Thanks for posting Andrew. I note you mentioned in an earlier post that you don't use fixative on the panels. Could I ask how you protect the finished work. Do you mount it behind glass?

That is correct - glass is the only way to fully protect the charcoal if you don't fix it. Glad you enjoyed the video

Do you know - no of course you don't, why would you? - I've never yet drawn in charcoal on a gesso'd board; on all sorts of paper, yes, but never on a board. Right, that's my next job then.
Brilliant job, as always. Getting the impression Basil wants attention: which, of course, he deserves.

Thank you. I like to try different supports. Paper gives a softer finish to my charcoals

Sometimes in my sketchbook but rarely for finished work as it alters the subtle qualities of the willow charcoal

Just recently caught your channel and I like it very much. With the charcoal drawings, do you fix it shortly after the drawing is finished? How exactly do you do that? Thanks.

Thank you and welcome to our art community. I fix my sketches straight away as I close the book and they would smudge. Drawings like this one are carefully placed in my plan chest with glassine paper on top to protect until framing behind glass
