I was in the badlands in 1996, and had it to myself. Looks like it’s got busier since then. Bentonite clay is astonishingly slippery when wet. We parked our work truck on dry clay and hiked away to do our surveys. We had a sprinkle of rain as we worked, not even enough to make us stop and put on rain gear. Got back to truck, tried to drive, and found we were stuck. Four-wheel drive and all four wheels just spun in place. Couldn’t even rock the vehicle. We tried all the tricks (carpet under the tires, wood, levering, etc). Eventually our tires sunk in and we had to walk out to ask a road crew if they could use their grader to pull us out. We weren’t the first ones that week that they’d rescued.
It was very busy the day I was there. What I didn't show is a bus load of people that pulled up as I was there. The bus also kept idling, which was very annoying. Thank you for sharing that experience with bentonite clay! There were signs all over the trail to watch out for slippery patches and I found them to be on the excessive side, but seems like there's a good reason for the numerous reminders.
Another awesome video Agnieszka! Love the vignettes like the market interview! Really appreciated the Hoodoos! Super production! Love the views! Thank you so much for all the labour editing!!
Bonjour ! Merci 💙 énormément de nous partagé ces merveilleux vidéos et de vos allocutions fabuleuse et votre enthousiasme joyeuse. Bonne continuité. Bonne route 🚲
Thank you! We can't see it all, can we? I would highly, highly recommend Drumheller and areas. Also N2L stayed at the Dinosaur Provincial Park and that looked beautiful as well. I'd want to visit there.
Wow, thanks for yet another cracking and informative episode! Never heard of those hoodoo before, awesome. Btw, I feel good now knowing there is someone ou there lagging even more bringing out vids than me. I'm in August at least😂
from what I see, Alberta and Saskatchewan are mostly flat and windy. Drumheller looks like a great place to camp, I like those little stores with local products.
So Alberta has serious mountains, that's where the Rockies are. But part of Alberta is prairies. And to dispel those flat myths, the prairies are not flat. They're not mountains, but there's definitely climbing in the prairies.
The insta 360 did a great job of capturing the "Hoodoos." We stayed at the same campground in Irricana and were told to visit Horseshoe Canyon, but took a pass on that advice. Glad you went and captured some amazing footage to share with us!
No, they didn't. The arm sleeves are designed specifically for sun protection and they have a cooling effect when moving. The socks are sports compression ones and they are quite light. Even though it looks like I would be warm, as I'm all covered up, I was very comfortable.

Cool adventure - what a beautiful trip, and super interesting geology! Thanks for taking us along!

Absolutely love this video. What a beautiful spot. We sometimes don’t know how much Canada has to offer.
Yes! Canada is a huge country with so much unexpected beauty.

Amazing ride and great content. Thank you!!!
Another wonderful episode! The badlands were so beautiful!! We definitely have to go back that way and see more of what we missed.

Great piece, great job. Your post-production editing keep on getting more robust too. Looking forward, as always, to the next posting.
Thank you. Video editing is always a learning experience for me.
@@WheelsonaBike old expression, "always striving upwards" - sort of a good saying for touring, too, i guess.
this might be my favorite episode yet
That's great to hear. Thank you.
beautiful places to 🚴♂🚴♂🚴♂
Aside from the Icefields Parkway, the Badlands were by far my favourite place to ride through.

Oh yes, I'm very much behind with these videos.
@@WheelsonaBike well, let's see if you can top hoodoo. At your own time of course, just quickly 😂
What fabulous places!
Agreed!

That is so AMAZING! This landscape is so beautiful! I envy you!
It was beautiful, wasn't it? It's incredible to know that this, too, is Canada.

@@WheelsonaBike indeed!
I'm thinking of making the bike ride from Drum to Downtown Calgary next year! It'll be my first long bike ride!
Enjoy it! It'll be a great ride.
Nice
Thank you.
How awesome I did basically this same ride in 2022 also awesome
When did you ride? I was there in June 2022.
What a wonderful part of Canada! Did your long socks and arm protectors make you feel too warm? Are they specifically for sun protection?

This guy cycled across Canada

Yes, I know he did. He was on the road at the same time I was, but took a very different route and stayed more on the Trans Canada Trail.
Amazing ride and great content. Thank you!
