These 5 Guitars Make Me Want To Vomit...
It sounds like an Ovation, which is not a bad thing at all in my view and getting an acoustic that isn't a Classical with a 45-46mm nut is almost impossible, especially in the lower budget price range. It's certainly on my watch list for the future. The nylon strings don't bother me as I have a classical already although it needs a good set up.
Absolutely, couldn’t agree more. Thanks dude! 🤘
I don't think the same about the "IBANEZ RG421-AHM" I got it few days ago. The weight of this guitar is 4.2 kg. That it means good sound & sustain (excellent wood & F106 bridge) I'm very surprised of all opinions or problems in this video about this kind of guitar (IBANEZ RGs) I have friends got this model guitar (IBANEZ RG421-AHM) and no problems at all. That's the reason I bought it.
Thanks for watching dude. This isn’t an RG, it’s an RGA. The model you’re talking about my best mate has and is a much better guitar. Cheers 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars You're right my friend (true) IBANEZ RG421-AHM is much better...
Make more guitar videos, keep playing, take care and stay awesome dude. Greetings from Mexico City
Thank you my dude! I hope you’re doing well! 🤘
I played a strat when my friend had one in high school. (That was the mid 90's) Other than that it has been an acoustic or a Les Paul. This year I bought a player II series and it's fantastic. It did need some set-up, but that was easy enough even for me. It's so comfortable it feels like cheating. Good wood again, rolled edges, it's nice.
the only major problem I see is having to drop the picks in from the top
Definitely an issue! 😂 Thanks for watching mate 🤘
wrong pickup = wrong guitar Why is that so hard for people to understand????
Thanks for watching mate! I dunno if I agree man, there’s much more goes into a guitar than just the pickup. There’s the playability, the looks, or even the fun of doing mods. Appreciate your thoughts though!
This is what i came her for.... and i am not disappointed! 🤣 Awesome stuff mate 👌
My dude, thank you! Excited to do more of these, I hope you like ‘em 🤘
I just bought this guitar from Sweetwater with a Plek guitar setup in A tuning. I am waiting to receive the guitar, but I'm sure I will love it. It will be my second Shecter 7 string guitar that I have owned. The blue burst body looks so beautiful.
Congratulations on the new guitar dude! I hope you have a blast with it 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars Thank you so much Jack!
Thank for making guitar playing appealing again. raw and true. as a beginner, the internet makes it looks like you're the black sheep in this perfect guitar ecosystem.
Thank you dude! That means a heck of a lot to me. I know exactly what you mean, like, I’ve been playing around two thirds of my life now and I still feel that way regularly. There’s gonna be loads more of these videos so you’re always welcome to stop by, chill, and have a go at some of these riffs too. Appreciate you mate, keep going 🤘
this is top tier content dude!!! it's so cool to see you figure this stuff out, especially as someone who can't play guitar. I think it would be sick to see you try all different genres of guitar playing; hardcore stuff like Knocked Loose, more technical stuff like Polyphia, or even some older stuff like Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin.
My dude! Thank you man, I'm stoked you enjoyed it and massively appreciate the feedback. I'm definitely going to wander into some new territory as the series goes on. What I'm hoping it becomes is just a chill 20 minutes every few weeks where people can discover some riffs they might not have heard or learnt and just jam with me. We'll see how that pans out bro. Hope you're doing well 🤘
i bought a fender player plus top in september 2024, it's a great guitar, i just don't like the clean sound but it's the only issue i have, honestly i prefeer cv pickups for cleans
I'm really glad you like it dude! CVs are not to be scoffed at man, I wish I'd bought one instead of this. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Fantastic record! My favorite song is Sweet Tooth! 🤘🏻
It really is a killer record, just non-stop bangers imo! Thanks for watching mate, I hope you enjoyed the video. And, if you have any feedback, criticisms, anything, please let me know. This series is super new so I need help shaping it 🤘
I watched the last video of you playing riffs and chilling and it was intervals ! I really like that natural colour strandberg ! You’re about to 4:18 get the crazy run ! I’m scared of 4:30 that bit too ! But you can definitely do it man :)
Sorry I appear to be half asleep my friend ! I shall rewatch this tomorrow ! Rock on 🤘. To be fair it’s 1 am in Melbourne :)
I’ve been learning what the dead men say by Trivium and discovered down picking is not my forte.. I may have to take some of your tricks by tricking myself into playing faster and then one step back . increasing the bpm You weren’t built for shredding guitar but you can certainly do it my my friend ! :) haha 😂 I got your Yorkshire joke because of bbc comedy . I can’t play most of my favourite music . Btbam riffs terrify me but I love them and very keen to one day play all of one of their albums . Probably automata 2 or something . Though my hands might require surgery afterwards because their songs are serious 🧐 proggy craziness
Wow ! I sound drunk 😂right now . Sorry about that 🙏
Haha thanks for watching my dude! I appreciate the kind words as always. Hope you got some sleep bro, take care 🤘
no joke the quality on my AB1 7 string rivals my made in USA Kiesel. this video may have convinced me to get a 6 - I love a thin C but was concerned the neck would be too close to that typical Mexican Strat C which I always wish was thinner
That's awesome dude! These are thinner than the C shape from the strats for sure but they're not a wizard either. I think it's a decent middle ground. Thanks for watching dude 🤘
Grabbed this to try at guitar center. Felt amazing, good job nick and schecter
Killer guitars dude! Thanks for watching man 🤘
Interesting. Clicked on your Epi prophecy video because I have locking tuners in my head atm. Yeah playing the same over and over. When learning new things I tend to go noodling around instead of keeping the focus on the lesson. Been diagnosed 13 years ago. Had concussion in 2018. It full chaos after that. Used to build guitars for hobby. Hyperfocus on that. Can be quite tiresome too. Been looking at technique videos lately. Trying to do better on bad habits.
Ah dude, that sounds like a challenging situation to be in. I hope this video goes some way to helping you get what you want out of guitar though man. Focus on what you enjoy most. Appreciate you watching, thank you 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitarsI still enjoy guitars and playing. Think a teacher irl would benefit me more over youtubelessons. Then again done that and forgot a lot of things when home again 😄 Good you mention this topic. Got a multi-effect pedal with looper in it. I do enjoy that very much and I still do setup work and tinkering in guitars. That’s fun too. My friends benefit from that. Subscribed
That's awesome man. You're still getting the positives from it and that's the best thing guitar can give us, I reckon. Thank you my dude, I appreciate it massively 🤘
thats me litterally
Thanks for watching mate! I really appreciate it 🤘
Hey dude! I just want to say, you're on the right track in my opinion. As someone who spent years making microphone reviews and then began to despise my channel for being so product centric, I saw success when I started NOT CARING what the algorithm wanted me to do. I starting creating under the notion that if I build a video worth watching, a video I really cared about, the human behind the view is smart enough to remember me the next time a video comes out, regardless of if thats a month from when they first saw me. My best advice is genuinely to forget about what you think will get you 1/10. Present something that you spent hours and hours and hours making. Something that when you go to upload you’re trembling because you put so much sweat and working hours into it you’re hoping its received well. Make videos you’re proud to refer to as a creative expression of yourself. When I abandoned product reviews, and when I started making videos that motivated me to spend HOURS on the research, the script, and in the edit, that’s when it started working out. Within 6 months I was able to do this full time, regardless of a weekly cadence or worrying about that nasty 1/10. Cheers dude, you’re following the SAME path I did, and its a good one (and btw, I was around 7k subs too when I came to this realization)
Bro! It's you, from Status! I fucking love the earbuds and studio cans. I'm sat with the CB-1s on right now writing some music! That's super weird but really nice to sort of meet you, dude. This is such a reassuring and thoughtful comment, thank you sincerely. I'm still wrestling with the anxiety about where this is going to go so this has actually put my mind at ease a ton. I know the same rules don't apply across this platform for everyone but knowing that the approach I want to take is what you did is comforting. I appreciate this so much, dude. Thank you again. Hopefully you can check in again later down the line and I'll be following your path 👊
Slightly unrelated but man this past month i started thinking about having adhd and everything i have read and seen just further confirms it. This thing literally stole all of my life since i left for university. I can start anything but i have given up on everything as well. No new skills, no new experiences, no new friend and haven't even got the degree yet. Knowing that there is a legitimate reason for me to be like this makes me hopeful that i can change my life around but man, 6-7 years down the drain and knowing it could have probably been avoided just by me knowing i had adhd makes me feel really empty. I wish i had a time machine right now. Thank you so much for this video you are amazing and keep at it
Dude, yeah. I 100% know how you feel. I struggled a lot with feeling like I’ve wasted so much time but the good thing is, now, I’ve got that peace in that I don’t have to beat myself up anymore. There’s an explanation and a path forward. I’m with you dude. Keep your head up, you can look at life differently now and make better decisions. You’ve got this 🤘
Killer guitar! Completely relate with your message, as well!
Thank you man, that means a lot 🤘
I got on of each 6,7 and the boden nx8, The only one in gonna sell is the 8 because its a little to much haha. Love them. Its hard to go back to a "Classic" guitar after 🎸 In lucky to live 4 hours away from their HQ so i can order them and get them the next day, try if i like for 30 days and buy/return and its always awesome customer service
Ah thats awesome man! I’m hoping to come over to see family this year so maybe I’ll order one to their house to take home 😂 Thanks for watching dude! 🤘
Hi! May I ask what the single knob is for? Is it a tone or volume knob? I'm thinking of doing a similar build. Thank you
Hey! Yeah it's a single volume control. Best of luck with the build! 🤘
Hey dude! Really nice review. I’ve been thinking on swapping my Guthrie Govan for two strandbergs, a prog and an original, do you think it’s a good idea?
Thank you mate! That's hard to say because I don't just want you to take my word for it. The Guthries are cool guitars! But, personally, I just think Strandbergs offer an experience that you don't get with other guitars. I'd rather have two strandbergs than one guthrie signature but that's just me. Good luck with whatever you decide! 🤘
it's a great guitar but I'm not a fan of the poplar wood. kinda gives me tripophobia. that's just me personally.
That does make sense man, totally get it! Thanks for watching 🤘
I can‘t agree more! A few weeks ago I bought my First Strandberg, a Boden Fusion NX. And just after a few Seconds I immediatly noticed that this is the Most comfortable guitar I have ever played. I just wild my Custom Shop Strat and some other Guitars and bought another Boden Prog 6 NX in Charcol. It‘s simply an amazing sounding and ergonomic guitar.
That's awesome man, I'm really glad you love it! Thanks for watching dude 🤘
The only people that cries about fender guitar or metal and punk guitar wannabes
Thanks for clicking the video mate, I appreciate it. Like I said in there, I like Fender guitars, I just don't like that they think it's fine to sell people like you and me a substandard product. I love the strat as a model and I've played great ones. They just need to do better and make more of those and not the ones like this which are getting more and more common. Thanks dude! 🤘
Yeah, I don't need this guitar: a) got enough guitars, b) need to learn how to play better first, c) neck too long, d) many other reasons. I'm good. _clicks add to cart_
This is how it happens man 😂 Thanks for watching 🤘
Could you do a tutorial on how you create these? It just sounds fantastic.
My dude, I really appreciate that. I'm actually part of the way through making a course on my full process for writing and production. It's a little ways off, maybe a couple of months, but I'm specifically pricing it at an affordable level so everyone who's new to recording can get into it without spending more than the price of like a meal or something. If you're interested I'm gonna put preorders up at some point, I think 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars Sounds great!!! LFG
Love the outcome! Excellent work! I wonder how difficult making custom neck inlays are
Thank you so much man! I've only ever replaced dot inlays on a neck before and that wasn't too hard, anything fancier than that and I think it'd be serious work. Interesting thought though! 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars That makes sense. Thanks for the reply!
Okay 🔥 that's what I'm talking about! 😈 The 5/8 riff caught me by surprise lol.
Cheers bro! I’m really glad you liked it. That riff was just me wanting to add a little bit of something 😂
@JackTaylorGuitars prog for life 🥸🤖
You've just validated me man. I want to call what I make prog but don't feel like it's technical enough most of the time so I just say instrumental rock 🤣 Made my evening!
I mean to be fair, the touch of my fender strat is better than my ex partner, but mines a 2012 ;)
A much better time for Fender mate! 😂 Thanks for watching 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars thank you I'm not knowledgeable on the periods. I tried at the shop with an agenda and bias to find it nothing that great and played it, and it's been my main axe ever since, thought he electronics have changed. Still love it.
I'm not either man, I just know that the ones I've played from around that time felt like a different level to what they're putting out now. And making it your own with mods is one of the beauties of having a strat dude!
Making content about people making content about people playing guitar. I saw the 🍏 Strandberg and got excited. 😢
It’s just one video man. Don’t think I’d have got my point across in the form of a song 😂 Appreciate you watching 🤘
@JackTaylorGuitars haha I know. I'm just being a smart ass. I'll definitely check out some of your tunes and playing. Looking forward to it😎🤙
😂 Thank you my dude, that means a ton 🤘
I like channels like @theguitargeek - his reviews are not "this is the greatest thing ever" but "here's the positive and minuses, go and make your own mind up" plus a more journalistic approach in his 'the week in gear' videos.
Yeah man not a bad shout! Thanks for watching dude 🤘
If we're being completely honest with ourselves (speaking for myself only), watching great guitar players noodle and shred, despite how good they are, is kind of boring. I get it, you're really good, but I like songs, and I especially like good songs with good lyrics. I also don't need to be invalidated as a player watching guitarists play circles around what I can do; is it inspiring at times? Of course, but there is only so much input one can take without feeling it may be a better option to find one of thousands of songs I love and learn the song. There are plenty of challenging songs and solos exclusive of shredders and gear heads. I grew up a fan of great guitar players, and the one thing that kept me interested were the songs. I've never been a fan of instrumental guitar albums, although I have a few, I never listen to them. The greatest part of Van Halen to me was the songs, Eddie was incredible, but if I'm being honest with myself, the songs are what I loved most, and it was simply a bonus that Eddie was phenomenal. I have Larry Carlton albums I never listen to, but I can listen to Larry play in the context of a great Steely Dan song. There's just something about a great player having to play within the limits of the song that forces greatness in fleeting moments that draws me in. Jack, I think you're right, we've lost the reason we're really here, which is to create music. I feel as though we've become siloed into gear review, is this better than that, or we're showing off our chops and wanking. Either way, I'm missing the music... Some nice introspection on your part.
Thank you mate, this is a really thoughtful comment. I absolutely agree, invalidated is definitely the word to describe how I feel occasionally when I see some of the acrobatics these dudes are pulling off on the instrument. What you're saying totally rings true with me. I think from my perspective, I'm not one of those dudes with the impeccable chops. I couldn't put out content that rivals what they're doing even if I wanted to. For me, it's about finding the creativity in the guitar space again and showing the process of what everyone can do, whatever skill level, and just being a place for similar minded folks to come for that type of stuff. Aside from the fact that I can't bring myself to become another gear dude trying to make a living off selling stuff to players who, probably, don't even need a new guitar. I dunno man, it's complex but I want to work it out this year. Hopefully, by next year, I can post another video saying it worked how I hoped or I'm happier for it, or ideally both. Appreciate you mate, thank you 🤘

@@JackTaylorGuitars yeah man, ordered mine today! So keen. by the way, please can you tell me what the riff is at 6:49 because it's driving me nuts!
It's Serpents Chokehold by Malevolence dude 👊
This is an incredibly important point that you're making. I am glad I found this video. For years, I had the same thoughts - the method I found, was introducing gamification. It goes back to your tip about having a purpose. MMO games such as World of Warcraft with quest systems can get someone hooked to the screen for 24h straight - thats because the quests have a quest line - the purpose is extremely clear, in your face, and so is the reward for completing it - you get items and level up points. As a developer I wrote a program that gives me purpose by keeping track of progress and gamify the process of learning. Some form of progression tracking journaling also works.
Thank you dude, I'm really glad it resonated. Yes, exactly! Gamification is such a great way to make your goals more actionable. For me, it's like the leveling up is making songs and the boss is finishing the album. Is your program like a personal thing or is it available? 🤘
@JackTaylorGuitars thanks!! Heh, just a personal app. Opening it up to public can be done, but it involves significant work, and I just did not have the time. Which circles back to exactly this great video - there is always some distraction in the way, I suppose.
That's fair man! I know that there's probably a lot of us that could make good use of a tool like that but, yeah, distractions are plentiful! Cheers dude!
die an hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain
That's pretty much how I feel man, although I'd never call myself a hero 😂 Thanks for watching dude 🤘
🔥🔥🔥🔥
🙏👊
It is one of the best investments I've made in a musical instrument / music gear. It plays so easily and sounds so nice. 👌🏻🎶 In addition to being beautiful!
Amazing! So stoked you like it. Cheers for watching! 🤘
that was'nt a boring guitar, black guitar rules!. But amazing result, I always enjoy this kind of videos!, yellow and black is a great combo
Thank you dude, I'm really glad you like it! 🤘
Schecter best bang for buck by far. $1,000 goes a lot further with Schecter than it does with Fender or Gibson.
100% mate! Thanks for watching 🤘
i really enjoy honest reviews but we all need to remember that there are used 15 year old guitars on reverb that is all we need to be guitar gods. That and a million hours of honest practice on 90 different things but that's the hard part
We do need to remember that, might be part of a new series I'm thinking about too 👀 Thanks for watching mate 🤘
thank you bro. what's been working for me is those jam tracks with the fancier scales (non-pentatonic) on screen. I can play along to those all day and I actually feel improvement edit: skip the drugs for sure!!!! they zombiify ya!!!!!!
Absolutely man, improvising to those tracks is such a great way to improve. And thanks for the tip man, that's absolutely what I'm anxious about 🤘
Why would I watch someone else play guitar, when I could just play guitar?
I dunno man, I guess it’s different for everyone but, for me it’s either entertainment when I’m not playing guitar, learning something, inspiration. Plenty of reasons. Thanks for watching dude 🤘
