I really like this video and would love it if you two expanded on the topic by explaining how should you best price the photos you have on each servicer.
Great video and you've made excellent progress in your first 6 months. My costs almost disturb me to consider lol : Mavic 2 Pro drone + GoPro7 and had my computer upgraded and these alone cost $3700 AUD. This doesn't include the costs of purchases before I started microstock such as camera $1800 + Lenses > $2000 + Tripod $300 AUD, and also flashes and lots of bits and pieces including software costs etc. It's an expensive endeavour indeed. 11 months with SS, AS and Alamy and 1 month with Pond5. Total income from four platforms is $415 USD (about $605 AUD).
Thanks Steven! Yeaaaaah it's so easy to keep buying gear! We have to try really hard to keep ourselves in check and make sure we don't go crazy buying every little gadget we want! Lately, we've actually tried even harder just to make it work with just plane old cell phones - just trying to see what is possible with the bare minimum equipment! It's a fun challenge. Hopefully you'll recoup your costs soon! The stuff you bought for stock - do you use it for other business endeavors too?
@@jdandkylestock3482 No I haven't used that equipment for business endeavors - other than stock images and footage. I have used it to upload a few drone / GoPro videos to my YT channel but it's not a money maker at all. I have used the camera, tripod and lenses for real estate photography which I started doing in 2018. Only done a few jobs before the microstock bug bit in Feb 2019 and have put my energy into this. Just love the fact that with MS there's no marketing, invoicing, customer service etc etc!
Yaaaas we totally agree! It is nice. Our main bread and butter is wedding photography - it's a LOT of work with all the client communications and planning. It is nice that with stock, it's a much simpler process!
JD and Kyle Shoot slowly, but the only reason I have a lot of sales oh shutterstock is cause half of the sales are photos of politicians that are always in the news
JD and Kyle Shoot yea, that’s the only way to make a good amount off of photos. I know you guy watch Nicole glass, she lives in my area so we shoot similar events
You should focus on iStock, once the 1000 mark uploads is reached, you can see real money coming on every months. Got nearly 13K photos online on iStock and 4 figures income every months. Minimum 1.5$ average per download (sometime as low as 0.06$ and sometime as high as 100$, between 8 to 12$ at least 30 times a month). Shutterstock I got less photo because just registered but the 0.25$ sale is not really profitable, should do 4000 sales a month to start being interesting…
Thanks Christoph! Yes we've just started uploading to iStock! I'm kicking myself for not having uploaded sooner! They just have such a clunky interface/ upload process, I was scared away! That's awesome to hear your numbers though! That's amazing!! :)
Nice! That's great Pavle! Be patient with Pond5! It took us a while to see sales there, but it's been the best place for our video sales so far! Adobe has been great too. It takes a while, but when the sales come in, they've been higher than Shutterstock.
Hey Mike! It's been really random honestly. We're primarily using our osmo pocket to film (amzn.to/2Mn5vI6). The types of shots that come out the best with that camera are landscape type shots. So we've had a couple of those sell. As well as a random one of Kyle running his hands through his hair! 😂 No joke! Have you sold much in the way of video yet?
@@jdandkylestock3482 Hello :) Thank you for your answer, i haven't upload any videos, i only have 20 photos at the top stock agencies.I am thinking to buy a camera again this is why i asked. But i know it's difficult to make any money, only the top photographers are making enough..
Great video & congrats on your earnings so far. A quick question - there was some talk of Adobe giving a free one year subscription for over 300 assets. Did you ever receive the Adobe code for it? I recently started with stock & got 300+ of my images up on Adobe & still waiting for the email with the code
Manpreet- Yes! We got our email for the the accepted photos bonus, but we never got one for the video... Odd. We need to check up on that. But the photo promo code email was labeled "Your Adobe Stock Contributor Bonus" in the subject line. Hope this helps!
Guys i want to ask you a question. I'm newly started to upload image on getty using the esp site. But i'm wondering if i need to do another upload for istock? or my image sell on both sites when i upload on getty?
Ooooh, good question Canberk. Wish we had an answer for you! We're not too familiar with Getty. We started submitting to istock recently, but we've stayed away from Getty because it's an exclusive platform the last we heard. Exclusive meaning, if you post your images there, you can't post them anywhere else.
If you use esp, and are registered on iStock, your editorial photos will be automatically displayed on Getty as well as your best Creative content if they are Nominate for Signature Plus. However, if you are on Getty, your photo stay there. Getty bought iStock and it goes that way and not the other because Getty is considered "High end" and iStock "Stock photo", so, not the same market (Unlike iStock, some Getty photos are sold up to 600 $)
@@jdandkylestock3482 This is not true, first you can choose to be exclusive or not, second, even as exclusive, you can upload elsewhere as long as it's a different batch (e.g. your best photos on iStock and the others elsewhere, it's ok, but if it's the same photos, not ok, except on your portfolio and direct prints for sale).
@@christophecoat1914 To clarify - so with Getty, if you upload images to them, you can upload them elsewhere as well? (Not referring to iStock, referring to Getty itself.)
@@jdandkylestock3482 About Getty, I've heard they are exclusive but not sure if the contract is different. They bought iStock few years ago (2016 if my memory is good) and the contract on iStock wasn't changed probably due to legal issue. I'm there since 2007 and it's still the same contract. You should get a copy of the Getty contract to be sure but I don't know if you can get it if not registered first.
Happy new years!!! How's your January looking so far guys? Nothing crazy to report here.

How your osmo pocket perform in low light conditions?
Lol not well at all! The image starts to get too grainy at 400/ 800 iso. It works best in ideal lighting situations
