Wheels on a Bike
Canada
Приєднався 31 гру 2020
Hello, I'm Agnieszka. Welcome to Wheels on a Bike. I'm a year-round bicycle commuter and I head out on bicycle tours in spring, summer, and early fall. I ride slowly and stop often. I like urban adventures, day trips, and self-supported tours. I rode across Canada in 2022 (an 8,300+ KM solo, self-supported journey).
I currently ride a touring bike (Kona Sutra Touring), a folding bike (Brompton C Line), and an ebike (Riese & Muller Nevo 3) - which is my main commuter.
Touring vlogs, urban commuting experiences, first impressions, product and cycling-related tech reviews, stories, and live streams. If you ride a bike, travel by bike, or live vicariously through others who do - consider subscribing and join the conversation!

The Hurricane Didn’t Stop Me: Bicycle Touring in Newfoundland | Cycling Across Canada, Ep. 28
This is the final video in the Cycling across Canada bicycle tour series. In this episode, I ride across the Island of Newfoundland. I arrive just before Hurricane/Tropical Storm Fiona hit the island, causing considerable damage in Port Aux Basques. As I ride across, I encounter unimaginable generosity and kindness. My arrival in St. John's leaves me emotional, as I marvel at the incredible milestone of riding solo, over 8300 km, across the beautiful country of Canada.

Enjoyed your series. Great accomplishment for you!
Thank you!
East coast hospitality. Best place in Canada
Agreed!
I think it's spooky how the stick isn't in the video. The effect is also a bit disorienting. I can see this used to freak people out! Very Cool.
The AI editor is a bit much with its transitions and movement, I agree, but I do love the camera and the shots I can get with it.
It’s cool how the 360 works.
It looks like crap beam pattern imo But maybe you had it aimed too low? Since amazon has a free return, i may try it on the single track spot i test all tne lights i receive.
I've been using this light consistently and it's the brightest one I own. I'm not sure about the beam pattern reference, but usability wise, the light is solid.
@@WheelsonaBike I seen a beam shot of it on Reddit and it had me intrigued . Your shot of it looked different. I typically buy , test and compare beam shots myself.. Ask for a good beam pattern Wider the better More width requires more lumens to compensate. It needs adequate throw , but again.. more the better fit for high speed situations. Beam should be diffused with no artifacts (black matter within beam)!and shouldn't have a hot spot Majority of beams are round with a centered hot spot, creating tunnel vision ( no peripheral illumination) and eye fatigue Sadly the kelvin range/hue is wrong on most lights too with a low CRI
Congratulations, a fantastic achievment.
Newfoundland wind is no joke. I bought an ebike because of the wind here. 😂
I live here and just realized I had no idea that Terry Fox statue exists and don't know where it is. 😂 Looks like it's tucked away in behind something at the end of the harbour. I'm going to have to go look for that this weekend. 😂
Yes! The wind and the hills are a nice packaged deal in Newfoundland.
Sometimes it takes a complete outsider to point things out. 😉 This statue is most likely best known by cyclists crossing Canada.
So good to see your finish! Great series…thanks for having us along for the ride!
I'm thrilled to have finally finished with the editing process. It only took 2 years... 🤦
could you tell me what pannier rack you are using, Im looking for a new one but they most are flared at the back I would rather a flat top. thanks
Both my racks are Surly.
Congratulations!!! Well done!!! We were waiting a long time for this episode!!! Unfortunately we did not make it to the coast this year, hopefully next year. Again, this episode will be helpful in planning the last part of our Cross-Canada Tour!!! Thanks so very! Peace and joy!
Hello we ve met in Témiscouata two years ago , I was impressed by your bicycle and your drive! It was my first bikepacking trip! Now I m hooked! Best Robert from Québec city
Congratulations seems like such a trivial thing to say to celebrate such an amazing accomplishment, but ... Congratulations!!!
Thank you! Sometimes words seem small, but hold a lot of meaning. I appreciate the comment.
Not many people can say - I RODE MY BIKE ACROSS CANADA! A lovely ending! 💕
Thank you!!! You're right. I'm very proud of this accomplishment. Also very happy to have finally completed the series.
Thanks for the video and the beautiful landscape. Looking forward to some videos from your Poland adventure. 😀
Thank you for watching. I'll be finishing up the Brompton adventure across the State of New York first and then I'll get to the Poland footage.
You should be very proud of this tremendous achievement. Well done. x
Thank you. This is one of those achievements that I'm unapologetically proud of.
I've been soooo looking forward to seeing a new episode of you... beautiful landscape and a wonderful tour...thanks for sharing those stunning views!
Thank you for watching and for the comment. Newfoundland was so beautiful to ride across. And I only scratched a surface.
Honest review. Well done. I purchased this trunk bag based on your review and I am very happy. Thanks.
I'm glad to hear that. Years later, I am still very happy with my purchase.
I paused the video to just say one thing. The love and generosity I have received from every Canadian, be it in Vancouver, Jasper, Canmore, Hope, Banff, Whistler and everywhere else I went last year for 6 weeks cannot be put in words. I say this again and again and again. And although Eddy’s expressed love and generosity to you during your trip in 2022, I felt the same emotions that overwhelmed me, when I was at the receiving end of similar expressions. Through this comment I wish to thank everyone whom I met and interacted with during my stay in Alberta and B.C. Will forever be grateful to them all. May they all be blessed. Agneiszka, I am following your channel since you did the cross Canada tour. Your videos helped me plan so much of my trip. A very personal thank you. Atb, That Travelling Guy….
Thank you for sharing your experience. This is so important to acknowledge as the media would have us think that people are unkind and fear inducing. The reality is different, as most people's generosity is surprising. And bike travelers often comment on the kindness experienced throughout their journey. I'm glad you had a positive experience in Canada!
Well we’ll we’ll, look who posted another video…👏👏👏😀 Congratulations on making it to the other side.
Yes! The series is finally finished. It took long enough. 😉 Thanks for watching.
Bravo 🙌 That is some extraordinary cycling and a very spectacular undertaking! Congratulations, on braving the elements and making so many new friends across Canada. Brilliant stuff!
Thank you. Working on these videos and watching them myself, makes me very nostalgic about the experience. I was lucky to had been able to do it.
Wow! So amazing to finally watch you get to the end of your journey across Canada! There were tornados, hurricanes, you were hit by a car, so many other struggles, but you made it! Congratulations again Agnieszka!!
Thank you, Josie. It was a trip full of adventures, that's for certain.
My hat goes off to you, you persevered and I admire that! You are one strong lady! Bravo! Amazing Ride! 💯 🥳 🥂
Thank you. The ride seems ages ago and sometimes it seems I didn't do it at all. The videos make it more real.
Awesome edit! (and ride too! LOL)
Thank you!
Your crossing Canada ending …. Great documenting the whole trip, every day…. Rain or shine …head or tail wind…. Congratulations !!!… on such great editing …AND coincidently Joanne and I are in our third day of our Loire river bicycle tour ( it’s chateaux & wines…) …. Again ….Super videos…..
Enjoy your trip! I'm sure the views are magnificent. Please share photos when you can.
🤠👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️ Merci beaucoup .💐
What a nice surprise to see this in my feed today! It's a great ending to your series, and the trip was incredible. Thank you for being an inspiration. At 70, I might not be up for a full cross-country, but I would like to head up from my home in NJ to do a full tour around the maritimes. Good luck in your future adventures, and again, thank you for sharing this one with us.
Thank you very much for the comment and for watching. I think it's good to be realistic about what we can take on. It's better to do that, than get injured or not enjoy the trip.
Finally 😎😊
I know... It took a while.
@@WheelsonaBike it's ok. Glad you're fine 😊
"But it doesn't end with Dildo" - Agnieszka
🤣😂🤣
@@WheelsonaBike Truer words have never been spoken
If I'm ever near Eddy's spending all my money there and saying that biker woman sent me
Hahahaha! That was a one of a kind experience.
@@WheelsonaBike Here's the thing I watched all of these so I don't know if that's true. I was constantly shocked at the hospitality you found along the way
WELCOME BACK! And I love this series
Thank you. It took a while to get this one out. But now... Onto the next one.
Amazing journey !! Thank you for the videos
Thank you for watching.
6K subs a testament to your storytelling abilities. Great work.
Awesome! I've seen several across the US but you are the first across Canada I've watched. 🎉 Happy for you! 🎉
Thank you for watching. Glad you followed along!
Congrats on completing your ride!
Thank you. It was amazing to relive those memories of finishing that tour.
Outstanding! Respect! Keep it up. 😀
Thank you.
Love watching your adventures.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
Great review! Thank you so much for your thorough review. This helps a lot!
Glad to know it helped.
Did my heart good to watch your video. Was living vicariously through it because I covered those very roads in September of 2023. Happy trails from Fort Kent, Maine.
Thank you for watching! I know the feeling. I love seeing others rode the places I've been. It's a nice experience to relive it all. Hope you had a great time on your adventure.
Thank you for sharing. I’m trying to plan my adventure back to the east coast.
I don't have a cargo bike, but a normal Amslod (Dutch brand bike) with a child seat in front for my grandson. Sometimes a windshield in front, but usually not. My grandson is not made of sugar. Right? He loves riding in front of grandpa on the bike. And he just points at what he sees. So much fun! Helmets? No, we don't do that here :-) Helmets are for the elderly (who wear such a thing a few times then realize it's nonsense) and tourists :-)
Hello! Didn't really understand about click-stand you sad.. is it part of something?
No, it's a separate stand for the bike. It used to be full size for my touring bike, but due to my error, one part broke, so I removed it. As a result, the stand now fits perfectly for the Brompton.
Where i can buy it?
@@TheValkoooo They are custom made and you can order online www.click-stand.com/
OK. Thanks
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽absolutely necessary!!
the handlebar mitts are absolutely adorable. Never seen something like that before. Amazing to keep your finders alive during cold weather. Most gloves never really block the freezing wind.
Love from India ❤
I like the trailer its a good design, I shop for two people and cook a lot so the trailer looks a little small for me and the price is a little high,, thanks for the video
Take it on to Paris and Cambridge......a great ride!
Hello ❤ I’m a student I’m doing a class project I would like to ask your permission to use your videos I’d be sincerely appriciate it. Thank you.❤
Thank you for getting in touch and I'm honoured you're thinking of using the videos. Can you email me with information as to how you're going to use the videos? Will you be downloading them or just embedding them in a blog? And which videos specifically? Email's in my profile.
This is why I rarely leave my ebike locked outside. It’s so much hassle to lock so many different parts of it.
Is there a part 2?
There will be.
New channel? Kayakonwater? 😅
🤣😂🤣
