@WheelsonaBike I use vecro on the back of the lights and it works well on any surface, including all kinds of bags. Use the patch kit version, not the strap on type. Give it a shot, there are no cons to velcro patches.
@WheelsonaBike first, i want to compliment you on this excellent and thorough review of these 2 lights. It was well done and it helped me make purchase decision. Also, I appreciate your excellent response to my suggestion. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you fellow biker friend :)
The accelerometer on the rear light to detect braking sounds super useful. I wish you had talked a little more about that. E.g. can you set the light to only turn on when you are braking? That could be particularly useful during day time. I have always-on lights powered by a dynamo hub, but have considered adding rechargeable pulsing lights for extra viz, and having a rear light that turns on while braking sounds particularly useful.
Thank you for this feedback. There's nothing else I could've said about the braking functionality as there is no way to modify it, turn it on, adjust it. The light has 6 modes, that's all. The smart braking functionality is an automatic add on. Maybe @Reelight can comment more?
You can actually choose between three different brake modes: constant, strobe and off. However there is no way to have it enabled while the light is off. Maybe in a future update :)
Good review and timing! After 15+ years, my rear light just gave up the ghost (pardon the Halloween pun). We are looking at replacing and perhaps upgrading our lights, we will look into this option. Always good information here thanks!
Wicked videos . Awesome to see your still riding up to this day (christmas) thats wild.. How does riding a Brompton compare to the touring bike.?? I'm thinking of getting a Brompton
I ride year round, and adjust my clothing and some gear accordingly. But at this point, it's all just part of my 'normal'. The Brompton is very different to ride. I'm much slower on it, and it's a lot more responsive. When loaded, it rides like a dream and the low centre of gravity, coupled with the front luggage block being mounted on the frame as opposed to handlebars or the stem, make the bike very solid. I really like riding my Brompton. It's a fun bike to ride.
Awwwww, that racoon seemed very cute and friendly. Ok, I'm Irish and we don't have racoons here despite Disney including them in several movies set on this side of the pond because they are more familiar to a north American audience and perhaps there's a dark side to these cute little critters I'm not immediately appreciating? (Actually the Imperial march / Darth Vader's theme is playing in my mind just now appropriately or not?) I believe they will eat anything and chew through almost anything too? As for the lights, well I'm a natural cheapskate so I like to know how much bang I'm getting for my buck. Just checked the Reelight site and €40. I don't doubt their quality and durability. Good highly visible lights FRONT AND REAR are essential for both night time AND day time cycling safety in my opinion especially if you have no separation from traffic. I have a box full of assorted bright front and rear flashers and when I saw the difference in visibility 150-200 lumens makes compared to 30-50 lumens, I upgraded all of my old lights. I am a member of that much maligned (often justifiably) sub species, the White Van Driver and mostly for long night shifts. It frustrates and infuriates me not just the large numbers of reckless and oblivious suicide jockeys on bikes and e-scooters with either no lights at all but also really bad lights that are almost useless. The numbers of near misses I have with idiots on bikes appearing out nowhere in the darkness or against concealing bright lighting behind them is beyond accounting for after all these years. And the occasional non miss too unfortunately. A few words of advice to all cyclists: If you are cycling at night and a driver stops at a junction looking directly at you, DO NOT always assume they see you. There are so many different reasons why they could be looking right past you until you appear out of nowhere as they move forward. That's why I go completely to the opposite extreme and go that extra four yards for safety when two would be more than sufficient for most people. I'm lit up like a Christmas tree. If I do get hit by another WVD, it won't be because they couldn't see me. Day and night. So to finish, if you are going to be riding on completely non segregated roads particularly in darkness and these dull winter days, do everything you can to make sure you can't help but be seen by every driver all of the time. Stay safe out there people!
Raccoons are very cute, but they can get very aggressive. Also, they'll do anything for food, including opening garbage bins. They are the bane of our existence in Toronto. This one was very healthy looking and based on its behaviour, it looked quite comfortable with people. Most likely, it had been fed by people before. A big no no, but people do it anyway, because ... they're so cute. I completely understand your comment as I have experienced the same. I also compare myself to a lit up Christmas tree, especially in late fall and winter. I put out "all the lights", but like you, I always see cyclists ride in the dark without any lights, this is dangerous on so many accounts, but ... people are people, regardless of which vehicle they decide to use.
Bummer there isn't retailer or bike shop in the GTA that carries Reelights. I picked up a few of their magnet dynamo lights back when I was in Denmark a few years ago and they've been solid ever since!
There's a shop in Hamilton that is listed as carrying the lights. But that's a bit out of the way. You're right about the quality of their lights. I have the contactless Nova lights on my touring bike, and they've been excellent since I bought them.
The ‘push in’ grip mounting didn’t look great. Do the magnets assist with holding the light in place? Might have missed it, but I also didn’t understand what the hex key was for?
No, the magnets do not assist with holding the light in place, unless you are sticking the light on a fridge or another metallic surface. The hex key helps mount the bracket. Thete is one small screw that uses the hex key.
Hello from Ontario, Do you still own your Kona Sutra? I'm looking into purchasing a Sutra SE in St Catharines, On. What's your opinion overall, good bike for the money? Thank you , safe riding.
Thank you :)) Hey... I watched your accident video and super happy you're ok. That's very scary especially on those narrow roads and high speeds. As for the bike I'll check out the sizing in person this week and possibly go for it :) looks like the best bang for the buck, though it seems a little over priced like everything else these days. Happy and safe cycling, thanks for replying. PS... have you cycled along the ship canal path here in St Catharines? It takes you from lake Ont. to Lake Erie, great ride and not very busy either, plus it's close to you as far as driving goes. I believe you said you're from Toronto where I grew up. Symington and doupont. :) Have an awesome day and safe riding, watch out for them raccoons ;). @@WheelsonaBike
Very exciting to know you can test ride the bike to determine the best fit before you buy the bike. Is the ship Canal you mention, the Welland Canal? If so, yes, I've ridden the Welland Canal as part of a short tour along the shores of Lake Erie. If it's a different one, then no, I have not ridden it.
Obejrzałam film i cały czas miałam bardzo dziwne wrażenie, ze w końcu rozumiem w 100% angielski. Spojrzałam w opis kanału, a tam Agnieszka. Jesteś Polką?
Respect for enjoying biking in all weathers!
I would love to see Garmin put some of these nice design touches into their Varia radar.
Thank you. I ride year round, so this is just "status quo" for me.

Thanks for the great review Agniezka, they look like a good product. Cheers
Thank you for watching, Dean. I appreciate the comment.

You got 15+ years from the light, that's incredible! Happy Halloween!
Bonjour . Merci pour la présentation . 👍🤠
Thank you as well!
Really nice that they're pretty bright eh. Like you said though... too bad about the proprietary mounting solution. :(
Agreed! Thank you for watching.
Maybe the racoon wanted to go for a ride, or was interested in the lights for his den....😂 I like those lights. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️
Yes, that raccoon was WAY too friendly. It must have liked the lights.

Tak, jestem Polką ale mieszkam w Kanadzie już od długiego czasu.
I like your side lights, more people should also be doing that...i do...
Can you charge lights with relight generator???
I'm not sure what a Reelight generator is, but these lights are charged with a USB C cable.
Great review
Thank you.
Thanks great job god bless
Thank you.
use velcrose strips to attach
I could, but then I'd cover a big part of the light.
Good review,
Thank you.
What helmet do you have here?
It's the Lumos Ultra. If you're interested in buying it, please consider using my affiliate link ridelumos.com/wheelsonabike.
