Thank you. Very informative. As very much a self taught novice oil painter I really appreciate seeing how a professional applies paint, how they mix colour, the brushes they use and the time taken given drying time. Indeed how to factor in drying time. Really lovely, educational and inspirational to watch. Love your work. The view you painted reminds me of a section of coastline along the Great Ocean Road in Australia. Particularly around the Twelve Apostles. I have several photos from I trip I took there and was hoping to paint it one day. You have inspired me to give it a go. Cheers.
I have not been to Bedruthan Steps since 1978 or 79 when I was a young man. Now decades later on a dreary Sunday afternoon you post this. It gives me a great deal of joy as well as capturing memories of a friend no longer with us. The result is almost photographic but that would be to belittle your creative skill, you capture a place in a way which no photograph could! I have not had a chance to get to Cornwall this year or even do any painting 12 weeks of boiler replacement and ancillary works have seen to that! I have a couple of projects based on sketches I made last year at Mullion and Rinsey Cove which need work. I ground to a halt earlier in the year and you have shown me how to return!
Thank you for your video illustrating the thought process behind this wonderful painting. The visit to your exhibition made our trip to Polzeath a pefect afternoon last Saturday in the sunshine. Enjoyed seeing your drawings and paintings at close quarters. Lovely brush work. Heather particularly liked your charcoal drawings of Mylor and I imagined ' A good year for foxgloves' hanging nicely in our cottage. Cheers 😊
A Lovely painting! I do like your larger paintings and love your interpretation of a photograph, so much experience at skies and seas you make it look easy. We would have liked to see your exhibition hopefully you will do a video but when down again find the gallery as we do buy everytime and Cornwall our favourite place.
@@AndrewBarrowmanArthi Andrew, would you ever consider producing prints of your work? I saw your 2022 exhibition of Carrick Roads at Royal Cornwall Museum & Gallery and absolutely loved Moonrise, Restronguet but I’d never be able to afford the £4K price tag 🥴. I’ve looked on your website but can’t see any of your work available as prints. Kindest regards, Chris.
We went to Polzeath and the gallery, the painting is amazing, couldn't choose which one we liked more ❤, we hope your taking part in the open studio in November.
Really enjoyed seeing your studio work following the plein air of this subject and your comments on your process were as always so informative and enjoyable. Thanks very much for sharing this. Fascinating watching your process and the finished work is just amazing❤ Spring here in NZ and am looking forward to "getting out there" to paint after watching this, Once.again thank you Wishing you (and Basil of course) all the very best,
That was interesting Andrew and a beautiful job finished. I expect Basil is dreaming of the day when he gets his portrait painted. A good video. Thank you
Absolutely stunning painting 🌟 Love the textures and brush marks and colours. I was looking forward to watching this video and it didnt disappoint. It was great to see your process on this one and how you built up those layers. Brilliant! 🤩
Really helpful to see your process Andrew. I learnt a lot from this. The painting is stunning and has a lovely mood about it. What really stands out is your excellent draughtsmanship which really pulls this painting together.
That’s what I tend to do. ‘Boring copies of photos’😢. It’s a hard habit to break, but you do really encourage me. I love watching you applying paint. Do you ever add medium? Or just wait for previous layer to dry completely? Gorgeous painting as always. 😍
Maybe start with a tube of black and a tube of white, one brush will do to get started. I often paint onto newsprint paper for practice, which is very cheap. Best wishes to you

Beautiful painting Andrew, love the definition of the rock stacks and the translucency of the sea.

Hi matey how are you 😊… really lovely painting, what a great view. All the best my friend 😊
Thank you Johnny
Been looking forward to this one.
Hope you enjoyed it
I started incorporating the rush strokes very effective and a lot of fun🎉
Well done Meredith - that's great

Thank you very much. I do use medium mixed with the paint, just depends what effects I am trying to achieve
I really appreciate your color choices. I feel that the color and atmosphere of Cornwall is very similar to where I live in the Pacific Northwest.
thank you very much - I would love to visit USA one day
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt well maybe we can arrange for you to teach a workshop on the coast!!
And btw, I would love to paint on the British coast also.
Lovely painting Andrew love the textures and mark making. What brand of Naples Yellow do you use?
Thank you Keith. I use cheaper Georgian Naples yellow. It is weaker than other brands so mixes well with other colours
Потрясающая работа!!!! Сколько по времени вы пишите такую картину??❤
This was done over several weeks. Probably 8 sessions - leaving time to dry in between
💜
I'd love to try oil painting...just dont have the $$ at this time. Keep up the good work!
Maybe start with a tube of black and a tube of white, one brush will do to get started. I often paint onto newsprint paper for practice, which is very cheap. Best wishes to you
Puppy is hard at supervising 😅
He is good at that lol
Yes bigger brushed would give a different atmosphere
Definitely 😀
Allegedly, that's why they don't want lead based paint. Supposedly not because kids are eating the paint.
Great video! Really gorgeous painting!
thank you very much
