Pick moving in my hand has been a problem for me as well, that’s why I recently purchased Ernie ball prodigy picks, the big triangle shaped ones. That seem to do the trick for me, but I’m really intrigued by these picks now. I’d love to try some. I’m not a very fast lead guy but I love to write riffs and rhythm parts. You might try sticking a 3/8" felt dot on your pick to help with grip. They are sold for sticking on the base of objects so they won't scratch a table top. Very thin, adhesive usually at Dollar tree, 50 for a buck.

I discovered Dunlop Ultex Jazz III 2.0mm picks few months ago and haven't looked back...these look great, but if I lost a pick that cost me over $40, I'd be inconsolable!

Hey mate! That's because I haven't really experienced any sort of chirp at all and I think it's down to the bevel. I talk a bit about how they sound about 2/3s of the way through. They're far less noisy than a ton of other picks I've used. Thanks for watching man 🤘
Try making your thick picks out of a slightly softer material similar to Dunlop's nylon. The lid off an old Rubbermaid bin/tub is durable, won't chirp like harder lexan, lucite, polycarbonate. They feel just like a 20$ blue chip brand btw...
@@rustyshackleford9557I have some Ibanez Elastomer picks that are similar to what you're describing. They were designed specifically to decrease pick noise and come in different shapes and gauges. Their Tritan picks are good for that too.
I playing holding the pick backwards for over 25 years. A couple years back I switched to the conventional way, and it the best decision I ever made. It was a lot easier than you would think.

I prefer the jim dunlop max grip. They are easier to hold and dont move or slip even when you sweating. If these had the grip surface i would bave purchased them.
Yeah, they're decent picks man. A little too rough for my soft office worker hands honestly 😂 I wondered about how these would grip too without any texture but they stay in my fingers perfectly, I was super impressed! Cheers bro 🤘

I wish I could get around the clanking/chirping sound thick plectrums produces, due to how comfortable they are to hold, but those bloody sound drives me bonkers. As for ways to revitalise my favourite worn and rounded picks, I use a nail file to sharpen the edge and voila, good as new. I've been using 2 of the same Ultem Triangle picks for years now, up until I accidentally yeeted one into the abyss.
I guess this is where playing styles come in dude 'cause I've always found thin picks to be super noisy flicking off the strings and stuff. These have an attack but the bevel makes such a difference. Hope you're well mate and thank you as always! 🤘
V-picks has some with a raspy edges that completely takes away that tiny high pitch note that sounds from any plectrum with shiny finishes. It's amazing and works with both distortion and cleans.

No dude! I have no issues, frequency response is better than it’s ever been. You get like a louder more full note but no expanded bass or lower mid. I haven’t played as low as drop F but my 7 and baritone sound better than ever. Thanks for watching mate I appreciate it 🤘

He doesn’t do custom orders atm mate, I dunno about in the future. Always put the rough skate board deck tape and stuck a small piece in the middle of the pick on both sides. Or just took a ravor blade and put a bunch of light scratches on both sides for grip

Those tiny adhesive 3/8" green felt dots sold at Dollar tree for placing on the bottom of stuff so it won't scratch a table top work great . You get about fifty for a buck. They are very thin and don't bulk up your pick like skateboard tape.

Then a 1 dollar sheet of 1000 grit sand paper will polish it to perfection. My gigs rarely pay more than 100$ a man. I make most of my thick picks. Takes no time at all.

After playing off and on for around 20 years, I've just recently tried out the max-grip picks from dunlop, and they dont move in your fingers at all, locked in and comfortable.
Yeah they’re not bad! A mate of mine really likes em. I find it’s a bit like holding sandpaper or something though but that’s probably because I’ve got delicate desk job fingers 😂
@@JackTaylorGuitars Well I finally got my pics today! took a while to get to the UK from Aussie land. Been playing around with them for the last few hours and I'm kinda blown away. These are amazing! I got two sizes, a Mini Osprey which is super comfortable and small, and a Hellwing which is massive! and has a great shape. I keep swapping between the two, but generally the thickness is what helps the most with it not slipping. The shape of the Hellwing lets me use my middle finger to keep is stable while strumming; and the Mini Opsrey is real small and super good for picking. I will almost certainly be getting some more. 100% worth the £20 ish each. Really enjoyable to use.
I get what you're saying man. That's what I thought when I ordered them too dude. I didn't think I'd get along with picks that are 6mm and above but they've been so good. The best pick is an assortment of picks. Big thick picks are groovy for a lot of styles especially fast single note stuff, but a musical prostitute like myself does a lot of different gigs and if I am doing a country type gig where I am strumming a strat and really going for an acoustic guitar type strumming sound those thick picks just don't cut it. That is when a relatively thin pick really shines. And when my strings are a bit old, I find I can use a slightly lighter pick and brighten my tone up a bit rather than re-stringing a guitar. I love thick picks. And the ones this guy is selling (endorsing) are most likely great but if a guy has a hack saw and some sandpaper, picks are super easy to make. Btw...your sidewalk or driveway slab is a great giant " grinding stone" to get the basic shape before sanding to a fine finish. Guitarists often use money rather than their own common sense. There are so many things we can make if we just try, rather than just buy.
Thanks for the insight mate. I'm with you on the resourcefulness point, I think if you have the time and effort to make your own picks then absolutely go for it if it'll make you happy. Personally, I don't and I don't think making them would be nearly as fun as playing guitar for me. So I'd rather have a company like Jaketto exist. It's all about how much you value your own time. I decided to take a chance on something different, and tried a felt pick...they're all I use now. I'm a bass player, and hardly even play fingerstyle anymore. Felt picks have the attack of a normal pick, but with less clickiness to the sound. The only downside is I have to replace them after just a few days, but I assume they'd last longer for a guitarist than a bassist
@@JackTaylorGuitars Agreed, I have more time than money. I can make about 4 or 5 picks in an hour so yes it takes a good bit of time. They are probably worth 10$ ea. so that's 50$ an hour. My lawyer friend makes 225$ an hour. You won't see him making a pick out on his driveway.
That's cool man! Thing is, if you're happy doing it and it brings you some satisfaction as well as saving you money then it makes total sense. I know these picks aren't for everyone and that's totally fine. I try my best to save money elsewhere in life so I can get guitar stuff I like 😂

You didn't mention the problem thicker picks have, which is they chirp like crazy, especially with high gain tones.

Thanks for the insight mate. I'm with you on the resourcefulness point, I think if you have the time and effort to make your own picks then absolutely go for it if it'll make you happy. Personally, I don't and I don't think making them would be nearly as fun as playing guitar for me. So I'd rather have a company like Jaketto exist. It's all about how much you value your own time. I decided to take a chance on something different, and tried a felt pick...they're all I use now. I'm a bass player, and hardly even play fingerstyle anymore. Felt picks have the attack of a normal pick, but with less clickiness to the sound. The only downside is I have to replace them after just a few days, but I assume they'd last longer for a guitarist than a bassist
@@JackTaylorGuitars Agreed, I have more time than money. I can make about 4 or 5 picks in an hour so yes it takes a good bit of time. They are probably worth 10$ ea. so that's 50$ an hour. My lawyer friend makes 225$ an hour. You won't see him making a pick out on his driveway.

That's cool man! Thing is, if you're happy doing it and it brings you some satisfaction as well as saving you money then it makes total sense. I know these picks aren't for everyone and that's totally fine. I try my best to save money elsewhere in life so I can get guitar stuff I like 😂
