I was just going through StoryBlock's agreement for contributers (I'm just interested in uploading audio/music, fyi) and came across this & I don't think I'll be joining. The way I read this, they can take your stuff, tell you it's no good and go ahead and make money off of it (via AI learning models that produce derivatives from your work!) without compensating you and without you having any further claim to it. Or am I interpreting this wrong?? Read the (ii) section! Basically what happened to you was: they took your stuff, told you to f off and will be using it in their AI-generated revenues... DO READ AGREEMENTS people! Don't go by your feelings, go by small print... "Subject to the exceptions set forth below, you hereby grant to us and our affiliates, agents, assigns, transferees and licensees: an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty free (subject to payment of the Revenue Share set forth in Schedule 2 below), right and license (with the right to sublicense) (i) to market, distribute, modify, copy, display, make compilations, synchronize, publicly perform, sell or otherwise use the Content (and associated metadata), to provide to Members (and potential Members) for download through the Member Library (hereinafter, “Member Library Uses”), and THIS PART _>> (ii) include your Content (including any Content that you uploaded to the Platform but which we may have rejected from inclusion, or otherwise removed from the Member Library for quality reasons), along with other content, in one or more datasets (each a “Dataset”) that may be used by Storyblocks, either alone or with other Datasets..." <<_ WHAT THE ACTUAL F ??

Game theory says that no one or almost no one will give up some earning to receive NO Earnings, so shutterstock wins. The only way this can actually work is if contributors have bargaining power and since millions of people can't be united into a bargaining unit, shutterstock wins. The only thing that might work is a class action suit because shutterstock used contributor images to train their AI without remuneration or ability to opt out. This is recent. Class action law suit.

I don't know why you guys are bothering with still photography--it pays pennies. Video takes the same amount of time to add metadata and it pays $$.

Stop contributing photography. Only contribute video. Even under the new earnings structure, my Shutterstock video $$ earnings have drastically improved since I've grown my video portfolio to 400 clips.

Get to the point and stop talking sooo much!!

My question is when anyone signs up with stock agencies like for eg Shutter stock , adobe etc they ask for money instantly for their services or are they free after they accept you as a contributor. are all stock agencies going to charge me money with very little payout for my photos.

Will putting photos at pixabay make money?

I had 33 photos from about 90 accepted by shutterstock. I did all my photos with a fujifilm finepix AV200. I also sold 1photo. I have been a contributer with shutterstock for about 2 months. I have to say that I am a complete beginner in photography and am learning as I go

I disengaged after approx 30 seconds after listening to demands and boasting... not ideal for beginners to listen to. I'm not a UA-cam myself but would suggest not asking for subs/likes at the start, most people will like/follow if they want, also get into relevant content straight away.... otherwise it just becomes another talking head vid... just saying !

Thanks for your videos, I am convinced now not to waste too much time on this.

Great tips. Do they trim the videos and do the colour correction for u in Blackbox? I have hundreds of travel videos that i will never be able to trim and prepare, i dont have time :(

I find my photos worth much more than what these stock agencies offer. Is it really worth the time it takes to upload, key words , photographing for pennies on the dollar? Who’s making more money off of your photos? And now that shutterstock is starting you from square one at the beginning of each new year?
