    thanks. just want I needed for my 2014 STX 2.0T that I replaced the front calipers on a min ago. Did not do this on the first side and it was instant "Mush" pedal. ALWAYS top off the reservoir before bleeding. I top mine up & will bleed it down to the Max line. GG

    No need to remove the motor, just turn the piston clockwise until it stop turning (don't force it) and then push back on the piston to finish it.

    Great video!!!! One question, when you place the motor back on the caliper, do you have to rotate the 5mm bolt/pin to get the motor to align correctly when you reassemble?

    I have replaced both actuators and just had this towed as it got stuck in the on position after replacing the brakes and both actuators as it got stuck previously too. I now have the the wires disconnected, but anyone have info into what happened during the brake change months ago? And what I should replace?

    • @jayhamilton-x4y

      @@danthebrakeman no it's the parking brake. I have wound them back and disconnected the wiring for the ebrake. My thought is that I need a stronger scan tool than my $140 one to reset it?

    • @FC3_RIPPER
      @FC3_RIPPER Місяць тому

      8:11 Also did you slightly losen or tighten to adjust the spline drive here? That confused me because you said to FULLY twist it until it stops so if you did that shouldnt it just slide right on? Or you may have to slightly turn it a little less than 100%?

      The compression mechanism inside the caliper has to be reset back into factory position in order to compress the piston in the caliper.

    This video is an EXTREME help!! I wish i had seen this video when i did mine. Im hoping someone can help me here, i had manually spun the piston back into position... I am now getting a "Parking Break Malfunction" i am curious to if i had damaged the motor inside? Or if i am able to take apart my brakes, follow the steps in the video and then properly use my e-brake? Any insight would be helpful here as the toyota dealership will just advise me to replace the motor.

    • @danthebrakeman
      @danthebrakeman 14 днів тому

      You could have damaged the motor by spinning it in the wrong direction, but it’s hard to tell without inspecting it.

    • @danthebrakeman
      @danthebrakeman 29 днів тому

      Because the mechanism inside of the caliper needs be fully retracted back to allow the piston to push in

      The parking brake will engage when the car is off. You will have to put the car is ACC mode, release the parking brake, then compress the caliper. When you done you have to re-engage parking brake to reset.

    What's your rear lifting point on the palisade?

    • @odinsethfrederick
      @odinsethfrederick 14 днів тому

      There’s a small notch on the frame forward of the wheel on the edge of the vehicle that perfectly matches the notched cutout on the included jack stand within the trunk compartment on the palisade. If your jack is more than half way under your palisade you’ve missed it.

    Once again, excellent and simply presented, thanks. I too have never dealt with EPB's but your method certainly works. If I may make one suggestion, one thing I've always done, even before stainless pad clips were invented, is anti-seize the slot and surfaces contacting the stainless clips to the caliper bracket. You virtually eliminate the rust building up between the 2 surfaces and when it's time to change the pads they're more evenly worn and thus longer pad life as a result. Been doing this driveway brake tip for almost 50 years! Again, thank you!
