Well done for your perseverance in very windy conditions - I really like your painting and look forward to to seeing you next time in the same location
"That will do"....as we love to hear you say...😂.. .well it certainly will!!! 😊, and it's amazing to see what you created especially under those conditions! Love the mix for the hedges. Thanks for sharing. All the best and hope you get some nice warm days soon.
Beautiful painting despite difficult conditions. I LOVE the muted palette with hits of green in this one and hope you don’t rule out doing a studio painting of this scene! Brrrrrr
Looking at your palette was good, love your choice of colours....the composition is really simple and beautiful. 🧡🌿😊🌬️🌀💧 (that long rigger brush is a terrific tool to have ).
The wind was an asset, blowing you hand creating loose natural marks. You fought it too much. Instead of embracing it. The cold is the biggest challenge though, brrrr...at least no rain. Well done persevering. Nice colour harmony. 👍
I loved this painting at every stage including the first three base colours, the palette was beautiful, unexpected. Crazy weather, 30 degrees here in Sardinia today - bonkers!
Man you're a real soldier. I won't get out of bed if its too cold. I live in Tucson Arizona and cold for me is probably different than cold for you. I get out as much as I can however. Soon I'll only be able to paint either real early, like 5am or late day around 7pm. The heat in summer is dangerously high.
Hi Dan Thank you very much - the wind was the main problem here. We have had so much rain and lots of storms this winter it has been insane. Hope you can enjoy some plein air painting this year Andrew
A great painting produced despite the very challenging conditions. I love your dedication to get out painting whatever the weather! I’m afraid I wasn’t tempted. Walking the dog was enough for me! Mind you I don’t think my lightweight pochade would have coped very well. Your Jullian easel is obviously more suited to adverse conditions. It definitely held up to all the buffeting wind. Look forward to your next video. Hopefully it will be more springlike for a change 🤞
I loved this painting, from the moment you put that wonderful hedge colour mix (which I wanna try mixing) pinky brown on, and it just got better and better from there. That's a darn good pochade easel, to stay standing in that, and you did good yourself, to not give up too early. Personally, I loved the sounds of the wind on the video, and thought this one had a lovely atmosphere, as well as a super painting and a hardy painter!
Full marks for braving Storm Kathleen - even over the east side fo the country we have been buffeted - I have lost to branches of a tree peony with his buds! There are occasions when artist skill makes up for the weather conditions and a harmonious composition has resulted. The restrained colours work well and the textures of the paint reflect the 'fabric' of the harvested field. I remember being surprised when I started painting years ago - when going outside you thought clouds were a uniform grey, tree trunks brown, leaves green and walls of churches or houses the red of brick or boring grey of stone. After a few hours and with later trips, I suddenly began to see that grey was not just grey - I began to see yellows, oranges, violets, reds and blues in what i had thought of as uniform skies. Lichen on walls can be yellow, green pink ... I suspect I was learning to observe more carefully but i wonder if optical responses were beginning to work. You begin to see the complementary colour - those opposite on the side of the colour wheel. It is a fascinating interaction, at first side the field is brown, straw and green and in the painting one can sense violet, pinks and reds even if the palette seems to be restricted and the colours muted! Interesting!
Hi Ian and thank you for your insight and comments. I will return to this location as I enjoyed its emptiness. You are right about learning to see more in depth when working from life. All the best Andrew
Thank you so much. I carry these back by keeping them in place in the easel. So I carry the easel back with the painting sat in position it was painted in. Usually means I only do 1 at a time.
I really enjoy your videos. I can really feel the landscape when you paint and feel as if I am there. Just one question, can you recommend a good brush cleaner in one of your videos.
How do you brave this weather Andrew? Does it bring something to the painting? I’m struggling to get outside to paint, winter doesn’t seem to want to leave us…
Well done. You must have been 🥶Really enjoyable for us lot to watch in the warm though. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it and yes I was freezing

So fun to watch and I love your palette choices.

Thanks so much Lisa. I will definitely go back when the weather picks up x
That turned out really lovely in spite the conditions. Absolutely love the colors
Old coats are great. Gives them a second life 😃
Just have to watch the car seats after painting 😅
Beautiful Andrew! I love the subtle colors
Thanks Judith
Lovely painting! Always enjoy your videos. You are very talented.😊 And brave to work in that chilly weather.

Well done persevering.
Nice colour harmony. 👍
Thank you Jim. I think a different, more open landscape without the many hedges would’ve worked well in the wind. I enjoyed it though

Thank you so much Frankie. Massive storm passing through again this Monday night
Nice work. Nice brush work. Nice colour palette. Amazed you were able to get the telegraph poles in with all that wind. Nice detail. Cheers 😊
Thanks so much 👍

These French easels are well suited for this windy weather. Shame my camera tripod wasn’t so sturdy 😃
really nice painting!!

As always, a great a painting. Liking the muted palette. difficult to paint in the wind trying to keep the brush steady.
Thank you so much Louise. I will go back to try again when the weather is better
weather, better you than me , like it.
Thank you ☺️
Superb painting; love the naturalistic coulour. How do you manage to get these non-standard panel sizes home without getting the paint smudged?
Thank you so much. I carry these back by keeping them in place in the easel. So I carry the easel back with the painting sat in position it was painted in. Usually means I only do 1 at a time.
I really enjoy your videos. I can really feel the landscape when you paint and feel as if I am there. Just one question, can you recommend a good brush cleaner in one of your videos.
Thank you so much. I use Savon de Marseille or Masters brush cleaner 👍🏻
How do you brave this weather Andrew? Does it bring something to the painting? I’m struggling to get outside to paint, winter doesn’t seem to want to leave us…
I don’t mind the bad weather too much so long as it’s not raining heavily. These conditions affect the light and visibility
Sei fantastico! Potresti spiegare come mescoli i colori con il medium e quale usi? Grazie 😊
Thank you so much. I use my own medium which is in my video here ua-cam.com/video/DrksPaXvgCA/v-deo.htmlsi=5blvfpDRb4Zg1PBx
Hi Andrew, what brand hog hair brushes are you using please? Steve
I’m trying some Rosemary & Co but usually buy Jacksons Art home brand 👍🏻
You need a umbrella i think monet used one in the sun
You make me think of monet in the cold and rain 😂 the sun came later 😂
It would be so nice to see the sun ☀️ 😃
Pre eclipse weather we had it in Sydney Australia as well,it was very bad
Yes I was thinking about that
Lol camera gone gone 😅😅😅😅
Poor camera 📷
