    In this video we talk about how much guitar you're actually getting for the money you're spending and whether it's a risky purchase or a big brain money saving move!

    Strandberg brought me here. ....My guitar teacher has recommended Strandberg to me so I'm doing the usual 'Watch 10,000 videos before making my mind' thing. Blown away by the guitar but also by your personality...Fantastic video and info on the Strandberg so I'm more than happy to subscribe. The Boden Essential looks tempting for the price but I think I'll wait and find the funds for the Boden Standard.....The Boden Original might be a bit of a stretch price wise....either way they look like fantastic guitars. Cheers.

      I know the exact youtube rabbit hole you're going down mate but seriously, thanks so much for the kind words mate. That means a huge amount to me and I'm stoked to have you around. The Essential is one I want to get my hands on pretty badly dude but I think a Standard would be a great way to go. Thanks again for checking out the video and the comment man, have a good one and I hope you find the guitar you're looking for! 🤘

    Nice bit of content here! I can’t believe that the neck wood/color would have been the one thing to make it b-stock and knock the price down to that extent, but yeah, looking at it throughout the video, that’s the only obvious thing. Personally, I think it looks fantastic as it is. I love the natural finish.
    Been going down the YT rabbit hole with Strandberg for many months (since I discovered Dylan Reavey) and have just been fascinated by the whole concept. I now have a Boden Fusion NX 6 on the way and am anxiously awaiting my first experience with it. Here’s hoping I enjoy mine as much as you seem to enjoy yours!

      @@JackTaylorGuitars For sure, I really enjoy the vibe of your content. And thanks, it actually should arrive today so I’m anxiously looking forward to what is hopefully a great first impression of what appears to be a fantastic product! 🤞🏼

      @@JackTaylorGuitars Sadly, the Fusion had to be returned immediately due to it being damaged and broken when it arrived. Apparently, it came from a Guitar Center because Musician’s Friend had no more of that model in stock at their warehouse, so I got a badly abused floor model complete with a cracked neck joint, badly crooked bridge, various dents and scrapes and most tragically, a break in the wood that separates the two routs for the bridge pickup and bridge. I don’t know what was done to this thing, but that wood was cracked on both sides and all the way through so that basically, the bridge and bridge pickup were all that were keeping it in place. Currently processing a return and have a prospective replacement in the works once the return is complete, so I haven’t given up! Wish me luck haha 🤞🏼
      I will say though, despite the one I got being broken, it was otherwise a lovely guitar.

      Ooooh dude that absolutely sucks! I'm so sorry man but at least you'll get a replacement. It's trash when a guitar you're excited for turns up though and it's wrecked. Hopefully they sort themselves out and get one with you soon!

    Missed a strandberg video!
    Much appreciated 👏
    I agree about the pickups their awesome but not my first choice.
    The bridge is amazing, it's the neck I'm having problems with..
    Clean tones on it are just OK in my opinion😢 a bit thin.
    I thought I just didn't like strandberg Clean tones but after hearing strandbergs with oem pickups it sounds much better(only for Clean tones😅).

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Місяць тому

      Thanks for checking it out dude, I appreciate it! The neck pickup definitely is more mid heavy. I don’t mind it but sometimes I could do without it. Clean tones wise, I’m a big fan. I don’t use a lot of cleans but I like the chime you get, but it’s all personal preference! I totally get your point about them being a bit thin. Thanks again bro! 🤘

    I'm curious to try that neck. When someone actually puts research effort into a feature it can take a while before people understand it.
    I feel this way about the EQ switch Ibanez had in the RGA7 a decade or so ago. Got a lot of hate it at the time but its like a voicing/tap switch. In trying to understand the hate I realised it just makes the thing more versatile.

      Yeah dude I think you're exactly right! People are sometimes a little bit apprehensive to try new or unsual stuff aren't they. If you get a chance you should give one a go! Thanks for watching man 🤘

    It’s a gamble I took and I wasn’t happy with what I got. Paint was great but fretts and nut were off and one of the tuners was wonky. Fortunately I sent it back, got a new one and am quite happy.

    I love the look of Standbergs, but don't gel with neck. I've got four 8 strings, and my Strandberg is the one I reach for the least for writing. But, it sounds great, so I usually use it for one of my rhythm guitar tracks.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Місяць тому

      For sure, the neck can definitely be a bit polarising. I’m a big fan but I totally get why it doesn’t do it for people. It’s cool you still give it some love though! Thanks for watching dude 🤘

    I thought it was the side dots, but then I went and check at the site, they're all a little offset and are not centered in between the corresponding frets, the Essential model does though. Wonder why they didn't centered the side dots in between the frets though, OCD almost got me when I noticed them. 😂

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Місяць тому +1

      It's due to the multi scale i think dude. So they keep the dots equidistant down the side of the board but account for the scale. I'll admit, it was a little off putting at first 😂 Thanks my dude! 🤘

    • @chemo86
      @chemo86 Місяць тому +2

      They are centered to the 3rd and 4th string, to compensate for the fanned frets they don't line up with the low E.

    • @WailingRaven
      @WailingRaven Місяць тому +1

      I think it's a Strandberg specific thing. Went and search up some multi-scale guitars image, and the ones I could find showing the side-dots, they are centered in between the frets.
      Even the Ibanez SML721, that "borrowed" Strandberg's style of multi-scale, have the side-dots centered in between the frets.

    I would really like to try out a Strandberg headless guitar... before spending a couple of grand on one. Doesn't look like it's possible though.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Місяць тому +1

      Honestly, that is the smart choice. I just went for it with my first and found something I really like but it's definitely a bit of a gamble unless you do a return (which can be a pain in the ass). Thanks for watching dude, I really appreciate it 🤘

      You could try their new Essential lineup, they're a coin shy of a grand, brand new. Maybe wait until there are 2nd hand ones hitting reverb or some other marketplace that is local to you.

      Honestly even though I love my Strandberg I wish I had tried it first . I love my 7 string Nx standard Boden still . But I will never sell it and I adore it .
      By the way In Australia I wanted to sell my guitar about a month ago because of health issues and they said to sell it online on the used market . That’s the Strandberg team.. who emailed me . I was upset because yes I’ve owned it 8 months so it’s too late to get a refund but I thought they might offer for me to send it in and get a different model ???

      I have very few issues with my Strandberg. but I think they should offer a free strap . And a non plastic tool for adjusting the tuners . Multi tool I mean !
      Edit: Sorry Jack ! I was sleep deprived when I wrote these comments. I mean no Ill will towards Strandberg but for a 4,000 dollar guitar , I would expect a bit more support for the people like myself who buy their wonderful instruments 😂. I might reply to their email 😅

      My dude, I wish there was a way for you to get one a bit cheaper. I know it's all shipping and taxes and what not but it's a shame it's not easy for players to get their hands on certain things.
      Thank you man. I always appreciate you checking them out! Catch you in the next one bro 🤘

    Endurneck is bad.. Especially on barre chords thumb has no place for support

      I mean you're entitled to like what you like dude but all I can say is if you think there's no thumb support for barre chords your technique is probably not quite right. Thanks for watching mate!
