That's a beautiful bike and a great review! I didn't know you can rent them for a day or two. Definitely going to check that out! Thanks for sharing this with us. 😀
Yes, it's a beauty and such a well made bike. And yes, you can rent them. Sometimes local bike shops offer day rentals as well, which is perfect for trying things out, or using the bike for a specific task.
I tested a lot of cargo bikes. Babboe, Rise & Miller, Cube, Gazelle, Lovens, ... . And this bike, dispite having no front suspension or cable steering, is by far the most nimble and stable to handle. Especially the models after 2023 where they changed the steering rod/bar which connects the front wheel with your handlebars.
Your next bike try, a recumbent E-bike, or a traditional E-trike. I think that cargo bike is very cool. Have thought about getting a cargo bike, but I do lean more towards a traditional E-trike for cargo stuff. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️
If love to get a recumbent bike. They look very fun to ride. I'd also like a cargo bike, but I really have no use for it, and when I do, I can rent it. So many bikes...
Nice I think having the little one(s) sitting up front is better for both the parent and the kid, the kids get a better view and you can see and talk to them. They probably feel safer and more relaxed surrounded by the box and being belted in along with that cover compared to being in a child seat on the back of a regular bike or being in a trailer.
I think so as well, but sometimes it's also about function and space. We typically see more long tail cargo bikes in Canada, front loaders are less popular. I wonder why this is, but maybe will change as people explore other options.
Also, having the cargo compartment in front usually lowers the center of gravity, making the bike handling smoother. Seats on the rear of a bike tend to be above the rear wheel. Seats in the front of a cargo bike dip below the top of both wheels, so you get a less-tipsy ride and better, safer handling. How was the raincover as a windbreak? It looks like it was used in cold weather...
Great points re: centre of gravity. The raincover worked great as a windbreaker. It's winter here and while my young passenger was dressed for the weather, he didn't complain about the wind, which would've probably been terrible had we not used the cover.
Great video! I am a new subscriber and was going through your videos of your trip across Canada. Did you post videos of your trip through Nova Scotia and Newfoundland? I didnt find them.
Welcome and thank you for watching. No, I have not published those videos yet. Am working on a Maritimes video right now. I'm very behind, but the end to the series is near!
Yes, I do have a cargo-bike. It's a Larry Vs. Harry Bullitt ( no e-assist). It, too, is a long-John design with the cargo-area in the front. Just love it. Absolutely the best I've ever owned. My kids are all grown, so I don't haul them in it. I use it for running errands and just for fun and exercise. As a 60yr old, I feel super safe on it. This was fun video to watch. I know Robin very well. She's a super person. Thank you and your young son for sharing your experiences. Tim (Toronto, Canada)
It's excellent to know someone in Toronto rides a cargo bike. They are still few and far between, but I do see more and more of them on my morning commute. School runs. And what a small world in you knowing Robin. I met her at a bike advocacy event before I knew she had this rental company. She's a great person! The little man is my nephew. 😉
I don't have a cargo bike, but a normal Amslod (Dutch brand bike) with a child seat in front for my grandson. Sometimes a windshield in front, but usually not. My grandson is not made of sugar. Right? He loves riding in front of grandpa on the bike. And he just points at what he sees. So much fun! Helmets? No, we don't do that here :-) Helmets are for the elderly (who wear such a thing a few times then realize it's nonsense) and tourists :-)
Ah... I'm not sure it'd be good for touring. You could load a lot on it, but it's a very heavy bike to begin with... Also, turning radius, something I didn't address in the video, but because it's long, you need a lot of space to do a u turn.
Wow I never knew about a service like this. Me and my brother commute to highschool everyday and have never used e bikes, but have always thought about trying a cargo bike where one of us operates and one relaxes. We have especially thought about this when we climb the multiple hills on our commute home 😂 I might consider this service to try the cargo bike you rented to see how it is and how fun it is, especially for someone like me who is only a teenager
Yes, it'd be a great solution for school commutes, provided one of you is at last 16 years old (legal age for operating an ebike in Ontario). Happy Fiets has a nice fleet of bikes to choose from. It's a great service as these types of bikes are difficult to source otherwise. Another option is to rent one from a store that sells them.
There is an organization Cycling Without Age from Denmark ( or Netherlands) that have a 2passenger bike, 3 with pilot. I soo sooooo want to get one and bring it to the U.S.!!! It’s called the Christiano The Org’s only purpose is to provide FREE rides for the elderly/ shut ins. I keep hoping that some American manufacturer will take up the gauntlet and produce one here
Yes, I've heard of something similar. We have one just outside of the city and they work with seniors in long term care homes. Take them out for rides on a bike. It's a fabulous program! I hope you can bring it to your city!
It's brilliant. I'm a cycling volunteer with NL "Fietsmaatje" that offers touring to people who would not be able to cycle otherwise. We use those side bysides.
If you love this, in terms of hauling lengthy/weighty stuff, you are gonna love the Cargo, Family Cargo, and maybe even Tender models. Length chart: Family: 258 Family Cargo: 263 Cargo L: 274 Cargo XL: 294 Cargo XXL: 334 Tender 1500: 271 Tender 2500 291
I would suggest parking the bike indoors if possible, and still locked. Some people do park this bike outside, but take out the battery and take off the screen. Use multiple locks and use a bike cover to cover the bike from prying eyes. Personally, I don't leave my bike locked outside for long and without having a visual on it. I also use multiple locks, three at the least. There are a lot of busy fingers in Toronto.
@@WheelsonaBike we have been looking into ebike options for a.long time and have not settled on brand or style. So all the reviews on the options are always good!
@@WheelsonaBike I like the concept of the belt drive and I really like the DOST ebike with the cvt. The one thing I don't like about the Dost is the cost. For now we are still able to bike without the assistance, however there will come a time when the pedal assist will be beneficial.
That depends on what you consider small. I think the fold is more a medium sized package. You can see the fold in this video ua-cam.com/video/Q96JQNrnkcA/v-deo.htmlsi=TGvSW_vKwJ0H0Tk9
@@WheelsonaBike oh hey that's not bad at all, certainly 'small' in my book. Someone in some forum somewhere criticized the UA for the rain cover not folding compared to Reise Mueller's. Maybe I misread that though
@TheSpaceBrosShow I think people have different perceptions of sizes. What is small? Does the R&M cover fold smaller? Maybe it does. No idea. I think the UA cover is small enough to fit in the bucket when not in use.
@@WheelsonaBike Oh that's perfect. Being able to fold it down for storage and taken w/ me on a questionable weather day are the two main concerns I have. Thanks for answering my question!
I'm 5'4". I did have the saddle raised, so you could lower it and the bike would fit. You'd need to adjust the handlebars as well, but they are adjustable. Look at cargobikemomma on Instagram. I think she's under 5' and she rides one of these with her kids.

Really enjoyable review. If your passenger fell asleep during the ride, that's the clincher. A really big thanks.
The little guy falling asleep was all I needed to know about how comfortable he was. Thanks for watching.

Cool cargo bike with a cover ❤❤❤

Nice review. The bike looks so space age, like something out of Star Trek.
It's certainly unique and it was a show stopper when I had it parked. People were very curious about it.

I find that my Ebike starts off better with slow throttle rather than pedaling to start.. maybe this one too especially since heavier
The Urban Arrow doesn't have a throttle, so one way around that is to increase e-assist at the start. That worked well for me.

Yeah! Wipers would be good - keep the view clear for the passenger.
