I’m a 49 yr old female and thanks to you I was able to do this all by myself! I’m super proud of myself! Thank you sooooo much!
Way to go!! 👊💪
😮😮😮😮 great job
You go girl
😊
Well done🎉
Awesome! Any issues with warning lights or brake lights after doing them?
My man, you’re the only person who make this easy. Have to go all around UA-cam trying to find the best, fast n easy way to do the exact work you’re doing.
You make my day. Thanks so much👍👍👍
Glad it helped!
Excellent example of how a DIY tutorial should be made. Very clear and straightforward directions with quality lighting and sound. Thank you!!!
Literally made this account to say how much easier this made things for me, no advertisement no bullshit this guy is the man
Glad it helped!
The hardest part of this job for me was the darn electronic brake connector. I couldn't get it off to save my life. very clear and informative video , thank you.
After watching several videos, yours is hands down the best. Thanks for taking the time and explaining how to handle the electric rear brake!
I always thought there was more to those electronic E-Brake sensor setups. That's a lot easier than i was picturing. Thanks for the clear video on it, really helpful.
Thanks to this vid it saved my rear rotors from being shredded to bits. Thanks for the clear and easy instructions 👍 you’re awesome man
Glad it helped
You are appreciated bro! I’ve had 5 civics, none w/ EBS. HUGE HELP.
Great video. showed me what to expect, what tools I would need and how to do it. made this very easy on me and gave me confidence to do it myself. completed in less than an hour. (pads and rotors)
Can't thank you enough for this video, changed the rear pads and rotors on my '17 civic no problem following your instructions 👍
Thank goodness I found this tutorial before I replaced my mk 10 (UK) rear brake pads - other videos didn't include the EPB retraction process, without which damage will clearly occur. Nice one Daniel!
Glad it helped
Thanks for this video! I'm so used to the older vehicles where this is an easy job and I've been sitting out in the cold for 2 hours before finding this video and immediately getting it done after finding it
Glad it helped!
I'm not even done with the video and I'm already applauding you! Great video, awesome detail explanation.. I really appreciate you for this
Glad it was helpful!
Worked on a lot of motor stuff but never trusted myself with brakes, until this video. Thanks again seriously! Follow his advice guys and gals and it will go smoothly!
your video was the only that actually showed what needed to be done. I just spent 3 hours and $65 dollars trying to replace the rear breaks on my civic
great video. didn't know the car had an electric parking brake until I took it apart. Thanks, it was very helpful.
Just did rear pads and rotors on my friend's 19 Civic. Parking brake procedure Worked as you said thank you.
Doing the same on my '19 Civic next week. Seems pretty simple.
Thanks so much you are the only one that shows exactly what I’m looking for to get my job. Done awesome work.
Thank you, this was exactly what I needed, no bs and easy to understand. It saved me a lot of trouble and money!! Cheers to great how-to!
🍻
Very Clear and Easy to Understand instructions. Thank You Very much for posting this!
Pal thank you so much for your video. I was able to replaced my rear brakes today. I was really looking how to do it without spending all that money on a scanner to reset the EPB. ❤
Outstanding tutorial, well explained and filmed. Made doing the job on my 2017 civic a breeze. Thanks for posting.
You are clear and concise with how you explain or describe each step. Thank you
Yo, you saved me a massive headache with this video. Thanks for what you do!
Great video. I'm about to change my pads and rotors on my 17 civic. I really appreciate you sharing this valuable information. Thank you.
Very good video. One of the few that I followed and ran into no issues!
Glad it helped!
Followed your video everything went great I did not take The E brake plug off too hard to get off I left it on but did everything else that you did the power was off anyways so it doesn’t matter if the plug is either off or on Everything went great thank you
١ملايين
If you ever get that plug off put some electric grease on it and should make it easier for the future
Thanks so much! This is a job I have to do next week. I had heard there was some extra step because of the electronic parking brake. You made very clear and easy to understand. Even I can do that!
I was dreading doing this. It looks so simple now, amazing video!
You rock! Just replaced both rear brakes and rotors of my ‘17 Civic. After watching your video, they were a snap! The only thing that was difficult was the rotor set screw. One of them was so torqued I had to go buy a set of Ryobi cordless tools that included the impact driver. A couple of whacks with that and it came right out. Thanks so much for the great video and explanation!!!
Rubber mallet and screw driver will the do the trick
Sandivar - changing brakes and rotors on my Honda and having same issue with TIGHT rotor set screw.
You mentioned using and impact driver...how? Thanks!
had to drill mine out, gotta love rust
Great video!!! I was already frustrated but this one helped me a lot. Thank you
Thank you !! Best video in UA-cam. Straight to the point
Excellent DIY!! Thank you so much. Just saved me about $500
Thanks for the great video, completed my rear brake pad replacement on my 2016 Civic Touring in 30mins, that includes rewatching the video too.
Saved me from screwing up my brake job. Thank you!
Thanks very much for posting this, Only vid I seen using a 9mm socket to turn the E brake. Thanks very much! Doing this job this week....
Awesome job. Great instructions! Thank you 👍🏼
Did you guys get any error message on the screen? Im just scared to get an unexpected error message…
Thank you!
From what i understand the way he did it is safe if being done manually. There is a video out there that is done wrong where a guy doesnt disassemble the E e brake amd just uses a c clamp to push the piston in which is a no no because hes pushing all the break fluid. And run the risk of messing up the electric e brake.
Ditto on the ebrake. The other vid I watched did not have that feature. It had me scratching my head for a bit until I found your video.
Thanks a bunch dude!
Thanks , my rotors need to be done … is always a 1sr time. Thanks for the explanation…so clear.
Excellent DIY!! Thank you so much. Just saved me about $500
Great video man keep it up! You just made my brake job simple as could be
Thank you sooooo much for your video it helped me so much especially the electronic parking brake I’ve done brakes before I would be able to figure it out without doing damage to the system I picked up the alen set and brake grease for next time thanks again 👍👍👍🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Thank you Daniel, that was helpful bro! I wouldn’t have known to use the 9mm to turn the parking spline clockwise! Thank you!
Thanks for the video, I was looking how to make it. Now it'll be easy thanks again.
Great and easy to understand video... thank-you!!
You're a life saver my dude. Now to wait for this rain to stop because I don't have a garage 🤣
Well done man. I learnt something new from e-brakes today
Very educative. We need tutorials like this especially in most African countries.
Thank you...got it done...couple hours...saved $300.00
Thanks after reinstalling the old pads and putting everything back together I can call my customer back now that I know how to do it the proper way
Glad I could help
You are suppose to apply grease the contact points where the pads go into the pad holder so they slide more easily, also on the caliper slide bolts.
Excellent video! Got mine changed without a issue, thanks!!!
I have an optima with similar electronic parking brake system. Instead of opening the module up you can remove the electronic plug that gives it power and use a 9v battery with aligator clips to back the piston out. Place the positive and negative on each terminal within module and you'll hear the piston making noises. You can switch the positive and negative terminals if you notice the piston extending instead of doing nothing.
Most excellent! Detailed and to the point.
Awesome video, thanks so much. I usually turned the discs when I change pads.
Saved me tons of money, Thanks. By the way put some WD40 on that Hydraulic jack. Had my headphones on. LOL
Thank you so much, I just changed my rear brakes pads, watching your video.
Thank you sooooo much for posting this. Super helpful ! Actually saved my butt!!
Thanks really appreciate when some one take the time to explain everything
this video is excellent man - thank you!
merci mrs Gibson j'ai suivie votre video a la lettre et super bien réussi ! merci
We have a 17 civic, thanks it needs pads and rotors all the way around. I knew Ithe back was different, thanks.
Thank you! Great explanation.
Glad it helped
Great video. I have to do a 2016 soon. It has 6 winters of water and salt so may not be so easy. Thanks for posting. Ps: be careful with that electrical connector on the parking brake motor. It is easy to damage where the wires join the contacts inside the cap.
I haven't had any issues but I have seen others complain about the wire issue. With everything mechanical thinking/working through problems is key.
Stop, drop and roll 😂😂😂 . Great tutorial brother.
This is so helpfull brother!
I appreciate you!
Thank you.
Great video thanks. First dude I've seen doing it properly according to Honda OEM service manual and not just using a brake piston compressor without proper EPB reset.
Thank you very much for posting, extremely useful DIY video!!
Thank you for putting this video together. I carefully followed it on my 2017 Civic EXT and didn't have any trouble (no brake light afterwards).
What I did notice is that when I jack up the rear of the car and I give the rear wheels a good spin with one hand, it only makes a little bit more than a whole turn after I released them... when it should be around 2.5 times if I am not mistaken. I am saying this because I noticed the drop in MPG... I guess because there is some increased friction on the rear brakes. What steps would you take to troubleshoot this scenario? Grease the caliper pins? Thank you in advance.
The problem was the caliper's pins. I greased them better this time and I also greased all the other brake parts. I am getting +50 mpg on my 2017 Civic EX-T!!!
You can see the "wheel revolutions" test here: ua-cam.com/video/0wX7ISUY3hk/v-deo.html
This video shows how I greased the front brakes as an example: ua-cam.com/video/Cr7v6KarX6A/v-deo.html
Excellent video I have to do soon my 2016 honda civic
Thank you!! just saved me 300$. 💋
Glad I could help!
Thank you for the video. My experience with task: do each wheel separately resetting EPB, that way if you get an error code you know which wheel to check; top caliper 7 mm hex screw is hard to reach due to brake line so I had to use an allen wrench instead of my new hex sockets I bought for this task; I had to wait until I was pulling caliper out to disconnect electrical connector; inner brake pad has a left and right-I believe wear tab goes down. Yes I got an error code so I just took everything apart again, reassembled and light went out. Suspect the spindle was not perfectly aligned but maybe the electrical connector had poor contact I did feel/hear a click. Moot point now. Honda part number 43022-TBA-A03. My Honda dealer quoted $650 for job, my cost
Thank you so much! This video is super helpful.
aced this repair video veryy simple just take ur time when doing E parking brake
Thanks Dan! So you don't have to grease slider pins like on traditional calipers? And if I'm just doing brake service to make sure the pads move freely I don't need to do anything with the e brake? Thanks again!
Excellent tutorial. Only that inner pad is for the other side. The wear indicator should always be on the leading edge of the pad.
Thank you for this video. I wish I would have found it a week ago. I hired a mobile mechanic to replace my rear pads and rotors on my 2020 Civic sedan. After the job was done, the parking brake problem warning lights started and haven’t gone away. The brakes work fine and even the parking brake can be turned on and off as normal. I can hear the parking brake motor when I turn it on and the parking brake is on as the car won’t start to roll while in drive or neutral. But the parking brake button red light keeps flashing along with the brake problem notification on the dash screen. Any suggestions on what steps to take at this point? Should I assume that the calipers are not damaged since everything works well?
Have you found a solution for this? I have the same problem.
@@eveliomoreno I had the same mobile mechanic come back. I showed him some UA-cam videos and then we did what was suggested. First he disconnected the car battery. Then he took off the wheels and then connected a 9V battery (using 2 wires) to the motor for the parking brake. We heard the motor wind up the parking brake. He did that a few times until he figured out parking brake was in the released position.
Then he put it all back together. Connected the battery. I started the car. The system said to drive safe while it was calibrating everything. I drove around the block. Then the warning brake problem lights all came back on. I pulled over, put the car in park, turned the parking brake on and then it would not turn back off. I couldn’t move the car at all as the parking brake was engaged and wouldn’t release. Then I remembered another video I watched about holding down the parking brake button to reset it. I held it for 60 seconds. Then FINALLY everything was working again and all warning lights turned off. Since then, the car has been driven a thousand miles and there have been no problems.
I can try to find the videos that showed how to connect a 9V battery and how to reset the button. Just let me know if you need them. Keep in mind, just resetting the button will not fix everything without first messing with the parking brake motor as I tried doing that over and over beforehand and it did nothing.
Glad you found a fix we get calls about this same situation all the time. The electronic E brakes are some what new and unfortunately, Honda didn't make it easy for DIYers or for guys who don't work in a shop with access to manufacturers specs etc ...
Dude!! That looks super easy! Unlike the Honda Pilots that have those stupid springs you have to hold in place while trying to put the bolts in! lol
Why the 74 dislikes?
You never reconnected the power to the electronic parking brake. When should you do that?
boom!!! money!!!
salamat!!! Mahalo nui loa!!!
thank you!!!
\m/
No problemeo
I followed your instructions replaced the rear rotors and pads screwed the parking brake in and pushed back the pistons ,brakes and e brake work nice but now every brake lite warning is on, a pain in the ass
Have you resolved this issue? I ran into the same problem.
@@eveliomoreno unfortunately I did not put out the warning lights, I have a decent scanner Autel , and I couldn't even put them out with that, I think the key is putting it in service mode before you even start anything I didn't do that I didn't know how to do it and I don't know if my scanner could do it but that's the key service mode,
Looks exactly like every German car rear brakes! Great video I'm lucky to have my scan tool to do it for me, but never open to seeing a different way.
Exactly like all the German calipers. Most folks don't have a scanner capable of setting it in maintenance mode.
Thanks for the video- helped immensely!!
Stealership ain't getting my money this time thanks for the tutorial!
Great video keep it up 👍
I spun the caliper with some pliers until it wouldn't spin anymore, then pressed the caliper all the way in. No need to open up the e brake or even unplug it. I've done it like that twice now, no problems.
It works until it doesn't.
Thanks! Very helpful video.
Awesome tutorial. Thank you. Keep up the good work, bro.. 👍
Do you plug that wire back on before or after you installed the pads?
I just use some needle nose vise grips and turn the caliper clockwise then use a caliper tool to press in the piston. Worked just fine
Works great until it don't seen a many of electronic e brake units destroyed with this method
Looks easy enough but don't forget to plug in your EPB when done!
Thank you for the video very good diy
You’re welcome 😊
Did you have to take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir prior to starting all this? Great video btw.
Yes I did
Well done video. Thanks. But I didn't see you lube the pins ?
You don't need the brake pad hardware clips?
No hardware on these other than the retaining clip
What should you do if you push the piston too far?
You can try to get it back in with out messing up the seal but it may not work and you'll need a new caliper.
Thank you. Great Video. New subscriber....
Great video, nice and oriented.
Is that parking brake unit on both sides ? I’ll be doing my 2018 Honda Civic brakes soon
Yes sir. I have a video specifically for the 2018
ua-cam.com/video/JYspMdtIxQ4/v-deo.html
Great video
does the e brake have to be engaged or disengaged?
