“I just want to walk in the door and smile”. It’s exactly how I feel when I walk into our little village quilt shop. It feels like a hug, a counselling session, a learning experience, a quilters exchange. I just love it. ❤😊
As a new quilter I'm so grateful for the quilt shop that is less than 5 minutes away from my house. I can't say enough about how helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly everyone is there.
I am just green with envy at that lovely quilt shop being 5 minutes from your home. Plus US prices for fabric.! Here in France my nearest quilt shop is an hour and half away and is nowhere near the size of Dean and Diana’s store. Fabric is in the region of 18$ a metre 39 inches. This means online shopping . That then incurs shipping and officially we can buy up to 120 euros without paying customs charges. This seems to vary on the mood of the officers on the day. Our post person then has to collect the customs charges from us at a further cost. So I wait until I go back to UK and bring back a lot. Brexit certainly put up shipping. Then the shippers decided it would be good to add a surcharge for the extra paperwork. So ladies enjoy your Patchwork and quilting stores for us both.👏👏🙏🏻
I love finding the door unlocked and open for business at a Quilt Shop (when I get there). We have four Quilt Shops here. We can't count on most of them being open on their posted hours of business. Some of them I will never go back to. The only gift I remember being given by my former husband was a cheap set of stainless steel pots and pans. Anything else would have cut back on his beer drinking and smoking. He didn't think anything of gifting items I bought for myself (with my own pay check) to members of his family (without asking me at all). She's a lucky lady.
I wish you had a shop with caring passionate owners like these and I hope you take it with all the love intended - I’m glad he’s a FORMER husband! Wishing you only the very best today and everyday!
I loved this. Reminds me of when you so hesitantly went into podcasting. And look at you now! Merry Christmas to you, your family and the sliding display system. You help us all to grow. I like fabrics to be displayed in a way that grabs me, and lots of finished quilts in a quilt shop.
My favorite thing is to look at new batik fabrics. My friend sent me 5 boxes of them. She had been given a car load from a lady who couldn’t quilt any more. Win-Win.
I've appreciated these interviews you're shared during Vlogmas. I can tell your local shop is "the place to be." Merry Christmas to you all! My favorite part about this and all quilt shops is the friendships that can be formed just by walking in the door.
It's Christmas morning here in Melbourne! I just told my husband this story and his response was "Well, it's a good thing you don't have a long arm machine so I don't make the same mistake"!! He has come home driving a new car I knew nothing about before, plus that time he bought me a dog with no notice, so it is actually for the best!!
Friendliness is top of the list variety of fabrics available and great samples. nice and bright so can see fabrics well. Merry Christmas to you have loved these interviews and all your videos
Great episode Amy! I appreciate your enthusiastic spirit every time I watch, you are a breath of fresh quilting inspiration! -Lorena in Northern Illinois
I love to see all the quilts on display. I really get inspired to buy the pattern to use with my fabric stash and maybe buy a few more fabrics that I just love but don't really need!
My favorite thing to see at our local quilting shop is all the quilts local quilters have made and allowed to be displayed. 😊 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! ❤
Wow! How awesome is that?!!! Hi honey I’m home. Oh, and by the way you own a quilt shop lol My favorite thing is the pre-cuts some local Quilt shops don’t have many. I’m all about the simplicity of things. Which is why I like scraps. They’re small.
I lived in Anderson Mill twice, but moved away 30 years ago so I never got to visit this store. I learned to quilt 34 years while living in Austin and I used to belong to AAQG. The best quilt guild I have ever belonged to.
There are no quilt shops where I live, but I love to visit quilt shops when I travel, so far I’ve been to quilts shops in Japan, China, Switzerland, Netherlands, France & Australia. Maybe one day I’ll get to visit a quilt store in USA. Whenever I go to Japan I take an empty suitcase to bring fabric home😊
What a neat shop. It's wonderful to see people happy in their life choices. If I ever get to Austin, I'd love to see the shop. We don't have any shops that have rentals.
Enjoyed watching this video. I had never heard the terms "handi quilter and pro quilter" so I looked those terms up after the video and now I know the difference. I would like a pro quilter; but, I have NO SPACE for one even if I had the money. I just love looking at all the fabric when I go to a quilt store. I wish that clothing patterns were written as good as they used to be written when I was young so I could make some of my own clothing again. I used to buy fabric knowing what I would make with it; but, now I just buy fabric because I think it is pretty and never knowing how or when I will use it.
And I thought I was impulsive at the quilt shop! My favorite thing is the fabrics - colors, shapes and patterns all inspire me. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you for including us in your Christmas journey.
Hello Beautiful! So you’ve learned the art of bait and switch. I thought YOU had bought a quilt shop!Lol 😂 I wish there was a handicap-quilter shop near me for support. I am in Bernina country. And I am not a Bernina girl. Great video.
You are BAD! I got all excited thinking you had bought a quilt shop. 😂 My husband bought his business in a similar spur of the moment way! He at least worked within that trade and knew the people he bought it from.

♥️♥️♥️ It really is a special place! I’m glad you have a lovely space as well.
As a new quilter I'm so grateful for the quilt shop that is less than 5 minutes away from my house. I can't say enough about how helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly everyone is there.
I am so glad you have a great shop nearby! That is awesome!
Agree. I lost my my local one 1 week ago
I love your spontaneity in jumping in retail, and I wish you the best in your endeavors!

Oh Brexit - what a mess socioeconomically. I truly feel lucky to have such a resource so close at hand.

He’s so funny! Thanks for making me laugh.
😂❤ Great story!
What a sweet couple. Love the quilt behind them.

What is the quilt pattern behind d them? I can see that it's made with batik. How beautiful!
It’s a lone star of some variety. I’ll try and find out
@@amydement. It is a Quiltsmart pattern Lone Star. It comes in two sizes and this is the large size.
Thank you!!
Love lower shelves in front of store inviting to come in and see more without getting overwhelmed. Great interview and tour!

They are truly a delight, aren't they? 😊♥️

I like simplicity. While owning a quilt shop would be an adventure it’s my friend Dean and Diana who bought on a ‘whim’. 😊♥️♥️

They’re really always thinking about the customer and how they can serve them. It’s really awesome.
Merry Christmas Amy and your family 😊
Same to you!
A classroom, where all can exchange tips, share failures ans what we learned from them and best of all new patterns!
That sounds wonderful!!!
What a wonderful story! I would love to have that store 5 minutes from my home!!! It looks fabulous!❤
It is such a dream, isn't it? 🥰
