Lovely work, thanks for showing. You seem to have fallen in love with casein paint. I’ve never tried it, and wonder why you prefer it to watercolour or gouache?

Hi I really enjoy your work… your work for your exhibition looked fantastic… I hope you sold everything….

Having friends who moved to St Ives just before Christmas, I have taken to looking at one of the local webcams each day. You have done well to get something down each day given the the variety of weather you have had to cope with. There have been some fine days but the biggest indicator of ou changing climates seems to be the wind. This can be such a problem when doing anything out of doors - not just because paper, panels and canvasses can take to the air, but blown sand and just pressure on the eyes can put you off. You have produced a wonderful and varied set of images. The casein paint seems to have so much more life than gauche. I have Strada kit and it is very well designed, robust and light and not easy to get in the UK or EU. American artists are very well served by painters turned designers, turned manufacturers and entrepreneurs. I hope Strada award you a prize!

Where place are you form ? What kind of pencils do you use ?

what spectacular scenery you have to paint! I would get bogged down with details or overwhelmed with where to start, but your painting and sketching style of representation is so lively and conveys the riotous feeling of the tangled thorny vines by that gate, or the carpet of leaves mixed in on the gravel road through the forest - they are all so lovely! Thanks for showing us your project. It is very inspiring.

Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful creations, especially outdoors. And what tenacity to be there every day! I have the impression that the weather was better than in Brittany (lots of rain, fog and storms) and it was difficult for me to get out and paint.

You always work from life, don't you? So this was a total doddle for you..... why, you were BOUND to win any challenge! Ignore my levity, it's all based on envy.... If I had to define your work, the word I'd choose is 'energy' - there's life in your every sketch. And the beneficial influence of Basil, of course: without that, you'd be no better than the rest of us (he asked me to say that).

Really nice sketches - I especially like the woodland views. Casein is a perfect media to use outdoors because it dries fast - and has a pretty strong odor! (I had to give up using it indoors - it's not toxic, but the smell really gets to me). Your facility with the various media is an inspiration.

Congratulations on completing the Strada Easel challenge 👏 Your paintings and sketches are really beautiful. I especially love day 28 of the Tehidy wood track and day 31 of the view from the top of Carn Brae. Fabulous ❤ I have to say that watching your plein air sketching videos really encouraged me to do more sketching and now I’m loving trying different mediums and sketchbooks. Thanks for that 👍 I think the Khadi sketchbooks are still my favourite.

Your work ethic inspires me to get back to work after about a 2 year ‘’block’’. It’s helpful to see how you choose your subject matter and don’t waste time fiddling around to achieve a perfect environment within which to work - just a chair to sit in, or the ground around you, a rock or wall does it for you. I am going to adopt that attitude and avoid advice about what gear to take, etc. I love how casein paints, tried it, but I’m allergic to it.😢 Can you share any wisdom about getting out of “painters’ block”?
