list item is to make friends that quilt where I live so I can have some friends that are interested in what I am interested in.
Lol I have a Will Farrell hang up too Amy! I cant stand him or the movie Elf! my quilters dream list is to finish everything that I started. I have approximately 52 Quilts that need quilted and about 37 UFOs that need finished. Some are small like table runners and a couple of wall hangings. Those I should be able to finish quick. I love the quilt top that you put together.
I taught my little papillon to come running when I yelled cleanup aisle five. She was my little helper. I should have trained her to find missing fabric and yarn. Fun episode Amy. My dream would be for my sewing studio to be magically organized.

I have approximately 1/3 of the lower level (basement)🙃 had someone come in when I first started but she was not a seamstress nor quilter, and it really was not helpful with anything I could’ve done myself. I need to see if I can find somebody who can show me to use the space properly. That’s what I wish and dream. Thank you God bless.
Automated longarm ..... but it wouldn't fit in my house currently. Imma gonna need a family member to move out first - if i start saving my coins, they might happen at the same time in 2045 😂😂
AMA - is your studio in your home or in a different building? Do you have employees? How many children do you have? Where in Georgia are you from? My mom's family is from Gainesville.
I was hoping Santa would bring a digitized longarm this year and plans were moving forward to make it happen. Unfortunately, I tripped or fell over on of our 6 dogs on Tuesday night. I didn’t go to the ER until Wednesday morning. Today, an MRI confirmed that I crushed my L1 vertebrae and fractured my L5. I’m waiting to hear from the spinal surgeon. There’s definitely a procedure/surgery in my near future! I guess it’s one way to slow down!
Hello Beautiful! I’ve been enjoying these videos showing your day in “real” time as opposed to just sitting in front of the camera. I spent my day at the longarm with a good bit of frustration. I’ve only had it for a couple of years and I don’t love doing it. My dream would be to sell it and pay someone else to do it for me.
I want a long arm machine in the worst possible way but the price stands in the way of me getting it. I really don’t have an interest in doing it as a business so purchasing that expensive of an item without using it to generate revenue makes me cringe.
That wasn't a sneeze….my daughter can SNEEZE. I think one time at a stop light the car actually scooted backwards. And I warned her no sneezing on airplanes-the masks will drop from a change in air pressure.
ok i do not like will farrell. at all. BUT i had a lot of fun watchin elf. break down and just go for it. go into it not thinkin its will farrell. its just a funny movie u want to enjoy.
Misplacing fabrics is why I started a daily sewing log. I include where I put stuff so when I forget later, I have a place to check. A friend who also suffers memory issues suggested it.

@@krisvanallen Great idea.
I need one of those garment cover hangy thingies. I have as many “to quilt” as you do, and right how they are just hanging in a closet.
It’s come in really handy. I don’t have a convenient closet so this works.
finishing the quilts i already started would be a blessing but they all have problems to figure out so i tend to start new things
I resemble that remark 😂♥️

It happens! A longarm is a great dream.

Ha! I'm all for moving people out to make space for quilting machines. Nah not really. But I do understand!
I can find fabric in front of my eyes. Ditto my glasses.

AMA - is your studio in your home or in a different building?
Do you have employees?
How many children do you have?
Where in Georgia are you from? My mom's family is from Gainesville.
♥️
AMA? House tour along with studio tour please?
♥️
Sew pretty 😊
Thank you! 😊
Ouch sending healing thoughts your way.
Oh no!!! I hope all is on the mend soon!
@@jeandryja6992 thank you! I really appreciate that!🥰
@@amydement. thank you, I’m hoping!🥰
Thank you. I totally understand the frustration with the longarm. Sometimes it’s such a challenge.

I'd like to have a newer machine with a bigger harp!
Great dream!
PS My daughter (the one with the long-arm) also has an issue with Will Farrell.
See. I’m not alone!

TA-DA!!! Seek and seek and seek and ye shall find....HA
😂♥️♥️♥️
My quilty dream is to have my own long arm so I could do everything myself.
♥️♥️♥️
I have help keeping me on track . My son likes hanging out with me. He is autistic
That’s such a wonderful help to have 😊
I want a long arm machine in the worst possible way but the price stands in the way of me getting it. I really don’t have an interest in doing it as a business so purchasing that expensive of an item without using it to generate revenue makes me cringe.
They are quite the investment.

That wasn't a sneeze….my daughter can SNEEZE. I think one time at a stop light the car actually scooted backwards. And I warned her no sneezing on airplanes-the masks will drop from a change in air pressure.
