Have you watched Hazbin Hotel? If so what are your thoughts?
Hell for me would be not knowing I'm dead, my life looking the same at first, but everything getting slowly worse and worse. Everything that could go wrong go wrong. All the things I like taken away one after the other.
Paused the video at heaven can wait brb while I watch it
3:35 bro wtf was this music
Very specific, but I love the spoiler warnings in your videos. It's like viewing a menu and then getting to taste all of the options
What about the cosmic cat from Night in the Woods?
My personal favourite is the whole 2 seasons of made in abyss, it is a show that ilustrates really well a lot of concepts about hell, specially the fact that it's supose to be a place where you "choose" to go, because here hell is an actual physical place in the world that people willingly go to explore. Also this is a very wild, colorfull and varied hell, it's got every kind of suffering prepared for whoever goes there and whatever you get it's luck based. The sole point of the series seems to be finding the most originally horrible ways of torture it's characters as much as possible and it somehow always gets worse. This is the kind of show that without having much gore or typically gross stuff is able to traumatize you. The only bad thing is that the autor is probably a pedo and likes to show children with few clothing wich I absolutley hated but since this is trying to be a detailed depiction of hell and human suffering is far from the worse stuff that's in the show if you ask me. It also has one of the, if not the worst villain (in a good way of course) that i've seen, imo it's almost comparable to AM from I have no mouth and I must scream or griffith from berserk, that guy is seriously messed up.
Can't forget about Neil Gaimans take in the Dead Detective Boys where the people live through a moment in their life on repeat for an eternity.
Now I’ve got to read Blood Meridian again
my hell would be just me off my allergy meds, constantly itchy and easily irratable, sometimes gasping for air but it all being... just a miserable experience
What does not click with me on afterlife, death and stuff is the idea of eternity and nothingness. As long as I can remember I was living in this finite world as finite being and I can understand but can’t comprehend 0 or infinity.
Though people can speculate about Zahler’s politics, the films are still pretty great. And there is a difference between fixating on violence and portraying it a bit more honestly, which I think Zahler does. Bone Tomahawk is a horror movie with boots on. So the graphic end shouldn’t be a surprise in the era of Saw and Hostel sequels.
My favourite was an audio short I listened to on UA-cam. Can't recall the name of it sorry. But this guy was in hell. And hell was a bitterly cold wasteland of snow and ice where you could never get warm. And there was no food. So you were always freezing and starving. The protagonist stumbles across a cabin perched on the side of a cliff. This was to escape the monsters that roamed this freezing wasteland looking for the people to consume. So terror was added into it. If you were torn apart by these things, you simply woke up again in the cabin the next day.
If you haven’t seen it check out “Made In Abyss”
dont finish supernatural.
long walk
Can’t write minorities, can’t write women, cast Mel Gibson…hmmm hard pass
I didn't get past the eyeball scene in talk to me.. not because it was too scary, but because of the second hand embarrassment 😭 she got into a huge fight with her bestie over not letting her brother use the damn hand and as SOON as shes out of the room, everyone lets the brother go for it and it ends up,,, well, you know. I genuinely couldn't take it and I didn't want to see the scene where the older sister freaks out about what happened to her brother
this is my hell, work in the office
I saw talk to me when it first came out, and I'm traumatized
while not a depiction of hell exactly, the horror podcast the magnus archives has several depictions of peoples personal hells. most notably is the buried, an underground claustrophobic area where the earth constantly shifts and crushes the people trapped there
My personal hell would be a place so monotonous it could only be compared to an office or school, you go to a office for 8 hours, once you come home you are so drained that you have to go to bed immediately. at the office, the coworkers are needlessly rude, the management is condecending and dont help you when you ask. The food is there, but half hearted, bland, and almost unedible. You are there until you absolutely lose your mind, then for 1 hour its paradise with absolute freedom, delicious food, people are truly kind and helpful. but its only of 1 hour, the cycle repeats forever.
I can't believe you dont have ratatouille in your rats movie list. Also great video!!! 🐀🐀🐀
Having to write essays for all of eternity
Heaven? I think there was an Asian movie where heaven is living and reliving the happiest day in your life over and over forever (obviously, your memory is reset between lives). Also, I grew up in W TX, which town?
I would love to see a video of these about different depictions of Death/the Grim Reaper(Verna also counts for that i believe), or of the trickster myth as you mentioned in the god video
14:33 ratatouille
two whole videos about the best devils in fiction and not one mention of the Robot Devil in Futurama, he's always been a favorite character overall of mine
I am so happy I found this channel
"A new law has passed that prevents you from taking a dump on the mcdonalds reception counter" 0:00
I just watched the film after the title card video. I didn’t love the movie but, I appreciate its depth and writing quality. It was funny, has nice twists and good tone. The writing is great for the movie. I still really liked it and enjoyed watching it. It really is just not well known enough I suspect. Perhaps it could become a cult classic or something in the future? But I don’t know how much of a following the movie even has to be honest.
My favorie depiction of the devil is actually from a creepypasta story called "A favor for a a favor" by Vincent V.Cava He's actually so chaotic and funny but also cunningly manipulative, a bit like Lucifer from well... "Lucifer" witch is another of my favorite interpretations except in that series he's more of a "good guy"
Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade has a great rat horde.
Gotta have that one scene from Sorcerer's Apprentice
I genuinely believe that the Title Card is just calling him a kid. Abe, all these years has never grown up once, he's very hedonistic in a way, indulging in drugs, alcohol and still keeping up his detective charade. He's 32 and he's immature, stubborn, irresponsible and can't do a single thing by himself, even taking his free ice cream whenever he can. And now Abe's finally gotten what he wanted, he's a real detective now, he doesn't just handle kiddy cases, he solved a kidnapping and a murder in one go and his mind can't handle it at all. Not to say grown-ups just see a suicide and are fine after, but Abe, even in his way of crying, just feels so... childish... Not in a bad way mind you, I don't necessarily blame him for not growing up and it did end up solving a kidnapping and a murder, but yeah I think the title card is quite literally just calling him a man-child. But! I do think it's a pretty hopeful ending, he's probably crying for so many reasons but I genuinely believe he can come back from this and finally grow up into a real adult, both Gracie and Abe have been stuck as 14 year olds for pretty much half their lives, but now they're free of that. What chained Abe to childhood, Gracie's disappearance, is solved. Personally I've interpreted the movie's title in three ways: 1) The KID DETECTIVE - A literal kid who is a detective; 2) The KID Detective - A detective specifically for child-related cases; 3) The Kid Detective - A detective who only handles childish cases (a la "Did Hooper train with the Mets last year?). This one's more in a pretend sort of way. A Kid Detective like a detective who's kidding around, a pretend detective of sorts.
This whole reality is more like Hell than anything I could imagine. And I write horror stories
And they are dancing, the board floor slamming under the jackboots and the fiddlers grinning hideously over their canted pieces. Towering over them all is the judge and he is naked dancing, his small feet lively and quick and now in double time and bowing to the ladies, huge and pale and hairless, like an enormous infant. He never sleeps he says. He says that he will never die.

While I don’t think this is the best depiction of heaven/hell, I really like how the afterlife was portrayed in Good Omens since it’s from the angel’s/demon’s perspectives. Like, just the way that they all talk to each other like ex coworkers whose company split is a fun portrayal, and I love how it discusses the fact that none of the angels or demons chose to be demons or angels, and that they have to find their way as their own people. The way it’s shown breaks the barrier between heaven and hell and shows how quick it is to be labeled a sinner/saint even if you are an objectively good/bad person. Also I am just a huge sucker for the “heaven/hell is a bureaucracy” trope lol
heaven can wait is SOUL
the house the jack built has my favorite depiction
my favorite depiction of the devil is black doom from the snapcube shadow the hedgehog fandub
Bro needs to pick up a bible one time. But craziest moment for me was Tales From the Hood.
I like the 8.8" Desktop Monitor
I like the hell depiction of Hadestown being a pseudo-capitalist hellscape where all the souls are worked to the bone until they don’t know anything but building endless walls for nothing just for the entertainment of King Hades to try to impress Persephone with oil, artificial and blinding light, walls, etc.
No dogma? No Umbrella academy? okay. So you hate women? (This is a joke)
Brilliant overview but absolutely spineless commentary. Actually crazy that explicitly hateful left-wing films are given a pass but the mere scent of anything even vaguely right-of-centre immediately sounds alarms. Grow up.
Honestly the Death Note movie is a little bit overhated imo. It's not a good movie, don't get me wrong, but a lot of the stuff people rag on aren't bad ideas conceptually. I don't mind them having radically different takes on the core cast; most of them don't work, but I'll still take that over a string of worse recreations of iconic moments like most live action adaptations end up being. It's bad in an interesting way, and I find that way more compelling than tepid mediocrity.
