Sunday treat. Thank you Andrew.☘️
Glad you enjoyed it Rosemary
This was a wonderful Monday morning surprise, and while I missed the dog (until the end) and the shifts in climate and difficult terrains, the video was extremely informative for me. Starting with working on a gessoed panel. I have a bunch of them. I'm going to try it out today. Thanks for the inspiration.
My pleasure Andrea. I am pleased you saw Basil at the end - I wonder how many people missed him?
Love watching your work with charcoal. ❤
Thank you so much 😀
You really captured the sand.....very effective.
Thank you so much
Awesome work and thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much 😃
Great work Andrew and a very nice studio , all the best with the upcoming exhibition
Thank you so much ☺️
Interesting to see the process. Great stuff.
Thank you William
Love these charcoal pieces
Thank you Tracy
How do you fix your pieces when complete? Beautiful work!
I don't often fix them - it changes the charcoal too much for me. I prefer to frame under glass asap (although this is expensive)
Didn’t think of doing a charcoal on gessoed board. Gives a nice texture. I guess the charcoal adheres to it ok. I would have thought would be too smooth? Do you spray over it to make it permanent? I love how the charcoal marks just suggest landscape features.
Thank you for your comments. I usually add a little texture (maybe marble dust) for the charcoal to grip onto. I don't spray these with fixative anymore as I find it changes the subtle charcoal marks
Your working upright, I lay my work flatter when working with messy (chalk, pastels and charcol). Which do you recommend as both have their own advantage/disadvantages.
I like to work upright because the charcoal / pastel dust drops away from the drawing. Although I prefer working flat with pencil
Do you put a preserver on the finished job
What to use for drawing onto? Looks like board with paper attached ..thanks from NZ
It is a personal choice but nice to try different suface
Hi fantastic
Thank you Meredith
