At Las Vegas, Elvis was contracted to do two concerts every day for 30 days without a single day’s break … same for back up singers & musicians, but ultimately Elvis had the responsibility. Plus there were rehearsals as well. He usually did either an 8pm or 10pm concert, & then a midnight or 2am concert every day …. So if he did the 8pm concert he would also do the midnight concert, & some other singer would do the 10pm & 2am concerts, but I don’t know whether they were contracted to do just a week or perhaps two weeks. Elvis did the month, because he was a superstar & every concert was Sold Out. He also toured around America, after 5 or 6 weeks break, apart from rehearsals. When he was touring, he often just did one concert in a certain area, before travelling the next day to another city to so another concert …. They would sleep on the coach, or if it was a longer trip, they would fly in one of Elvis’ planes, usually the Lisa Marie, named after his daughter … but he only got the Lisa Marie in 1976, so the year before his death. Sometimes he would have a vacation in Hawaii, his favourite place. He also did some concerts in Hawaii, & he did concerts in Canada, but not sure how many or when. He really wanted to do International concerts, but his manager wouldn’t allow him to, saying it was too much of a security risk, but that was just an excuse because the manager couldn’t travel outside of America.

If you go back to beginning years of Elvis’ career, & watch his open-air concert when he returned to his hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1955/56, when he was 20/21 years old & already a global superstar, you will see thousands of young people standing up. These 1970s Las Vegas concerts were held in the Showroom of the International Hilton Hotel & they were sit-down dinner shows (around tables). In 1970, when this concert took place, Elvis was already 35 years old, so no youngster anymore, but he had been doing Karate training for around a decade & had a Black Belt to 8th degree, so he was very flexible & supple. From around 1973, he was suffering from painful osteoarthritis, & no longer able to be this energetic, & of course he was 38 years old by then, & no longer as flexible. I have never really understood why people make such a big deal about acid having such an impact on this performance. Those who have actually dropped acid in this era (like me!) know that the first 2-3 hours into a trip is pretty mellow. No big hallucinations...at the peak of a 12-hour trip at 5 hours or so in, no way is anyone playing with any kind of dexterity (except in one's mind). Give credit where it is due...all of Santana's musicians are playing brilliantly not because of drugs but because of their talent and skill. This was my first time sitting in with you today, thank you for allowing me to do that! I enjoyed myself so I subscribed and left a big like for you. This was not only for MLK it was also for Robert Kennedy and for all of the death, signified by his red tie, in Vietnam. Robert Kennedy was also assassinated that year and, by the way George Floyd was no hero. He shouldn't be compared here to these great men! I disagree with how he was killed, but other than that he was not a good person!

Elvis did just the weekends double shows sometimes 3 shows UT not 7 days a week in Vegas correct me if I am wrong the only time he worked 5 or even 6 days a week was live tours.
