I have owned six Strandberg models at one point, and now I only have two and sold the rest. I was initially a huge fan, but with more experience and more exposure to other brands/models and comparing them, the shortcomings of Strandbergs became obvious. If I were to give my feedback to Ola, this is what I would tell him: 1) Non-multiscale is important to have because many people don't like them, no matter how mild the fan-frets are. I'm one of them. 2) The Endurneck isn't for everyone, and while I don't hate it, I don't prefer it either. I would choose any of my other guitar's "normal" neck profiles over the Endurneck. Maybe create non-Endurneck models? 3) The neck-heel joint is one of the worst aspects of the Strandberg body design. The heel starts too early and impedes comfortable upper-frets access. Even the cheap Eart W1, which is a Strandberg ripoff, knew to not copy that area and made their neck-heel much higher and with a much shallower contour, and it's far more comfortable than Strandberg in that aspect. The NX model redesign addressed it but not nearly enough, because the heel still starts too early. Ideally, on 24-fret guitars, I would want the thumb to be able to reach at least the 17th fret before hitting the heel. 18th fret or later is even better. The EBMM Majesty is a great example of how total freedom from neck-heel joint obstruction. Even my mid-priced Schecters have set neck/neck-thru and are very comfortable in the upper-frets access. Strandberg needs to at least make more neck-thru models so they're widely available. 4) I wish Strandberg models had wider range of tone options via the switching system. I love my Ibanez and Charvel models with the mini toggle switch to split/tap the coils, giving me 10 different tones. The toggle switch is so much more ergonomic than push/pull knobs because you won't accidentally turn the knob when using the feature. My favorite aspect of the Strandberg design is the light weight and the lower body carve, which allows me to sit and play with the guitar on my right thigh. I wish all guitars had that carve. So, if Strandberg came out with a model that had these features, I'd buy it in a heartbeat: -Neck-heel joint pushed further towards the body. Ideally starting at 18th fret or further -Normal non-multiscale frets -Normal neck profile -Wider range of tones via a mini toggle switch like on some Ibanez and Charvel models. Ideally 5-position blade switch and then five more tones via the toggle -Keep the lightweight -keep the lower body carve for comfortable sitting position with the guitar on the right thigh

Well said sir. What brought me to Strandberg was how BAD my hands are. (arthritis) Infact...I think you have a similar issue that you addressed in an earlier video. I agree that they are a pricey guitar. I have a couple of Gibsons that cost triple of what I paid for my Strandberg. The Strandberg NECK profile is what got me back into the game and I recognised this the first time I got to play one for a few days. I always wanted a 7-string and, when I seen the Bodin, it was a done deal. I can only imagine the expense , the time, the "trial & error" that went into developing this neck. I can recognise the expense of these guitars just as much as somebody who buys a Gibson or a custom shop Fender. These are QUALITY instuments. If Strandberg wants to reach-out to a big section of guitar players, how about us players whose hands have "gone south". Thank you for being respectful on you channel. This is a "breath of fresh air".
Thank you mate! Yeah, you’re right. I’m pretty sure I remember your comment on the earlier video too. I with you man, for what these guitars are capable of the price is justified. And I appreciate the kind words too, I hope your hands are doing well with the ‘berg 🤘
I'm happy to hear that they helped you with your hand issues ! I have a back condition and Strandberg helped me immensely, too Apologies I didn't mean to sound insensitive. I would be a little upset if someone said I had back issues. I hope your arthritis is doing okay and wish you all the best of luck. Music is medicine. Keep on playing!
I have the exact same two Strandbergs as you. The green 6 and the blue 7. But I put Fishmans in the 6 as well :) I love em, and mine are pretty much perfect, but qc is generally not good enough. The fret jobs differ extremely from one guitar to another which is why I never just bough the first one that I tried. One has fret height all over the place and the next has absolute dream fret job.
Fishmans in the 6 is an absolute pro move dude. I'm considering an upgrade for mine so I might follow your lead! That's interesting man. I can't say I've had any issues, though my 7 was second hand, but it's a good thing to bring up. Thanks for checking out the video dude, I appreciate it! 🤘

@@JackTaylorGuitars The selling process is painful though! LOL. But I'll set a killer prices on FB marketplace then wade through the 50 messages for each guitar.
Oh man, totally! I hate selling. I usually just go to my local guitar shop and take under asking (but still pretty fair) prices so I don't have the hassle. Not the smartest way to sell but it is easier. I hope you find a good deal on one dude and best of luck with the selling mission🤘
I totally agree. you mentioned some good points i never thought about. when i saw those j artisan models , or now the listed "futur" and "meloria" models with prices from 4000-9000$ , i started thinking they are kidding... If it is a company for pro players they could do custom guitars, as they did some decades ago. But offering a guitar for a full community with this imense price is just stupid.
Thank you mate! I'm completely torn on the new models, like, I think the option is cool for those who have the money but musicians aren't often the guys who are rolling in it. Seeing 3 new lines that are insane amounts of money when the regular stuff is expensive enough, then only one new 'affordable' model was a bit jarring. That said, I'm thankful the Essential exists. Ultimately, I'm sure they know what they're going for and have the sales stats to back up the decisions. Cheers for checking out the video dude 🤘
I had a Boden but sold it. I just wasn’t in love with it. The other problem was it has the sharpest fret ends I’ve ever had on any guitars I’ve owned (around 60 of them). For a $2K guitar, I just found it unacceptable, especially because all of my guitars are kept in a climate controlled studio (45% humidity year round). To be fair, this is my only experience with Strandberg.
That's completely fair dude, I wouldn't keep a guitar that I had a problem like that with either. It's a shame you had such a bad time. Personally, all 3 of mine have been fantastic in terms of quality but I'm sure some get out with issues just like all brands. Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
I’m having the exact same issue with a brand new Salen NX trem. Out of the box, the action was 2.7mm, and I’m just not happy with it. My Salen Deluxe and Jazz, are both flawless.
Your comment about Strandberg showing off their artists makes sense. So far, I only really know of Plini that shows how he plays in his videos. He also does a semi-regular workshop in Uppsala which I have not yet been to (quite expensive!) but can imagine it is very high value. A good comparison is with David Maxim Micic. His podcast, engagement with his fans on discord and discussions on writing, playing, theory and so on is excellent.
P.s. I absolutely love my NX 7, it gives me butterflies every time I see it! Was curious about the Essential line or a chambered 6 with trem. Guess I’ve got some thinking (and saving!) to do!
Thanks mate, I'm glad it's not just me 😂 Does he? I'm visiting some family in Sweden this year hopefully and we're not far from Uppsala. I was joking about asking Ola to let me visit Strandy HQ but I doubt that'll happen haha Yes! David seems like a fantastic dude. I'm with you on that for sure! Cheers for watching mate, I really appreciate it! 🤘
I have a small addition to the conversation but it won't pertain to everyone. I live in an area where there are not a lot of music stores. In the immediate vicinity (say an hour's driving time radius) there are three stores. If I take that up to three hours there are about a dozen. That's not too bad but each store carries pretty much the same inventory. It's always about 75% Fender and Gibson products, 20% Ibanez, Jackson, PRS and Schecter and the remaining 5% might be a Dean or something like that. With even the "lower end" Strandberg's costing $1,700 and up I'd like to be able to play one before forking over that kind of cash. I'd love to try the Endurneck, the fanned frets, etc.. I've been playing almost 40 years and currently own 23 guitars but I've never even seen a Strandberg in person. I get that it could be a regional thing and there may be people who go into their local stores and ONLY see Strandberg, Suhr, Tom Anderson, etc. but that's not here. If they could find a way to expand their distributors I think it might also help. Just my two pennies.
Definitely a valid point! I think the closest store over here is about 1.5hrs away to actually get hands on a Strandberg in store. I bought mine online but I think it’s a better idea to try instruments first, especially at this price. What you’re saying makes perfect sense to me man! Thanks for checking out the video too 🤘
Great points man, I was oh so close to buying a Strandberg the other day, but I couldn’t vibe with any of the colours, if they ever release a glacier blue 6 I will buy it on the spot though!
@@JackTaylorGuitars mate, I just bought an nx7 glacier blue 😭, my previous experience with an Ibanez 7 string I hated how big it felt, but the colour of this one and the fact I’m super impatient, also your comments on playability, had to buy it, hopefully I can get used to it now! 😂
I keep telling myself I don't need a Strandberg, the urge to just buy one is getting hard to ignore. I am just scared I will love it so much that I will have to sell all my other guitars and replace them with Stranbergs
I know the feeling dude 😂 I wouldn't worry though, if you love your other guitars it doesn't have to replace them. It's kind of like a different experience. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
I have LOTS to opinion to share. I own a handful of strandys and feel their biggest problem is QC. The current catalogue of guitars are honestly a BIG step back from what the brand offered throughout 2011 - 2021, back when the guitars were built in South Korea and had full maple caps and roasted maple necks and boards. Not to mention the slew of electronics issues, nuts cut with inconsistent string spacing, cheap components and the dreaded zero fret ping on the high B and E strings.....For the current asking price it's not worth the money. For the same or maybe even slightly less you can get ALOT more guitar with a brand like Kiesel, which is made to measure, American built, and no QC issues. I own guitars from both brands and the quality is night and day between the two.
The problem with Strandberg is that the price makes you think you are paying for quality, but you're actually paying for design features. Don't get me wrong; they are great guitars! I have had a few and love them.
For sure, that definitely does factor into the price and I do appreciate the work that goes into them. I love them too dude but I'm glad to see a cheaper option come about. Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
Yeah man, definitely. They're great actually, really stable and completely floating. There's not as much room for pull back as a floyd but there's still a fair bit to play with. My trem Strandbergs barely need tuning but I still do out of habit. Thanks for watching man 🤘
Thanks for checking out the video dude! It's a relief that it was relatable mate. What's your feeling about them? I think Strandberg are taking some good steps forward though so I guess we'll see where it goes. Thanks again 🤘
a guitar is a tool, I don't need to feel at attachment to the company that makes drills, screwdrivers, or anything else...why should it be any different for a guitar?
That's totally valid if you feel that way dude. Personally, I couldn't imagine being that disconnected to the thing that's brought me so much joy in life. It's the thing I create with and I bet there's a carpenter somewhere that feels exactly the way I'm talking about for the brand of tools they use. I don't give a toss about my toolbox but I pour ours of my life in guitar doing create stuff. I think it's only natural to want to feel some sort of attachment when it becomes an extension of yourself. Just my thought though mate, thanks for checking out the video 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars I agree to some extent, there are fanbases are cheerleaders for brands, all guitar brands have it and Strandberg is better than most at listening to and supporting their own, I suppose I'd worry about alienating those that don't feel representative of that community though - I am curious about owning an SG but I can't ever see myself buying a Gibson because I'm not a dentist or a lawyer even though some of my favourite post-hardcore records feature SGs and LPs 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah man exactly. And I feel completely the same about Gibson 😂 I’d maybe stretch to an explorer possibly but I wouldn’t feel right owing a Gibbons full stop, to be honest. Thanks again dude!
Thanks for checking out the video dude! I'm not against the current neck joint but I do agree it is a little higher than I'd like in a perfect world. Neck thrus are back though soon apparently, not that I'll be able to afford one 😂 Cheers bro 🤘
It can be a pain to get stands for them but I guess that's a consideration you have to make if you buy these shapes. That said, I've got a cheap amazon floor stand for one of mine that's doing a great job. Appreciate you watching mate 🤘
I totally agree with the pink and blue resq:d series being absolutely awesome but man, I love the quilt finishes on the progs and originals! Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
For sure man, both incredible players. They’re just not entirely my thing musically. Richard Henshall in particular seems like a great dude though! Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Kmac brought me into strandberg since i saw it for the first time and thought as i want one. Not a big fan of plini and other modern guitar players but i own Metal NX 7, i absolutely love this guitar and want more guitars in future even its more expensive in my country than the others. Ye i wish they hire more players out of “progish” side and more like from death or core metal genres. Also so great seeing Essentials due ive tried alot of cheaper headless guitars before my NX and they just sucks.
Thanks for watching man! I don’t know whether that’s necessarily true anymore, like, LTD just put out a ton of guitars at $1800ish dollars for example. I was checking out Aristides lately and you’re talking like 3k if you want to actually have it custom. I dunno who else I’d buy from honestly. Thanks again 🤘
Anyway I agree thoroughly with what you say. And also would like to say Ola please consider 🙏 checking out how much a strandberg costs in Australia . See if you can help us out! If you can't that's okay. I love your guitars and they blow my mind 🎸!
@JackTaylorGuitars I'm only joking haha. I can tell you put a lot of work into each video Jack! :) take care my friend. And I'm looking forward to hear what Ola has to say about your video 😆. Which is crazy cool by the way
Thank you bro! He might not even see it yet, I’m just gonna leave it to do its thing but the fact he was so cool about the last one is enough for me. Take care my dude 👊
I'm still waiting for an affordable, or at least semi affordable, headless guitar with a tremolo. Been waiting for Ibanez to make one but it doesn't seem to happen. When i saw Strandberg releasing an Essential line i immediately jumped to their website to check out the price on the Essential model with a tremolo, just to find out there is none. 😕 So, i'm still waiting! And IF Strandberg releases such a guitar, will it have a too cheap temolo so it can't stand some abuse? Maybe that is the problem!? Good tremolo and affordable is a bad match!? Hope some company can release something i want so i can give them my money. 😕
That is definitely something the market is missing right now. You'd have thought we'd have a Q series with a trem given how long it's been too. I wouldn't be surprised if Strandberg judge the success of the current Essential and bring out a trem version but I guess we'll see. Thanks for watching mate I appreciate it 🤘
The idea of getting one grew on me from 'ew no' to 'actually that's genius'. Wifes still in the butt ugly camp tho & not sure she'll come round to enabling me this time 😅
I think that's a common trajectory man 😂 Do what I did and just have one magically appear on the doorstep one day there's nothing the other half can do about it haha Thanks for checking out the video bro 🤘
Yeah man, I'm sure folks will survive 😂 It's a shame that a sub 1k offering isn't available because I think a lot of players would benefit but also, I get it from a business perspective. Either way mate, I hope you find something you love and thanks for checking out the video, I appreciate it 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars I like what Strandberg is doing quite a lot, but they're very expensive and *that's okay.* Nobody is gonna hear me play it anyway 🤣
@@CatalystOfFire For sure, I’m with you man. Although just in passing, I think the thing that matters most about any guitar is if it makes you happy to play it and whether anyone else hears it is secondary 👊
Sorry to hear that man! I’ve had that on a couple where the setup was very low but a little bit of relief in the neck sorted it right out. Have you given the truss rod a little tweak? Thanks for watching man 🤘
Yes I have. I think the frets need leveled. The high E string slips side too side too much as well causing fast wear on the zero fret. I know it's common practice to slot the nut wide on zero fret guitars but it's not neccesarry becuse the tuning is at the bridge. Still the most intonated guitar I have owned and the sustain suprised me.
Hmm that's a bit of a bummer dude, actually. A level and crown would be my next step too think after giving it a check with a fret rocker, if you can get away with just sorting one or two frets that would be ideal. I hope you sort it bro!
Tosin definitely could play whatever he wants and sound amazing. I don't see how that's got anything to do with what I said in this video though bro 😂 Appreciate you watching!

Waiting for a 7 string Essential model!
Yes dude and one with a trem for me! If they’re successful I’m sure we’ll get them. Thanks for watching mate 🤘
Essential 8 ! Seriously, though .... it looks as if the Essential has been selling like crazy.
I was joking about asking Ola to let me visit Strandy HQ but I doubt that'll happen haha
Yes!
Thank you my dude! Yeahhhh a glacier blue 6 would be absolutely killer. Cheers for checking out the video man 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars no worries man you make great content!
That's kind of you bro, thank you 👊
@@JackTaylorGuitars mate, I just bought an nx7 glacier blue 😭, my previous experience with an Ibanez 7 string I hated how big it felt, but the colour of this one and the fact I’m super impatient, also your comments on playability, had to buy it, hopefully I can get used to it now! 😂
Dude that's awesome! It didn't take any real adjustment for me at all man so I'm sure you'll be fine. I hope you love it mate 🤘
Thanks for the input dude, I appreciate it! And cheers for checking out the video 🤘
Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
Can you talk about the strandberg tremolo system? Especially in the saleen NX 6 trem ? It goes both ways? How good is in terms of tuning stability?
Yeah man, definitely. They're great actually, really stable and completely floating. There's not as much room for pull back as a floyd but there's still a fair bit to play with. My trem Strandbergs barely need tuning but I still do out of habit. Thanks for watching man 🤘
i completely agree, and am in a similar boat.
My problem with the Bergs are that I wish the neck was a bit slimmer and the neck joint was not so high up the fret board
Thanks for checking out the video dude! I'm not against the current neck joint but I do agree it is a little higher than I'd like in a perfect world. Neck thrus are back though soon apparently, not that I'll be able to afford one 😂 Cheers bro 🤘
F**k it. I’ll always smash the overtime for one of Ola’s zero compromise masterpieces, but this is a savvy move on his part.
Yeah man I am with you on that for sure! Thanks for checking this out dude 🤘
Well said Jack… well said indeed❤
Thank you so much man, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🤘
Also needs a $20 floor stand and a wall hanger or bundle them.
It can be a pain to get stands for them but I guess that's a consideration you have to make if you buy these shapes. That said, I've got a cheap amazon floor stand for one of mine that's doing a great job. Appreciate you watching mate 🤘
The finishes are boring. The only time I saw one that I liked was pink and orange and they were limited releases because they were rescue models.
I totally agree with the pink and blue resq:d series being absolutely awesome but man, I love the quilt finishes on the progs and originals! Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate it 🤘
Let´s not forget Paul Masvidal from Cynic ohhh...and Richard Henshall from Haken.
For sure man, both incredible players. They’re just not entirely my thing musically. Richard Henshall in particular seems like a great dude though! Thanks for watching mate 🤘
How about the S.essential? It is their way of trying to apeal to a wider audience
Love the idea of it dude. I talk about it quite a lot in this video actually, really want to get one. Thanks for watching man 🤘
Damn dude, reupload? Everything all good?
Yeah man all fine! I just realised the first upload had gone up in 720p when it should have been 1080p. Tech issues 😂
@@JackTaylorGuitars ah, all good man 👌 I swear tech has more issues than I do 😅 still a great video and well worth a rewatch 🤘
Yeah man, snap 😂 When you get me and a computer mixing it’s probably a bad time haha Thanks man, I appreciate it loads 🤘
Absolutely dude! Thanks so much for checking out the video, I really appreciate it 🤘
If they were $1300-1500 absolutely. But $2100? You can get a complete custom guitar for that.
Dude my comment disappeared 😂. Was it too long ? I Love my Strandberg guitar 🎸
Anyway I agree thoroughly with what you say. And also would like to say Ola please consider 🙏 checking out how much a strandberg costs in Australia . See if you can help us out! If you can't that's okay. I love your guitars and they blow my mind 🎸!
Not at all man, I had to re-upload the video! I didn’t realise something went wrong and the last one was in 720p 😂
@JackTaylorGuitars Oh all good ! :) ooh fancy your videos are very high quality !
Nicely done brother..🤘💪..hey stranberg I know a killer guitar player who's an even better person who would be a FANTASTIC ARTIST TO ENDORSE!!
Thanks so much bro, I appreciate it! Your faith in me means a ton but I doubt you'll ever see my face on the Strandberg site 😂
Thanks for watching mate I appreciate it 🤘
Makes sense, give this man a job.
Thank you mate! It's good to know I'm not just talking shite 😂
I like Trapt :)
And to this dude, the numbers don’t lie. You’re in the majority on this one!
My next guitar needs to be multiscale and I don't want to spend 1,000 USD, so it won't be a Strandberg. Sucks, but honestly everyone will be okay lol
@@JackTaylorGuitars 100% agreed!
Thanks
So I just wanted to thank you, dude. It's for the chats ,encouragement and just to tell you thatim
I'm genuinely proud of you and think you're doing an amazing job dude ! Thank you for being a I hope you're having an amazing day bro ! 😊
Bro, thanks so much! You didn't need to do that! I massively appreciate your kindness man and I hope you're doing good 🤘
My one has crazy fret buzz
Wait, you have 3 Strandbergs!?
Yeah… I don’t always make the best financial decisions dude, admittedly 😂 Thanks for watching mate 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars love it!
😂 My Mrs doesn’t haha
@@JackTaylorGuitars trust me I know, my annual bonus is coming in and mine isn't too happy about that Chapman ML3 I'm looking at lol
😂 Just something they need to get used to if they're with guitar players I guess! Hope you enjoy the ML3 if you get your hands on it dude!
Okay, the cheese thing is rediculous LMAO
Absolute insanity mate 😂 Thanks for checking out the video dude, I appreciate it 🤘
Won't work because Tosin could play a Fender Squier and still be amazing.
Don't need a Strandberg to sound good.
Tosin definitely could play whatever he wants and sound amazing. I don't see how that's got anything to do with what I said in this video though bro 😂 Appreciate you watching!
It sounds like you need to start your own business. You’re clearly smarter than Ola.
I know you’re trying to have a dig dude, I don’t know why, but Ola wanted to hear my viewpoint and was super cool about it. He understands that sometimes you need honest, constructive criticism to make something better. If I’ve hurt your feelings on behalf of a guitar brand then I’m incredibly sorry. Thanks for watching 🤘
yo yo yo don;t talk about trapt like this. Chris brown will find you and tell you that he is so popular and you are nothing :D:D:D:D::D:D:D:D
😂 You're right mate. He seems exactly like the type of person who'd be upset with throwaway comments from a tiny channel like mine haha Thanks for checking out the video dude 🤘
@@JackTaylorGuitars actually trapt have pretty good songs and I liked their album "someone in control" .I commented on trapt's channel once and said that I love their album, and Chris instantly jumped on me all mad and got butthurt. Dude, I'm not a fan personally but the music from Trapt does what it's supposed to do. I can't fault people for liking what they like! But he sounds a bit unhinged for that, I'm glad you gave him a taste of what he needs 😂 Thank you bro, I really appreciate that. Happy to have you around 🤘
This is stupid
