    How did this last month look for you guys? Have you noticed a spike or a drop as we're entering into the holiday season?

    dont quit alamy though just keep uploading and be patient. sales are scares but a immage sometimes sells for 130 dollars or more. it took me almost a year to get my first sale for 64 dolalrs there. by now i sold 4 or 5 images there. you get 40% of that but its just a nice extra every year.

      That's so great to hear Charlotte's Playground! We decided to stop posting to Alamy, not only because of lack in sales, but also the amount of time it was taking us in the submission process. We were having to review every image individually to make the images stand out in search (selecting highlighted keywords, categorizing, etc). Is there a faster way to streamline this process?

      @@jdandkylestock3482 lol just dont do that xD its not worth the time and effort i think. you just upload them and they will be on average discovery i believe. im not sure if you get a lot more sales by tagging etc. just put in about 50keywords in the meta data of your image

    • @jdandkylestock3482
      @jdandkylestock3482  4 роки тому +1

      Nice! So you don't bother spending the additional time to make them more discoverable? Interesting.... Yeah that would save us a ton of time! I just didn't know if it was worth it to upload to Alamy without making images more discoverable in search....

      @@jdandkylestock3482 i dont know if it would give a lot of more sales if you do your just slightly increases the chances i gues. how ever i get a sale every now and then and most of the times they are high value sales

      @@jdandkylestock3482 Yea, they don't have to be green and fully discoverable. If you've gotten about 30 tags and a detailed description, that should be enough to show up in searches.

    I submitted videos to Dreamstime for a few months, and just had my first sale the other day - but it was only for $3. I don't think I'll upload videos there anymore because if that's the rate they go for it undercuts what I could get for them on the other agencies by way too much. I'd suggest not giving up on Alamy yet though, since it's not a microstock agency it doesn't work like the others and sales are much rarer but for more. It took me 7 months of submitting regularly to get my first sales, and the 2 I've now had on there are more than I've made from Bigstock and Dreamstime combined. Maybe think of it as a small pension pot that you forget about while still contributing to!

    • @jdandkylestock3482
      @jdandkylestock3482  4 роки тому

      That's awesome to hear Maddie! It's good to hear that the sales will start coming in eventually! How is your submission process with them? We realized that we were spending way too much time with Alamy in the actual submission process. Like EACH image we submitted required an additional 2-3 minutes per images to select the targeted keywords, categories, and all the other info they wanted to make them more "searchable". Vs all the other sites we submit to, we can make our category selections in bulk and submit in bulk. It only takes us about a minute to submit 10 images in a set, vs Alamy would take us about 20-30 minutes to submit the same set. Or are we doing it the wrong way? Is there a way to mass submit/ make images searchable within Alamy?

    • @alexgimagery
      @alexgimagery 4 роки тому +1

      @@jdandkylestock3482 You can totally edit multiple images at the same time in Alamy, like adding shared tags and categories. What I like about their process is that you don't have to do all that during the submission phase, only after the batch has been approved.
      I have only about 180 photos in about 9 months of being on Alamy (lazy on my part), and I have one sale for about $5.

    • @maddiem5921

    Please consider one thing about isock- the commission you get is determined by the selling price of the image or video...they offer their buy clients large discounts for buying x number of images in an image pack, you get less for the same image if the buyer has a 2,000/3,000/5,000 image package than a person with a 100 image package, this goes for videos too. There is also a a feature where they have sold usage for internet only at a considerable discount , hence a .01/.02/.03 commission, again same image...
    I am not bad mouthing them, I have a portfolio there myself, just be aware of this when you sell the same image or video and receive wildly different prices for them.

    One of the few ways for a photographer/videographer to create residual income. Thanks for the info. ROI is important. If I don't get a decent enough ROI doing stock images/video, I'm going with a different method. Seems like a lot of time and effort for not much money.

It's been really important to us to find ways to enjoy it so it doesn't feel like work, as well as find ways to minimize the number of hours/ time we spend working on. Check out Wirestock if you haven't already (they do keywording for you!) Such a time saver. bit.ly/wirestock-learn-more

    Alamy is an editorial vehicle, so think that way if you post there, the current thinking for stock is one sale per thousand per month with a spread mean of 30 to 40 dollars, book covers are very doable sellers that net high prices and anyone can make a sale over a hundred dollars, stock takes time and needs quantity and while its a failing vehicle for people who had past riches from it there is still life in it with modest returns and kudos from uses that make any portfolio impressive that allow if not enable high revenue commissions with the ability for access to places based on tear sheets

    For video, what are your thoughts on the Pond5 Exclusive program?

    • @jdandkylestock3482
      @jdandkylestock3482  4 роки тому +2

      Oooh we hadn't looked much into it yet! We've only just heard about it recently. Right now we've made about the same amount of $ from video on Pond 5 and Adobe Stock. Not a ton from Shutterstock just yet. And we're in the process of uploading to istock now..... Before considering going exclusive with any platform, I'd like to see revenue from multiple platforms to see if it would be worth it to go exclusive with one. I think we're considering contributing to Blackbox next to submit to 5 platforms and to minimize time we spend in the submission process.... Also hopefully we'll reduce our data consumption as well to go back to our regular internet package plan.... Does that answer your question?

      @@jdandkylestock3482 , I agree, I'm in the same boat and trying out different sites to see which ones I prefer. At the moment, I'm planning to stick with multiple sites for photography, while I'm leaning towards Pond5 Exclusive for video. What's nice is they allow you to have two different accounts if you want to upload certain content to be exclusive to their site.
