There'll be a more video essay style upload out before not too long (as was alluded to in my last community post), just got caught on this tangent & ended up committing to the bit! Appreciate y'all, hope everyone has a great weekend!
It’s probably just a good ad lib, but I’ve also always thought it could be a joke at the expense of Alex Rodriguez, who was famous for being good-looking and extremely vain about it, who played shortstop for Seattle through the 2000 season. Obviously this is a year later, and he had signed a record-shattering contract with the Texas Rangers in the previous offseason, so it’s unlikely the scout wouldn’t know he was in Texas now, but it kind of works as a joke about the scouts being out of touch and just evaluating amateur and minor league players based on vibes without even paying attention to what’s going on at the major league level
I watch this movie Is crazy because made Baseball interesting but at the same time the movie is so boring like there is a TONE where they talk with the same "attention" about ALL, if is important for the job of important because they are gonna get fired etc IS THE SAME there is no emotion feels so ROBOTIC which is crazy So is a movie i like the idea but the whole scenes makes me sleep because it feels more a documentary of baseball information than ACTUAL characters talking about something revelant for the "story" 😅 Imagine this movie is so meh to me i only remember 3 barely things/scenes The one with Starlord (i dont know the baseball player with family in his house) Brad Firing or talking with one player Brad Pitt mad after a lose Jonah Hill talking about . . . Numbers
Is the joke not just that the shortstop from the seattle mariners was attractive? That's how I always took it not that he thought someone was called Fabio
