Glad to see you painting outside again. I love the addition of the reclining cow, its such a peaceful scene. She then comes closer to lighten things up lol!Animals!! They're so natural 😂
Hi Andrew. Enjoy your Plein Air painting videos and always find something good to take from them. The countryside is now a mass of different shades of green. Lovely location and the walk through the estate is a joy when reaching the open sea at Loe Bar.😊 Cheers.
Missed opportunity to get a few more cows in that painting Andrew. Liked the skinny tree branches scattering into the guts of the painting. Basil would have loved it there. Missed him. 👍
Hello Andrew. Very tricky subject ...... bright sunlight and a predominance of greens ..... plus the paint consistency / application issue. Nonetheless, against all the odds, you've managed to produce a very good little plein air painting. Thank you yet again for a great video ! Best wishes.
It’s been a lovely weekend in Cornwall and so nice to get out to be able to paint plein air again. Your painting is lovely - beautiful setting and the cows were so mellow. 🙏
Enjoyed this!! What a lovely day you had in the sunshine with the cows. I love all the greens in this one and the chatty commentary was helpful as well. Looking forward to seeing more en plein from you!
I love your painting work Andrew! On a H&S note, I have moved over to citrus-based solvent, find it really good. I also don't clean the long-handle brushes, just leave them standing in walnut oil with a few drops of clove oil. I know you have your own methods but just thought I would mention it.
Thank you Matty for your kind comments - I don't mind the turps outdoors, I find it works better than other 'solvents' but am always open to try new ideas
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt Hi Andrew, yes I see your point, in the fresh air there is usually lots of ventilation! Just though I would report my findings. I have been plein-airing here in Germany this summer and am not looking forward to the cold season, as I don't think I am very hardy. Keep up the inspiring videos, please!
I loved this video Andrew, even though you weren’t too happy with the final painting. What a beautiful idyllic setting. The cow at the end was comedy gold! 😂 And you’re a lot more relaxed than I am about bugs landing on your work- it looks like one has made a permanent exhibition of itself! I think some slightly darker darks, and a few scrubby marks under the tree might give it that extra Barrowman magic. Nevertheless, a beautiful result!
Nice one Andrew… seeing you “struggle” with the huge variety of Spring greens gives us amateurs some comfort. The result is as good as ever though. Perhaps the element missing was the horizontal rain we’ve got used to seeing you do battle with?🤣
I wonder if the LAotY judges would accuse you of being "twee" with that cow. :) Nice painting. I've shared it with my plein air students as an example of how to follow the steps to get to a finished piece, as well as how to be loose and to desaturate colors in nature. And to show that struggle is nearly always part of the process. Thank you.
UA-cam not letting me post - I probably contravened some policy by accident. Anyway - getting out in the fresh air at last, eh? No place for Basil, with the herd, though. Clara the cow did her best to make up for him. Amazing how quickly one gets out of practice, as you struggled a bit - you'll develop this back at the studio?
Esplêndida paisagem, bastante luz! Parabéns!
Thank you so much
Nice painting. Love the cows.
Thank you very much - it was a lot of fun (apart from the pesky flies!)
Glad to see you painting outside again.

Hi Jim
I would love to have included more cows but I’d had enough by the time they’d made their way over

Thank you so much - it was a fun afternoon. I find the biting flies can be a big problem when the cattle are around.

We’ve had a beautiful spell of sunshine ☀️

Love your work! Would love to see more seascape plein air sessions, you capture the light so well.
Thank you very much Chris
Funny ending! lolol. Thanks for bringing us along to the beautiful Cornish countryside. Love your loose brushwork.
Glad you enjoyed it Maggie. Never a dull (or quiet!) moment in the countryside

Hi Andrew, I liked the painting, and the thicker paint than usual was something I liked and can relate to in my painting.
Thank you very much Dominic

Hi Robert
It was great fun despite the struggle. I’ll probably leave it as a sketch and a record of the afternoon

🙏🏻
Did you cut your painting in half ..rules of third
Yes the little slither of the track is near the halfway point but it was just a sketch and I enjoyed the experience
Value is all the same ??
Best I could do
You couldn't write the ending... :) At least it didn't go after your canvas and get oil over itself.
Years ago I remember one licking paint off my palette 😅
