Wow, what an incredible adventure! As a cyclist from Switzerland, I have always been drawn to the thrill of exploration and the beauty of the open road. This video captures that sense of adventure and excitement perfectly, with its stunning views, wild encounters, and unexpected challenges. Cycling across Canada is no small feat, and this video showcases the best and worst of what such a journey can entail. It is a testament to the resilience, determination, and spirit of adventure that lies within all of us. As cyclists, we know that the journey is just as important as the destination, and this video is a perfect example of that. It reminds us of the power of nature, the importance of perseverance, and the joys of exploration. Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or simply someone who loves adventure, this video is sure to inspire you to hit the road and see what lies beyond the horizon.
Thank you for this thoughtful comment. You are right, the journey is more powerful than the destination and yes to us all having the spirit of adventure within us. This is sometimes dormant and our fears keep it that way, but the moment that spirit is set free - the potential is unlimited.
Nice to see my home province, even if just for a day. Seems Manitoba treated you well. Woodcock is definitely one of the best bike shops in the city, so good for checking them out! Next time go get some perogies at Alicia's, or falafel from Ami's!
Manitoba was a lot better than Saskatchewan, and I was able to rest a bit more while riding through the province. Thanks for the suggestions of place to eat - next time!
Wow Agnieszka! What an awesome video! Great work with the Bear spray for the Raccoon! The little bugger earned it! Did you know that the Germans call the "Wash Bears"? So the spray was appropriate! Love the Bumping Up & down song! I'll sing it to my Sutra!
Thank you! I really tried to get the raccoon to let go of the pannier different ways, but it wouldn't budge. They can get very aggressive, so I sprayed it. In the process inhaled some as well. 🤣 Did not know about in German they're referred to as Wash Bears. Yes, I'd get very creative with made up songs throughout the journey. Singing was better than getting angry.
It was great to watch another cyclyist travel through Manitoba! Other than the 20 km section of gravel shoulder on #16 by Binscarth the rest of the shoulder is paved. # 5 is so bad, but the traffic is light. At Grand Beach, Mb campground we were tond not to put anything that smelled in our tent. We suspended our food pannier in a tree because of all the bears! Loved your footage of Neepawa, St. Claude and Winnipeg (forks). I also love the ride from Winnipeg to the Ontario border. PS. July is the worst month for the mosquitoes and their massive families in Manitoba!
Yes, I enjoy your videos of the same passage as well. I was told by staff at the provincial park not to worry about animals. I asked multiple times and they told me there's I should do. I listened to that bad advice and learned an important lesson.
@@WheelsonaBike my goodness!!! Spruce Woods Provincial Park is like a desert with very few animals, but obviously you had an meeting with two! We really enjoyed your footage and will watch it again later tonight or tomorrow! It was awesome to see the same road from another rider. I assume your last night in Manitoba was at the campground by Prawda? And I assume you made it to Kenora, On the next day? I can't wait for your footage of NW ON!!!
Yes! I missed them in Saskatchewan, so I got my fill in Manitoba. They were stunning in person. And the scent! It was a beautiful experience riding through the fields.
There is no shortage of mosquitos in the prairies, I like the choice of music (guitar). the Roads seem to be worse than the previous province, but the wind seems to be on your side this time.
Yes, and this was a good indication of things to come in terms of insects. It only got worse in Noethern Ontario. The wind was not as bad as in Saskatchewan, but I had my fair share of headwind in Manitoba as well. I just didn't focus on it. The roads were actually worse in Saskatchewan, much worse. But Manitoba takes a close second. I'm glad you liked the music!
I live near Carberry! I feel I have to apologize for highway 5. It is one of the worst paved roads out there. At least Spruce Woods provincial park is nice. Love the videos, thank you!
It's such a beautiful area, but the highway was atrocious. I had multiple clips complaining about how bad it was. I cut them out. 🤣 Spruce Woods PP was beautiful. In hindsight, I should have stayed another day/nighy. Thank you for watching.
Probably a little late now, but, Big Agnes Tiger Wall Bikepacking Tent. I’ve had nothing but a great experience with it! Shorter poles, fantastic water tightness(NO leaking) and excellent customer service over the last year. Best tent I’ve had in years of both backpacking and bikepacking. Good luck on your travels, Chuck H.
I did not. It was a brand new tent and it shouldn't had leaked. I ended up returning it after multiple efforts by Sea to Summit to send me a replacement fly which wouldn't leak.
I had racoons steal food from my porch on the Pacific coast. Not a nice experience. I regularly stashed my food pannnier in campsite bathrooms when cycling across Canada. I asked campsite staff where to safely store my food and there suggestion was usually to store it in my car 😅
Yes! I had the same experience. Put it in your car. Uhm... Interestingly, I had a long conversation with staff at this Campground about my food. They told me there are no animals here to worry about. I listened to that advice and learned an important lesson. ALWAYS keep food away from the tent, regardless of what Campground staff say.

You are so entertaining! I was born and raised in Winnipeg so it was fun seeing you riding around town there. Another great episode Agnieszka!
It's such a beautiful city! I really enjoyed my time there and as with all places I enjoyed, I wish I had stayed longer.

@@WheelsonaBike generally speaking there are fewer animals in this park. I am surprised it was a raccoon. Looking forward to the rest of the trip!
And after the raccoon ran away, I spotted a skunk behind my tent. I laughed, and moved away as I didn't want to be sprayed as well!

that's impressive and inspiring, I'll start doing the same touring soon, thanks a lot for awesome videos
Thanks for watching and happy trails!
Omg those fields are so bright, yeah epic views great ride!

Wildlife adventures with mosquitoes and raccoons. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle all those big hills in Ontario.
The never ending hills of Northern Ontario were mentally challenging. 😉

Did you see the fire hydrant in Elm Creek? You should have been able to see it from the highway.
No, I didn't! I missed the fire hydrant?! That would've been a good one.

Haha. Atrocious is completely accurate! It’s bad enough in a vehicle, not to mention a bike.
I thought a lot about a suspension seat post and stem during that ride.
Better hold onto the bike TIGHT if you ever hit winnipeg 😂
I did. Didn't run into any problems while there.
Mosquitoes are the worst
They are. And they seem to LOVE me.

Thank you for the recommendation. I ended up returning the leaky tent and bought the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL Bikepacking tent. No more leaking!
@@WheelsonaBike Great decision! All the best on future travels. Look forward to new adventure videos😊
Agreed! I should've gone with Big Agnes right away.
Did you try a wax coating for your tent?
I did not. It was a brand new tent and it shouldn't had leaked. I ended up returning it after multiple efforts by Sea to Summit to send me a replacement fly which wouldn't leak.
What is the furthest north you can travel by bike in Canada ? 🇨🇦 😮
People cycle all the way into the Yukon.
@@WheelsonaBike Thank you. That would be an adventure.
Yes it would.
